How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Although some carpet steamers and cleaners have a suction mechanism to remove the cleaning fluid and water from your carpet after cleaning the area, you should only use them for steaming or cleaning a carpet and never use them like a vacuum cleaner.
Typical steam cleaners can use anywhere from 1000 to 1800 watts. (For comparison sake, a typical lamp uses about 60 watts, while a typical computer uses about 365 watts).
Just Add Water and Cleaner

Fill the water container with hot water and a bit of cleaning solution; some steam cleaners come with a bottle of detergent, but you can also purchase carpet shampoo or soap at a grocery store.

Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor. Always read the manual on your mop model thoroughly for complete use guidelines.

Steam cleaners are particularly helpful for allergy sufferers, because not only do they clean surfaces of dust and other allergens and debris, but they also disinfect and deodorize without the use of harsh chemicals that could trigger allergies, asthma, and multiple chemical sensitivity.
Steam is perfect for carpets, as it is often capable of delivering results without a reliance on caustic cleaning chemicals. Superheated steam is directed exactly where it is needed. And the latest steam cleaners use the optimum amount of water, ensuring your carpet isn`t completely drenched afterwards.
Power consumption is low, with just 0.231kWh recorded during a lengthy cleaning session in the kitchen.
How many watts should a clothes steamer be? Balanzat recommends looking for steamers between 1,000 and 2,000 watts. Consider the types of fabrics you plan to use your steamer with. If you`re only using it on delicate fabrics or one garment at a time, you might get away with a lower wattage.
Except when you are descaling a steam mop, do NOT put anything other than water in the tank. Not only does this defeat the primary purpose of steam cleaning (in avoiding chemical cleaners), but you can possibly damage your steam cleaner. For many steamers, you may also be voiding your warranty in the process.
A good rule of thumb is to have your carpet professionally steam cleaned at least once a year, twice if you seem to track a lot of dirt in. This way you get a good, deep cleaning and don`t let the dirt build up. Vacuum once or twice a week to keep it clean in between your steam cleaning sessions.
Can I use detergents with my steam cleaner? Most steam cleaners are designed to be used without detergent, so stick to water only with these. Some models, on the other hand, can be used with detergent – follow the manufacturer`s instructions.
If the lock is stuck and the cap turns freely even when there is no pressure you will need to break off the cap from the valve. Either using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully prise the cap away from the base – or carefully strike the cap a `glancing blow` to fracture its base and lift off the cap.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
You get the best results after eliminating dirt and dust from the surface of your carpet. If the carpet is not vacuumed before steam cleaning, your carpet will look clean on the surface but remain dirty underneath. The steam cleaner cannot get rid of loose soil that is embedded deep inside the carpet fibers.
Ultimately, running your vacuum over your carpets after a professional deep clean is great but remember to do it only after your carpet is completely dry. Vacuuming your carpet when it`s still damp could cause dirt to be transferred from your vacuum cleaner, so patience does pay off.
Steam Cleaning Equipment may come at a higher price

Because of the higher manufacturing costs required to produce the equipment, you will need to pay a little more upfront for a steam cleaner. However, one thing you will have to bear in mind is that a steam cleaner only requires water for use.

Steam cleaning – sweat, dirt and stains can easily penetrate beyond the top layer of your mattress so treat it to a steam clean every few months. Vacuum the mattress first, run the steam cleaner across the whole surface then allow to dry.
Steam cleaning removes stubborn tough stains, dirt, grease and more while also sanitizing surfaces by removing allergens and pathogens. One of the most useful applications of steam cleaning units is to clean upholstery, fabric furniture and mattresses.
Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
Steam cleaning a couch is a great way to sanitize our most commonly used pieces of furniture. So long as the materials are fit for steaming, this is the quickest and most efficient way to treat any upholstery.
We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
A small household, may only need their carpet steam cleaned once every 12 months, whereas a family home with young children and pets may require having carpet steam cleaned every 3-6 months.
The steamer will work just fine in most countries with an adapter, but if you find yourself in a country using a different voltage standard, then your steamer will unfortunately not function. If you connect the steamer to an outlet with different voltage standard, it might work poorly or even break.
