Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine and I turned on and it turns and so do the brushes at the bottom of the machine. I was reading online and I guess there’s two belts on this machine? where can I find the other belt to see if it needs replacing. I guess it’s a ribbed belt? that is the water pump belt?
ANSWER : Just taken ours apart with the same problem… found it was caused by the 2 halves of the main casing coming apart in the area where the upright pedal release is. I found this to be due to the upper casing having broken in 2 places – the bottom of the screw wells..This means that the water tank cannot exert sufficient pressure on the valve to release the water..Only solution is a new top cover assembly

.There are three (3) basic things that will cause the brush roll not to spin..
.1. When handle is upright, brush roll is OFF..2. When switch is set for HARD surface, brush roll is OFF..3. Broken/worn FLAT belt or V Belt, brush roll will not spin.

.I noticed that the brush roll was not spinning when my vacuum was set for CARPET. After removing the cover I noticed that the V belt was loose, I thought the belt was worn so I purchased a correct replacement belt and installed it, but the new belt was also loose and when I turned the large flat belt pulley it did not turn the V belt pulley at the same time..
.I double checked the surface setting and I had the vacuum switch set for carpet, but still when I released the handle out of the upright position the brush roll would still not spin..
.My aggravation finally led me to this posting on FixYa’s website..
.The first thing I did was checked the screw to the left of the V belt as suggested by ejmjr5 and this did nothing to solve the problem or create more tension on the V belt, even when the upright handle was not in the upright position..

ANSWER : Normally, there is a post sticking out of the retainer to remove it. If the post is broken off, then you will have to lift the black arm and wiggle it at the same time and the retainer will pop up so you can remove it. On the belt side, the retainer is fairly large and you can usually get a hold of it with a pair of needle nose pliers. On the other side, the retainer is small and you can lift it out with the pliers by griping it gently using the hole that the screw goes through.

My carpet cleaner (bissell proheat plus) is not steaming, dispensing cleaner. Seems like there’s a little thingy that should be spinning or turning….. When I work a small area of carpet, it just leaves behind dry blobs of carpet gunk like pet hair. I had to use a carpet sweeper to clean up. FYI – I filled the cleaning fluid container and after trying to clean the carpet, it did empty out but the carpet isn’t wet. Any tips? The manual doesn’t help.

Is there any way to repair or replace the belt GUIDE on the inside of the belt compartment of a ’97 Hoover Wind Tunnel (not self-propelled)? It became twisted when a belt broke and now the belt rubs against it and sounds really weird, and I’m sure new belts will continue to break.. In doing so, I snapped a small red plastic roller arm pin/clamp. I glued it back together & replaced it & it worked fine for about 10 minutes then the roller stopped, sure enough the glue didn’t hold. I’m just trying to find the parts. It’s part # 555-9113, that fits ALL Pro Heat models. I have tried finding them at all the hardware stores & Vaccum shops, but no one carries them. I saw them on a few web sites priced from $1.99 to $3. Now I just have to find the site again!

I have a Hoover power max self propelled vacuum. The belt that goes to the self propelled part keeps slipping off. I’ve had the belt replaced, but the problem persists.

ANSWER : I can guess of one problem
belt gets removed when motor is running right?
am assuming that belt is fit tightly and fits correctly when motor is in rest
if so then ur motor is not running at a proper speed which can be a possible reason for making the drum to slip from its place.
else ur drum which holds the belt is some what mis aligned from its normal position.
