Easy Flo EF1400 Central System Vacuum\015 Kenmore S107.34726 central vac…After vacuuming my two bedrooms on the top floor of my house and turning the unit off using the switch on the portable hose. I later changed attachments to vacuum our hardwood floor, only to find out nothing was working. I went down to the canister noticed the power indicator light was not on. Pushed the power button, nothing. Checked the fuse panel, it was good. unplugged the canister and plugged it back in, green light came on. Plugged in hose attachment to the central vac plug switched on noticed the power light went out on the Central vac canister.\\ about 20 sec after switching the power switch on. Took the Canister top off, no smells, no carbon, fuse is still good.Any Ideas ????Thanx\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Another reason the vacuum is not turning on may be that the circuit breaker may have tripped. Check the breaker on the unit and if it continues to fail it usually means the motor is going bad. Another reason can be the bad signal from the unit to the wall inlet.
To use the system, you simply plug a portable hose into one of the wall- or floor-mounted inlets, which is connected to the motor via a network of PVC pipes snaking through the walls and floors. That signals the vacuum to turn on.
They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
Check the power unit reset button located above the power cord. Pressing the button should restore operation. NOTE: The reset button is located on the upper left-hand side of the unit where the low voltage wires connect to the unit. It is most noticeable when popped out after the breaker has been tripped.
If the motor still has some life in it, it will start, but if it is going bad, it will only work for 10-15 minutes or less. If it doesn`t start at all, it is obviously bad. Sometimes slapping the motor or vacuum unit will jar the motor and get it to work again for a few minutes. Intermittent motors should be replaced.
The suction power is to be measured at the end of the tube of a complete vacuum cleaner (i.e. with tube, hose and filters – but without nozzle). Some manufacturers show the results from measurements made at the suction of the actual vacuum cleaner.
A Central Vacuum relay or contractor is an electrically operated switch assembly that allows the Central Vacuum to turn on or off by completing the circuit and sending power directly to the central vacuums motor.
Factors may include having a bad motor, incompatible pump applications or poor ventilation. Constant overheating may indicate a malfunction.
The most common reason for vacuum motors failing is overheating. Most `dry` vacuums have a flow-though motor. These motors use the air they have sucked up the dust with, to cool themselves. When there is a blockage, flow-though motors are unable to cool themselves due to the lack of airflow.
How Vacuum Switches Work. Once the switch registers a change in the negative pressure based on the preset sensitivity of the setpoint, the diaphragm of the switch will open or close the attached circuit, turning off or powering on a device. Vacuum switches can be used with NO and NC states.
The VACUUM command works by copying the contents of the database into a temporary database file and then overwriting the original with the contents of the temporary file. When overwriting the original, a rollback journal or write-ahead log WAL file is used just as it would be for any other database transaction.
The level you set your vacuum depends on the height of your carpet. For bare floors, use the lowest or bare floor setting, for short and medium pile carpets use a medium setting and finally, for plush carpets use the highest setting.
As a central vacuum manufacturer we use the 120 and 240 volt motors. The 120 and 240 motors will not be adversely affected if used with lower voltages. The 120 volt motor will be fine on 110 volts. Likewise, a 240 volt motor will be fine on 220 or 230 volts.
The hose contains both the high voltage (120v) for the electric powered brush and the low voltage (24v) used to turn the system on and off. Both sets of wires are molded into the hose. This hose will work with standard vacuum inlets.
Vacuum System Failures:

Reduces or eliminates effectiveness of the turn coordinator, attitude indicator, and heading indicator. Discovered by a low indication on the vacuum gauge or unusual instrument indicators. When the primary air inlet is blocked, the backup inlet automatically opens due to pressure.

