Vacuum Is Clogged Of Debris/Spitting out Dust
The Dirt Devil Gator is clogged of debris or spitting out previously picked up dirt.
Check the filters: A clogged filter can cause a vacuum cleaner to blow air instead of sucking it. Check the vacuum filters and clean or replace them as needed. Check the hose and attachments: Check the hose and attachments for any blockages or obstructions. Clear any blockages you find.

Why does my Shop-Vac® wet dry vac blow dust back into my room? The dust isn`t being stopped by the filter and is being exhausted out of the blower port and back into the air. This can be caused by a hole in the filter, the filter not being properly installed, or the dust being too fine for the filter.
If your vacuum doesn`t have a HEPA filter, it`s likely stirring up more dust than it`s capturing. With the wrong product, you`ll simply pull dust up from the carpet and send it flying through the air. This could be the cause of the dust build-up you`re seeing.
1. Check the bag or bin – replace the bag if necessary, and if a bin, wash thoroughly with soap and hot water. 2. Clean or replace filters – rinse filters under cold water, until the water runs clear and allow to air dry for 24 hours.
A clogged air filter can`t leave anything clean and will eventually break down from the inside causing the vacuum to first smell, and eventually not suck well causing it to break.
Replace filter every 3 to 6 months.
High-efficiency particulate air filters, known as HEPA filters, can remove 99.97 percent of dust particles that are 3 microns in diameter, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As of now, air purifiers that have a HEPA filter tend to be the best at filtering out dust from your space.

Clogs Cause Vacuum Spitting
What`s happening with your vacuum cleaner is that a clog has built up and debris being agitated by the roller is spitting out or stirring up dust without sucking it in.
You may think you`re getting rid of the dust, dirt, and pet dander that trigger your allergies, but sometimes you may be stirring them up instead. One study found that some vacuum cleaners throw fine dust and germs back into the air, where they can set off allergies and spread infections.
“Both vacuum cleaning and the act of vacuuming can release and re-suspend dust and allergens, leading to increased exposure,” write study researchers from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.
Small garage workshops gather dust and dirt quickly, but many dust collection systems are too costly or large to install in smaller shops. A secondary option is to build your own dust collection system using a shop vac, which can be picked up for less than $100.
The bottom line is that Shop-Vac units shouldn`t be utilized without a filter. The vacuum will work without one, but it might not work better. Numerous other consequences might occur. You may create an even bigger mess than the one you needed to clean.

Put Dryer Sheets Inside The Bag
Place a dryer sheet into the dust bag of your vacuum cleaner before cleaning to improve the fragrance of the vacuum cleaner itself. In addition, you may use some orange peel or a few drops of essential oil on a piece of paper towel to remove the odor.
Vacuuming regularly (including in between the couch cushions) and putting a fresh bag inside rids soft surfaces especially of odors.
Use a soft cloth dampened with cleaning spray or warm, soapy water to wipe down the exposed parts of your vacuum and the attachments. You can use a soft brush to get to any hard-to-reach areas. Wipe out the bin of stick vacuums or the dirt canister of a bagless vacuum.

Lower quality fiberglass filters are more affordable, but they don`t last long and need to be changed every month. Pleated air filters are high-quality filters that are very effective in trapping particles and last up to 90 days. Pets—If you own pets, change your filters every two months to keep your air clean.

The hose from the unit is venting into the garage. Is this normal? I have since used it for everyday household cleaning and each time I go back to the garage to a cloud of dust. I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that the unit you have may have to be vented outside as I am not familiar with this particular unit, or it could very well be that it is missing a filter or the filter you have inside already is shot and is in need of replacement or on some central vacs there are paper filter that go over the cloth type filter. Again, I am not familiar with this older unit but feel free to contact the Electrolux Factory or Manufacturer and give them the model # and the serial # for the unit and they will have a breakdown of if it should be vented and what type of filtration it should be using. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Blows dust it blows dust out of the vents.
ANSWER : I had this trouble and it turned out someone in my household had tossed out the filter with the rest of the dirt. you may have lost yours along the way since it’s relatively easy to throw out.

Kenmore vac won’t shut off, blowing heavy air from vent
ANSWER : For the stack of problems you have, it sounds like it be best for you to ditch it and get a new vacuum. The heavy problem sounds like a motor issue. The burning smell is most likely from the belt being loose on the power head.
Economically, you should just get a new one instead of replacing the whole system guts

Hi,my vacumm is blowing air out of the vents .it is a electrolux pet lover 1800w.i have to put tape over some of the vent to stop it blowing all over the place.hope you can help

Dust will blow out of the front vent of my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum. It seems to be shooting out dust that I just vacuum up, but I can’t be certain.

Arrgh! I have an upright Bissell vacuum. Everytime I use it, it smells like a cloud of dust. I have made sure countless times that all the filters are clean and the hoses are intact, so I don’t know what the problem is. Is this problem normal? Or am I somehow blowing dust everywhere? Any insight it much appreciated, thanks!!
