I love the Shark steam cleaner…I have nerve injuries in my dominant right arm and semi-paralysis…SO!!! I am unable to exert much pressure on the handle. MY PROBLEM (which may already be posted)…………..I bought a second machine after the first, only 3-4wks. old, broke while I was using it. It suddenly snapped, the handle, just above the spot where it slides down to produce steam…….I BLAMED MYSELF……….well, I bought a new one, and this a.m., took it off the hook in the pantry. It was behind a broom and dustmop……as I took it out, I wasn’t forcing it…BUT…..it suddenly snapped in the exact same spot on the handle……I am so frustrated. I am a single, currently partially disabled mom, trying to get back to work…using this cleaner instead of a mop and bucket both because I love it and to rest and heal my injured upper extremity and neck……….IS there ANYTHING I can do??or do I have to go to Best Buy and spend another almost $100.00 on a third one?? Does anyone know of a sturdier brand I can buy??. $$$ is an issue as I currently have no income……..I actually got a $2.00 lottery ticket and for once was lucky and won $100.00 which immediately paid for my second Shark. Unwrap the power cord from the handle. Remove the 56.0 mm Phillips head #2 screw located above the water tank cap. Pull the handle to separate it from the body.

I broke the handle part of the shark steamer #53101. I don’t have the book to try to tell you the parts I need. Can you send me a picture or a copy of the steamer. It is purple. The above number may not be the correct one. It is broken in the center part. It has a little small circular piece that joins the two pieces which are broken. Have Dyson DC 14. When tilt to vacuum, the handle and coiled hose comes away from the unit. The problem started when the little purple ridged curved part on front of vacuum cleaner right below handle came loose and a spring fell out from somewhere–don’t know where. I pushed on the purple ridge part and it snapped back on. Now, can’t get it loose again, don’t know where the spring goes, and handle still comes loose from vacuum.

ANSWER : I’m not positive whether or not this is the wand handle because there are several versions of the DC14. However the device the locks and unlocks the wand in place is pretty similar between all the versions.

The first picture is the wand release catch spring. The second is the wand. The purple piece is the wand release catch. It is held in place at the bottom by two plastic pins. Basically the catch release is pressed over the two pins until they lock in the two holes at the bottom of the catch release. To get it off you need to pry it off and over the plastic pins. The spring simply sets in between the wand shaft and the back side of the catch release. There should be a spot on the back of the catch release to help hold the spring in place. If not you may need to replace the catch release.

Hoover on off switch won’t turn off. I have to unplug the vacuum to stop it. I have dismantled the handle and now I can’t get the inditation in the handle to fit over the little silver knob. I saw there was an on/off switch under the handle that is controlled by a piece of the handle.
#1 question for the manufacturer is why don’t they put the switch on the outside instead of having gimicks that turn it on and off… arghhhhhhhh

I have a broken handle for kenmore vacum cleaner model 116.33921300(beltless). I ordered and already got a new handle. I’d like to know how I should deassemblel and put togetger old element to a new handle step by step. Could you help me?

ANSWER : First you have to get the headcover off. After that use a butter knife and/or flat head screwdriver and press forward on the four tabs that retain the pedal. Old Handle just prys off, a new one will press on.

The mechanical off/on in the handle is not working with the electrical on/off switch upon removal of the handle you can cut the machine off by hand but after ensuring the the handle is re-placed in the proper position the machine will not turn off so what new handle or is the rocker switch has worn is now to hard for the mechanical switch to operated