All vacuum cleaners operate based on air flowing from the opening at the cleaning head or tool, through the vacuum cleaner and the bag and/or filter system and then out the exhaust port. This airflow is created by the vacuum motor, which also may be referred to as the suction motor.
Check the hose by inserting it directly into the main vacuum unit in the garage or basement. Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose.
Simply disconnect the vacuum pump from the system and plumb a vacuum gauge directly into the suction port. Run the vacuum pump. Note the readings on the vacuum controller display.
A vacuum pump`s main function is to change the pressure in a contained space to create a full or partial vacuum either mechanically or chemically. Pressure will always try to equalize across connected regions as gas molecules flow from high to low to fill the entire area of that volume.
A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.
The average life expectancy of a mid-range vacuum cleaner is about six years. You can fix or replace things like blocked filters, jammed brush rolls, frayed hoses, worn-out stick vac batteries and broken accessories yourself.
Fine particles. Fine particles are no match for even the strongest vacuums. Construction dust, makeup, used coffee grounds, fireplace ash, and other fine particles can burn out the motor and be released back into the air. It`s best to sweep these items up to keep your vacuum – and yourself – safe.
Vacuum solenoid valves, also known as Electro-pneumatic pressure converters, Electric switch over valves or Boost control solenoids are used to control many systems of engines by controlling actuators – for example, variable geometry of the turbocharger, EGR valves, various bypass or throttle valves etc. [1-3].

ANSWER : What is the exact model number of that unit. There are several with that name. The only things that it could be are the handle mechanism that activates the brushes or the indicator is not working nad the level that selects the brushes is not working. The unit has no belts.

I have a model 1561 electrolux central vac..can i use a hose and accessories from a model 15448 model electrolux central vac to compliment my central vac unit
ANSWER : If the hose fits into the inlets, then there should be no problem.

Central vac our central vac will not work unless the main vac in the garage is switched on manualy…. its sucking fine but i have to switch it off at the main switch in the garage after i have used it normaly i just plug in the hose and vac away and it switches itself off we have just had cable installed with a fisher guy in the walls do you think that would be the problem thanks a lot
ANSWER : It is possible that the low voltage wiring that controls your central vacuum has been damaged during the cable work. You can check to see if the low voltage relay is working by shorting the two terminals together at the unit. Just disconnect the two small (18-22 gauge) wires from the unit and short across the terminals where the wires connect. If the unit comes on, the vacuum is fine, and it is most likely the low voltage control wires that have been damaged. It should be a pretty easy fix, if you can get to where the wires are located. They are probably just pulled apart at a joint. Good Luck!!

Central Vac will not turn on.
ANSWER : These problems are nearly exclusively caused by a bad circut board and replacing it is the fix. Bad boards can cause many different effects so its nearly impossible to be sure. The 9v signal wire is not enough to short out an entire unit so it is unlikely the hose. If it is a direct connect system and you are pulling power from the 110 somehow that would cause main unit problems but that is unlikely at best. Sounds like a failed board to me.

The brushes on the Hoover All Terrain Steamvac won’t turn. However, when I try to turn them manually they will turn. So, why won’t they turn when the machine is turned on?
ANSWER : Some vaccums have a belt on the brushes. might need a new one if it does have the belt

No suction I am getting no suction on my central vac at the vac. I do not believe that the piping is plugged up, the vacuum is not creating suction. What are the causes of no suction at the vacuum and how do I take the top half of the Nutone central vac off?
ANSWER : Use the guide at builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html to find the issue and solution. Most likely you need to test it without any filter and be sure the bottom of the unit is attached 🙂 To get access to the motors you need to unbolt the very top sides.

Kenmore Canister Vac, Progressive, 25512 255513 model. Brush won’t turn. One end of the brush roller, end closest to belt, is off center which is keeping it from turning freely. The end cap is like a square. Other ends turns fine. Do these end caps come off? If so how? Can’t get it to budge. This is exactly what is keep brush roller from turning.
ANSWER : Take a flat head screw driver and pry the end cap off. It will come off. You might have some string or hair around it causing it to not turn.

On my M&S Air Vac AV425 central vaccuum system, the system usually turns on by inserting the vaccuum hose into one of the vaccuum outlets. However, it now runs continuously.
