If brush will not turn by hand, or belt is broken, replace the damaged part by ordering online at BISSELL.com. Clean off any debris on the brush. If the brush is still not turning, please take the unit to an Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the unit.
Includes one Pump Belt, COG Pump Belt, and the Brush Belt.
You may have stalled the brush motor. To reset, turn off and unplug, then plug back in and turn on. The brush roll may have lodged debris or other entanglements keeping the brush from rotating.
A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
Locate the brush reset button on the lower back right of the vacuum. Press the button to reset the brushroll To ensure the brush has been reset, plug the vacuum back into the electrical outlet.
The brush rolls can be gently removed and replaced with new brush rolls. There is a small belt and end cap on the other end of the brush rolls. That belt needs to wrap around the tooth end of the brush rolls and the end cap needs to be secure before re-assembling the machine.

First, check to make sure the clean tank has water and/or the water & formula mixture in the tank. If your tank is empty, this could be the reason your machine is not spraying. You will need to fill your clean tank again. Reseat the tank and ensure it sits snug on the machine.
Check for a plugged hose:

Plugged vacuum hoses are sometimes the reason for a loss in suction. Hoses can get clogged with hair, dust bunnies, string, or anything else that can`t pass through the other end of the hose. Airways inside the machine should be looked at as well. Wherever there is an air passage, check it.

If it doesn`t spin, replace the brush roll. Inspect the belt, replace if it appears damaged. Place the belt back on the motor gear, pull the belt over the brush roll and place back in. Position the brush roll end opposite of the belt to line up with the tab.

Check both the brush roll and chamber for any large debris that may clog or stop the brush from spinning. If it is damaged or broken, you can buy a replacement on bissell.com. Replace your brush roll by re-inserting. Using the coin again, turn the groove counterclockwise to lock the brush in place.

Both drive and slave belts are intact and tight on the Bissell ProHeat 2x. The brushes will not turn. When last turned on, there was a loud snap noise and something is broken in the power head drive train. Can we repair this or is there a service center near the Hastings, MI area? We need this fixed ASAP. Thank you.
ANSWER : Sounds likely you should take it in your drive gears might have a problem

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head.

My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt.

There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

ANSWER : Yes, there should have been a white plastic sprocket on top of the bearing – in its channel the belt would sit. Unfortunately no parts are available for this unit that can be bought retail – only available by order to dealer repair shops....
Unfortunately to fix it you must send it to one and that would be more expensive than a new one. Just junk this chinese POS and buy another chinese POS.

Bissell Proheat 2x Series 8920 – Brush Belt Metal Shaft Sprocket won’t turn
ANSWER : Most likely the brush motor is bad and not turning, part #2036757, would sell for around $23. To get to it, start taking out screws on the top cover, that motor is under the that top access cover.

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can’t find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won’t turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?
ANSWER : As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two “holders” of sort that connect the brush to the frame of the vacuum. These need to be able to turn freely around the brush. Clean them as best you can and spray some WD40 in between the roller and both the holders. Work the holders around by hand to be sure they move freely..I would also check to see if your belts are snug..
.Please let me know if this does not help solve your problems..Paul

Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine and I turned on and it turns and so do the brushes at the bottom of the machine. I was reading online and I guess there’s two belts on this machine? where can I find the other belt to see if it needs replacing. I guess it’s a ribbed belt? that is the water pump belt?
ANSWER : Just taken ours apart with the same problem… found it was caused by the 2 halves of the main casing coming apart in the area where the upright pedal release is. I found this to be due to the upper casing having broken in 2 places – the bottom of the screw wells..This means that the water tank cannot exert sufficient pressure on the valve to release the water..Only solution is a new top cover assembly

Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled V Belt
ANSWER : I had this same problem with the V belt on my Hoover Vaccuum..
.There are three (3) basic things that will cause the brush roll not to spin..
.1. When handle is upright, brush roll is OFF..2. When switch is set for HARD surface, brush roll is OFF..3. Broken/worn FLAT belt or V Belt, brush roll will not spin.
.
.I noticed that the brush roll was not spinning when my vacuum was set for CARPET. After removing the cover I noticed that the V belt was loose, I thought the belt was worn so I purchased a correct replacement belt and installed it, but the new belt was also loose and when I turned the large flat belt pulley it did not turn the V belt pulley at the same time..
.I double checked the surface setting and I had the vacuum switch set for carpet, but still when I released the handle out of the upright position the brush roll would still not spin..
.My aggravation finally led me to this posting on FixYa’s website..
.The first thing I did was checked the screw to the left of the V belt as suggested by ejmjr5 and this did nothing to solve the problem or create more tension on the V belt, even when the upright handle was not in the upright position..
.After playing around with the surface setting control switch/nob I notice that when I moved the switch out of the HARD surface setting and over to CARPET, I had thought that the switch was set for CARPET as it visually appeared, but I was not pushing the switch over hard enough to click it into the CARPET setting mode..
.VOILA, the brush roll now spins correctly even though the V belt seams to be too loose for the pulley..
.You really have to force the switch into the CARPET setting. Be sure that you hear the switch/nob click into place..
.Now you can effectively clean up after that hangover of a party!.

I have the bissell power force bagged upright vacuum and the brush is not turning, I have replaced the belt but the brush will not move but the metal piece that is hooked to the motor that spins the belt and brush is turning but the brush won’t, and the belt starts to burn
ANSWER : Sounds like your brush roll is seized. Remove the brush roll (see picture) and make both of the end caps spin freely. If not, replace it and you should be set.

Hope that helps.

I have a Bissell Upright Proheat 2x and the dual power brushes wont rotate. I went to replace the drive belt and noticed the drive shaft does not turn when power is turned on. What shall I check next?
ANSWER : Is there a light that comes on when you “turn the power on.” If there is no light, and the unit is plugged in, how do you know there is current going to the motor? Sounds like there might be a break in the cord. Examine the cord near the plug end to see if one of the internal wires is broken. If you cannot tell, then you need to try taking the unit apart where the cord enters the unit and testing continuity with a meter.
