Press the cancel/reset button to do a soft reset on your microwave. If necessary, perform a hard reset by unplugging your microwave for 30 minutes, then plug it back in.
—Many people become nervous about repairs when the microwave touchpad is involved because it`s the most delicate component in the appliance. But you don`t have to handle the delicate work to do the repair, simply have the right replacement part-assembly.
If the diode burns out, the magnetron won`t receive enough voltage to operate, preventing the microwave from heating. When the diode fails, it is often visibly burned out. Inspect the diode and if the diode is burned out, replace it.
1 Answer. Press the “Off/Clear` button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the microwave. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any program you have started. Press it when the cooking complete reminder appears on the display, for example, and the “Your Food is Ready” message will disappear.
Replacing a malfunctioning touch panel can cost between $100 and $300. If the repair is simple and requires minimal tweaks to the control board, you may spend toward the lower end of the price range, but if you need to invest in a new touch panel, expect to spend toward the higher end of the price range.
While a microwave looks like an appliance that is difficult to take apart, it really isn`t. In fact, in terms of appliance repair, replacing the control panel and display on a microwave is actually one of the more simple repairs you can make.
You can also try fixing your touchpad by updating or uninstalling its drivers, the software that keeps it running. If you`ve tried everything but still can`t fix your touchpad, contact your manufacturer, Microsoft, or a repair shop.
With normal usage for an average family and good maintenance, a microwave often lasts for 7 to 8 years. If the microwave is used less frequently by a single person or a couple and is well-maintained, the lifespan can increase to up to 10 years.
Problem with the line fuse

The first and main cause of microwave not working but has power is an issue with the line fuse. If more than required current flows through the microwave circuitry then the line fuse will blow. To find out whether this is the main cause, you can make use of a multimeter for continuity.

Your microwave is fitted with special Child Safety programme, which enables the control panel of oven to be “locked” so that children or anyone unfamiliar with it cannot operate it accidentally.
You may have seen some of the more “out there” suggestions for storage, such as the fridge or microwave. While these do block the signal between your keys and car, they`re not the perfect solution. After all, you may end up causing damage to your keys if you forget that you put them in the microwave.
If the display isn`t working at all, either the main control board or the display board could be at fault. If the display goes out partially, the display board is more commonly at fault. Need help finding your model number? Confirm the microwave is plugged in and there is power at the wall receptacle.
Countertop units

Some experts say it`s not worth repairing a malfunctioning countertop microwave because the average cost of repairs runs about $70–$100 not including parts—about half the cost of a good-quality new one.

Microwaves are a fickle appliance when it comes to repairing. It is not so much that microwaves are difficult to repair as issues can range from relatively simple to somewhat complex just like any other appliance. However, what makes them such a capricious target of repair is the cost.
Check the Power Supply

The first step for any appliance troubleshooting is to check the power cable and power supply. If the screen has gone completely blank and the buttons don`t beep anymore, there`s a chance that your microwave is just unplugged or is powered by a tripped breaker. Start at the back of the appliance.

Fuses are located in many places inside the microwave, including the top, side, and behind the vent grille. Using the wiring diagram can help you locate the appropriate fuse. Once you have located the fuse, remove any necessary wires and fasteners to free it from the microwave.
Thermal fuses will blow to prevent the microwave from overheating and potentially causing a fire. A fuse will also blow if there is a surge in electricity, which can cause a short circuit.
Your microwave may have two types of fuse. The line fuses are usually familiar ceramic tubes, about 1¼ inches (3 cm) long. The thermal cutoff fuses are typically squat black cylinders with two prongs on the same side. Their exact location depends on your model, but check behind the control panel.
If your touchpad isn`t working, it may be a result of a missing or out-of-date driver. Updating or reinstalling your touchpad drivers in Device Manager may help solve the problem. To open Device Manager, type device manager in the search box on the taskbar, then select Device Manager.
Method 1: Enable or disable the touchpad with keyboard keys

Press the corresponding button (such as F6, F8 or Fn+F6/F8/Delete) to disable the touchpad.

Press and hold (or right-click) the taskbar, and then select Show touchpad button. Select the touchpad button on the taskbar.
Though microwave retains the nutrients, the texture of food, color, and taste will change, compared to cooking in a stove. It leads to dehydration, as the water content decreases and food are more prone to drying, and the cooked food is sometimes unevenly cooked.
Old age. If your microwave is approaching the 10-year mark, consider replacing it with a new, energy-efficient unit. Odd smells. A burning smell, smoke, or sparks are a sign something is amiss and you should immediately turn off and unplug the microwave and call for a repair.
Our survey team recommends that you repair any higher-end OTR microwave that`s 4 years old or less and consider repairing one that`s 5 to 7 years old. Replacement is recommended for any OTR microwave that`s 8 years or older.

Nutone Model CV353; runs for several minutes and then shuts off. After a couple of hours I can turn on again, but again only last a couple of minutes. Possible relay problem?
ANSWER : Check the filter. If it’s dirty, thoroughly rinse it in cool water, then let it thoroughly dry before using. If you don’t have an extra filter to use during this time, you should get one.
.It could also be a clogged hose or pipe. These would cause the motor to overheat, thus shutting off. Check hose at end for suction. If weak or nonexistent, detach hose and try dropping a penny or dime, or marble, down the hose. If it comes out the end, the hose is probably clear. If this is the case, you need to check other outlets.
