Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagless Upright VacuumVacuum\015 Hoover windtunnel vacuums fine, but with the vac in the upright position to use the hose attachments, the brush continues to rotate. There seems to be a lot of play in the mechanism and the upright portion of the vac flops backwards slightly when placed in the upright position and puts it in the on position. Any suggestions?\015
How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.
There may be debris wrapped around the roller that is preventing it from turning. This is often due to hair, string, or other larger items that may be suck in the roller. Open the brushroll garage by sliding both of the release buttons away from you and then lift off the garage door.
These are symptoms of bad or dirty bearings. You should remove the brush roll or rolls from the vacuum. Check to see that the bearings at the end of the brush roll allow it to spin freely. Make sure that there is no hair trapped in the bearings.
While a brush roll is great when you are vacuuming carpet, it can damage hard surface floors and some rugs. Having the option to turn off the brush roll is a great option that increases the usability of the vacuum cleaner.
Many people naturally exert more force when they`re pulling their vacuums back than when they`re pushing them forward, but this can leave dirt on the floor. Vacuums are designed to be pushed forward at a rate of about 12 inches per second and pulled back at a rate of 6 inches per second.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.
If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the “on” position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

.Once this is done, you’ll need to unscrew the screw at each end of the brush. Lift the brush out and thoroughly clean it, including the ends.
.

.Check the wiring to make sure they’re connected to the terminals of the motor. Also, check the belt for wear and tear. These belts can last for five years or more, but if it looks bad a good time to replace it is while you have the power head apart.
.When reassembling the vacuum, ensure the belt is fitted properly around the motor shaft and brush.
.Insert the front of the cover first, ensuring the edge fits neatly beneath the lip on the bumper all the way around. It takes a little manipulating to press the back into place. Make sure both tabs click into the locked position. Turn the vacuum over and reinstall screws. Try to rotate brush by hand a few times.
.At this point, plug the vacuum in and turn it on. If the power head doesn’t run, press the reset button. If the power head motor still doesn’t run, it could be due to loose or disconnected wires that lead to the reset switch, a bad reset switch, or even a bad motor. The vacuum needs to be taken to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for further diagnosis and repair.

.Please let me know if this does not help solve your problems..Paul
. Occasionally, you will get debris in the brush roll end caps and the brush roll will spin slower making the sensor think there is an obstruction. You can remove the brush roll, pop the end caps off and clean out any debris to see if that helps.
. If none of the above worked it is possible that the brush roll sensor is bad or the circuit board in the machine is bad. You’ll need a Riccar service center for that. The good news is your Radiance has a 6 year warranty.
.if the belt makes contact with the end of the shaft the brushes will rotate…
.tighten all of course/and take the panel of to check behind the bag to make sure all is tight. (fasteners)
.take off the face plate to make sure that the adjustment for the floor tools is not broke and belt is ok.
