To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe. For best results, sweep or vacuum your floors prior to cleaning with your steam mop.
What Should I Use? Good quality tap water. If you don`t have issues with hard water stains and buildup, your tap water is good.
Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that works well as a mopping solution without leaving any chemical residue on your floors. Although some people don`t like the scent, this odor is evident only as you mop and clean—it will fade away rapidly as the solution dries. The results left behind are a gorgeous, clean floor.
Mix a solution of ½ cup of distilled white vinegar per gallon of warm water. Mop floors. If you`re using it on hardwood floors, it`s very important to wring your mop out as much as possible.
Tips for Using a Clothes Steamer

If your steamer is sputtering, the vents are probably clogged. Clean them by adding a 50:50 mix of distilled white vinegar and water to the steamer. Run for the entire steaming cycle with the nozzle pointed into a sink. Add distilled water and run another cycle to flush the steamer.

Some caution is required when using the remedy as the vinegar is acidic and could potentially cause damage to sensitive tissues. However, when used in diluted amounts for a temporary period, such as with steaming, there is not usually a problem.
Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor. Always read the manual on your mop model thoroughly for complete use guidelines.

Do not use anything other than water in the unit. Shark recommends using distilled water in your steam mop. Shark`s water filtration bottle is also recommended to extend your mop`s life and reduce the potential build-up of hard water residue in the unit which may contribute to steam performance issues.
Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
The Cleaning Nozzle is clogged

Calcium and other minerals may build up in the nozzle, so you may need to clean the nozzle in order to produce steam. To do this, either use the nozzle cleaner provided with the Steam Pocket Mop, or use a straightened-out paper clip.

Your bathroom`s or kitchen`s tiled floors will love a vinegar wash. Put half a cup of vinegar into one gallon of warm water, and away you go. Swish, swish, swish away all the germs, dirt, and grime.
If you add some white vinegar into the bucket of water, it will help to remove any grease or oils from your mop. Then, soak your mop in the vinegar solution for 5 minutes. Finally, rinse the mop head until the water is clear.
While vinegar is a magical cleaner that you can use on almost any surface, its strong odor can make cleaning a little bit of a challenge. Of course, over time, the smell will dissipate, but you shouldn`t have to wait around for the smell to fade.
However, it`s important to remember that while vinegar does work as a disinfectant to some degree, it is not as effective as bleach or commercial cleansers when it comes to killing germs.
Instructions: Fill a microwaveable bowl with 2 cups water and 1/4 cup cleaning vinegar. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for one to two minutes or until the mixture boils and steams up the interior of the appliance.
Mix a half-cup of distilled white vinegar and half-cup of distilled water and pour it into the iron. Inspect the steam vents for white residue or other buildup and use a toothpick or toothbrush dipped in vinegar to clean them out. Plug in the iron, set it for steam, and wait for about five minutes.
Vinegar is safe for cleaning glass, appliances, and ceramic bathroom fixtures. A mixture of half vinegar and half water in spray bottle is unparalleled. Do not use vinegar on hardwood floors or no-wax floors. Over time, vinegar`s acidity will actually take away the shine and dull the floors.
Fill your bathtub with warm (not hot) water. You don`t want the water to be too hot, as this can be damaging to your skin. Add a cup or two of vinegar to the water. You can use either apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, depending on your preference.
Use a 1:1 ratio of diluted vinegar and water and store it in a spray bottle. Then you can spritz and disinfect your kitchen sink, counters, or any other spots that you`d normally use bleach but want to be food-safe. To counteract the vinegar smell, you can use soapy water to rinse the sink afterward.
Create a mopping solution of ½ cup of vinegar and one gallon of warm water. Proper dilution is important, since vinegar`s acidic, abrasive properties can have a stronger effect on some materials than others—tile being one of those. When mopping, less is more; make sure to wring out your mop thoroughly after each dip.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
