If the device is clogged, or the dirt cup is full, this may cause the unit to overheat. Unplug the unit and allow it cool, empty the dirt cup and clean the filter.

NOTE: The reset button is located on the upper left-hand side of the unit where the low voltage wires connect to the unit. It is most noticeable when popped out after the breaker has been tripped.
Consumer Reviews On Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners

Consumers give high marks to some Dirt Devil models like the Breeze canister and the Featherlite bagged vacuum – where both get on average 4 out 5 stars based on over 200 ratings. That means that Dirt Devil has designed the perfect vacuum for the majority of home users.

A cyclonic vacuum cleaner, pulls the dirt and dust at high speed through a filter and into a collection vessel. A small air vortex is made inside the bin by the motor, which separates the particles from the air and pushes them to the sides of the bin.

Soil. When your family`s shoes bring outside dirt and soil inside your clean home, you may be tempted to get out the vacuum. Bad idea. You could stain your carpet and cause the particles to get embedded even deeper into the material.
The moving air particles rub against any loose dust or debris as they move, and if the debris is light enough and the suction is strong enough, the friction carries the material through the inside of the vacuum cleaner. This is the same principle that causes leaves and other debris to float down a stream.
Cyclone dust collectors are a type of inertial separator that make use of centrifugal, gravitational, and-or inertial forces that separate dust from the airstream. The dust and particle-laden air or gas enters the cylindrical chamber tangentially at one or more points and leaves through a central opening.

Most robotic vacuum cleaners use one or two spinning brushes along with a rolling brush. These brushes collect dirt towards the center of the room, where the electric motor creates suction. Dust, hair, and everything else collected by the vacuum cleaner is sucked and stored into a removable dust container.

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead… the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope
ANSWER : Hi. On some models, one switch controls all of the power. Your issue, which is no working switch is almost certainly a blown triac on the circuit board in the canister – kenmore part number KC86WBZRZ000

Looks like a common fault with this particular model judging by the number of complaints on the web.
.
.Take it to your local vacuum repair shop and they should be able to fix it for a nominal fee.

Hi, I have a Kenmore Whispertone canister vacuum that I purchased in 2007. The model # is 116.22271503C, which seems to confuse the parts people. I need to buy a new powerhead & a few months ago was given a price of $75, but now Sears Canada tells me the part # is 20 116KC5OXBZRZUO1 described as Power Mate Assembly for $192.99. I thought the Power Mate was the small powerhead for stairs, upholstery, etc. Have they located the wrong part for me, or is this really what it costs?? Thanks in advance
ANSWER : Yes, powerheads are quite expensive. That sounds about right.
.You can check Ebay for better prices, but check the shipping rates before ordering.

ANSWER : I had the same problem, called Bissell over 10 times! They send me 3 plastic inserts for the dirt chamber, not the problem. I solved it by throwing the Bissell away and buying a Eureka bagged vacuum, no more problems.

My Discovery 4210 Roomba will run normally for about 20 minutes on a smooth, wooden floor. It then begins the following sequence: run forward a few inches, turn in a tight counter-clockwise circle a few revolutions, stop, power off a few seconds, power up, repeat cycle from forward run. The sequence can be repeated seemingly endlessly if I don’t turn off the power manually. I’ve replaced the motor, and led revolution sensor system on the left drive wheel. I’ve blown the dust out of everywhere. A
ANSWER : This robot vacuum has a electronic micro processor that controls the unit and tells it how to operate and where to go based on programmed parameters. It’s quite a technical marvel. I have dropped a link here for contacting the company tech support line. They will be able to find a replacement part or give you the correct solution to the misbehavior of the machine.
