If your brush is not turning it could be due to a broken Belt or a seized Brush Roll, follow these steps to resolve: Turn off and unplug machine. Use a Phllips-head screwdriver to remove 3 screws, 2 in the belt cover and 1 on the brush roll mount. Remove belt cover.
The Brush Roll is Wrapped with Hair: If the brush on your Shark is wrapped with hair, there is a possibility that the friction caused by this melted your brush, making it unable to spin. First, try spinning the brush with your hand. If you are unable to do this, you likely need a new brush roller as yours has seized.
Clear the brush roll of any hair and debris and inspect by placing it on its end and spin. The brush should spin freely. If it doesn`t spin; it may be time to replace.
Unplug your machine to reset the brush. While unplugged, remove the brush window and brush roll from your machine, by pulling the tab. Take out the obstruction that was causing the machine to stop working. Once the obstruction is removed, you may reassemble the brush roll and brush window.

There Is Blockage on the Brushroll There may be debris wrapped around the roller that is preventing it from turning. This is often due to hair, string, or other larger items that may be suck in the roller. The rotating brushes move counterclockwise together, trapping and absorbing the dirt that is deep in the carpet fibers.

A Revolving Brush Roll
Greatly Enhances Carpet Cleaning Vacuum cleaners specifically designed to clean carpeted floors have motor or turbine driven revolving brush rolls with rows of bristles and sometimes beater bars as well. These brush rolls revolve at a very high speed, agitating the carpet fibers in the process.
Turbobrush vs. Powerbrush – A turbobrush is air-driven, while a powerbrush is electrically-driven. Though turbobrushes work well for low to medium pile carpet, if your home has high pile carpet or wall-to-wall carpet, you`ll probably want a powerbrush.
The two settings – brushes up and brushes down are to help you clean both carpets and hard floors. When the brushes are up you can get nice and close to carpeted floors and suck up all the dust and nasties hidden in the fibres.
You should replace the belts on your vacuum at least every three to six months if the vacuum is regularly used. This is very important for proper cleaning.
The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away has one rotatory belt. The belt is responsible for the mechanical rotations of the brushroll. Without it, the vacuum will not function. The vacuum`s belt is designed to last approximately 7 years.
Overall, Bissell is a popular vacuum brand for a reason – these vacuums are dependable and last up to two years without issue. However, some models are better than others when it comes to cleaning different surfaces.
Check for a plugged hose:
Plugged vacuum hoses are sometimes the reason for a loss in suction. Hoses can get clogged with hair, dust bunnies, string, or anything else that can`t pass through the other end of the hose. Airways inside the machine should be looked at as well. Wherever there is an air passage, check it.

Now that I just fixed my Lux Legacy canister vacuum, I need help on my other Electrolux Regency Series upright! The vacuum works fine but the rotating brush does not work and the brush motor does not turn on. Tried cleaning the brush and hitting hte reset button to no avail. ANSWER : There are a couple rectangular holes on the bottom of the power nozzle, beside the wheels. These have tabs in them that need released with a standard screwdriver.
.

.Once they release, turn the vacuum over and lift cover of power nozzle at the back. This pulls the front of the cover out of the lip on the “bumper”.
.Once this is done, you’ll need to unscrew the screw at each end of the brush. Lift the brush out and thoroughly clean it, including the ends.
.

.
.Check the wiring to make sure they’re connected to the terminals of the motor. Also, check the belt for wear and tear. These belts can last for five years or more, but if it looks bad a good time to replace it is while you have the power head apart.
.When reassembling the vacuum, ensure the belt is fitted properly around the motor shaft and brush.
.Insert the front of the cover first, ensuring the edge fits neatly beneath the lip on the bumper all the way around. It takes a little manipulating to press the back into place. Make sure both tabs click into the locked position. Turn the vacuum over and reinstall screws. Try to rotate brush by hand a few times.
.At this point, plug the vacuum in and turn it on. If the power head doesn’t run, press the reset button. If the power head motor still doesn’t run, it could be due to loose or disconnected wires that lead to the reset switch, a bad reset switch, or even a bad motor. The vacuum needs to be taken to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for further diagnosis and repair.
