How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Just as you`d regularly descale a kettle or iron, you need to descale your steam mop. A few times a year, you`ll need to use a mild acid to get rid of the limescale. Always check the instructions for your steam mop before you clean it.
Removing limescale stains with a steam cleaner

If lime deposits are not yet very thick, they can be removed quite easily with the steam cleaner – without the need for tiresome manual scrubbing.

Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe.
It is safe to use on many different types of flooring

The mop heats up fast and is easy to handle. I used this Shark steam mop on my ceramic kitchen floors, but it is also rated for use on sealed hardwood floors, marble, and stone tile.

The Cleaning Nozzle is clogged

Calcium and other minerals may build up in the nozzle, so you may need to clean the nozzle in order to produce steam. To do this, either use the nozzle cleaner provided with the Steam Pocket Mop, or use a straightened-out paper clip.

Pull the wound-up power cord out of the mop and plug it into a 120-volt outlet. The on/standby button will start flashing blue. The mop only takes about 30 seconds to fully heat up.
We recommend using distilled or demineralized water in place of tap water. Do not use any chemicals in the water tank.
Lime scale is the hard, off-white, chalky deposit found in kettles, hot-water boilers, steam generators, hot-water central heating systems and washing machines. It is also often found as a similar deposit on the inner surface of old pipes and other surfaces where “hard water” has evaporated.
Fill the water tank on your steam cleaner, and allow time to heat-up time. Your cleaner may have an indicator light to let you know when it`s ready, or you may just have to wait a few minutes.
Steam mops use hot water to loosen and remove dirt, grime, and other buildup from your floors.
Boil hard water before you use it – You might have noticed limescale in your kettle. This is because boiling hard water will remove many of the minerals.
Apply vinegar or lemon juice directly onto a cloth and scrub the limescale until it comes away. Alternatively, mix one part lemon juice or vinegar to four parts water. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spritz it onto tiles and plugholes. Leave this to soak for up to an hour for stubborn scale deposits.
Fill the Tank With Vinegar

Fill the tank with distilled white vinegar or cleaning vinegar. Avoid using other types of vinegar because they may have sediment that interferes with the cleaning process.

Create a mopping solution of ½ cup of vinegar and one gallon of warm water. Proper dilution is important, since vinegar`s acidic, abrasive properties can have a stronger effect on some materials than others—tile being one of those. When mopping, less is more; make sure to wring out your mop thoroughly after each dip.
Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that works well as a mopping solution without leaving any chemical residue on your floors. Although some people don`t like the scent, this odor is evident only as you mop and clean—it will fade away rapidly as the solution dries. The results left behind are a gorgeous, clean floor.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Sticky floors after steam mopping are often the result of residue from cleaning products that had been used on the floor. Using a dirty mop pad also can cause sticky floors.
There is condensation in the stand steamer`s hose

To solve this, lift your stand steamer`s head to straighten the hose vertically and hold your steamer in an upright position: This will allow any condensation and steam to flow again. After this, your stand steamer should steam again.

Tip: If you add a few ounces of white vinegar into the hot water it helps to release any grease or oil from your mop. Then soak your mop in the vinegar solution for a few minutes. After soaking, rinse the mop head until the water runs clear.

Mix your purchased descaler or mix 1 1/2 oz. of baking soda with one quart of clean water. Fill the empty tank with this mix. Seal the unit and turn the steam cleaner on so that it begins heating.

Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor.
