Our Verdict. The Dyson V8 is better for most uses than the Dyson V7. The V8 performs far better on bare floors, where it clears large debris like cereal with much less difficulty. It also has a longer maximum runtime and has a battery life indicator to let you know how roughly how much charge is left.
The key differences with the design are that the main unit is slightly larger than the V6. The larger unit means that the Dyson V7 has a larger dust bin capacity at 0.54L (up from 0.4L on the V6) and a longer battery life at 30 mins run time (up from 20 mins on the V6).
Based on the design and overall look of the Dyson V8, the V7, which was launched in 2017, uses a similar digital motor and accessories. However, being a less expensive model to purchase, it has some differences to the higher priced V8.
As for battery life, the V7 runs for up to 30 minutes on powerful mode. The V6 lasts for 20 minutes and the V8 runs for up to 40 minutes. Crank the cordless vacuum cleaners to “Max” mode and the V7 will last you a mere 6mins, the same as the V6 and a little behind the V8, which lasts a minute longer at seven minutes.

High-suction vacuums tend to use motors with 1,000 watts or more. Suction pressure, which is measures in kilopascals, is another great way to discern a vacuum`s power, although fewer manufacturers disclose this number. But if they do — look for a range of between 5 to 20 kilopascals.
Cylinder vacuums are typically more powerful and have a larger dust capacity, so need emptying less frequently. They also have a larger cleaning radius — the length of the cord — than upright vacuums. That`s why you`ll find the professionals use this type of vacuum cleaner in offices and hotels.
