Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn`t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again.
Heat: To effectively sanitize, the steam cleaner must heat the water to 200 degrees. The hotter it gets, the drier the steam, resulting in a lower probability of damaging certain surfaces with excess water.
Shark Pocket will not make steam
Check that your water tank is full, if you find it is empty, add water. Also check that the tank is free of any cracks or holes that could cause water to leak, and that the tank is properly seated in the device`s housing.
How hot does it get? We used a hi-tech thermometer that registered the Shark`s steam at 217 degrees. We also tested on wood floors with no problems. “Does It Work?” We give the Shark Steam Mop a yes.
There is condensation in the stand steamer`s hose To solve this, lift your stand steamer`s head to straighten the hose vertically and hold your steamer in an upright position: This will allow any condensation and steam to flow again. After this, your stand steamer should steam again.
First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank. Other solutions may cause breakdown of the gasket and/or other parts of the machine.
To create steam, water must be heated to at least its boiling point at 212° F. This is hot enough to kill many microbes and break down all dirt and grime. Some heavy-duty steam cleaners heat water to more than 375° F, which is hot enough to kill dust mites, fleas and their eggs, bed bugs, and other house pests.
To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe. For best results, sweep or vacuum your floors prior to cleaning with your steam mop.
Plug the mop in to turn it on.
The mop only takes about 30 seconds to fully heat up.

Steaming tips
Bring the water to a rolling boil (bubbles all over), and add food (fish, vegetables, meat) to the steamer in a single layer. The steamer should be about 2.5cm above the boiling water, and the steamer should be covered with a tight-fitting lid to retain the heat.
Hot and cold will work equally well. A steam shower typically does not use enough water to need the hot water line.
Heat builds up very quickly—a few seconds with some models. If the steam mop is left in one spot for too long, it can apply too much steam and heat to a small area and possibly damage the flooring.
Most steam cleaners are designed to be used without detergent, so stick to water only with these. Some models, on the other hand, can be used with detergent – follow the manufacturer`s instructions.
What Should I Use? Good quality tap water. If you don`t have issues with hard water stains and buildup, your tap water is good.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Hot water heating recirculates water through a loop. It needs a boiler or heat exchanger in order to bring the water up to temperature for heating purposes. Conversely, in a steam system, the water is evaporated through a boiler to produce heat.
Water can be heated by
injecting steam.
For some applications a direct heating of water by injecting steam may be convenient. A direct heating system is very simple since it don`t require heat exchangers. Fouling of surfaces, which may be a major problem in certain processes, is also avoided.
Using the Shark Steam Mop is pretty straightforward. First, attach the mop pad to the mophead, then fill the reservoir with water using the filling flask. Once the steam mop is plugged in, it takes about 20 seconds for the steam to build up, and you`ll hear the mop hissing.

Typical steam cleaners can use anywhere from 1000 to 1800 watts. (For comparison sake, a typical lamp uses about 60 watts, while a typical computer uses about 365 watts).
Do: Wipe up excess dirt before steaming. Steam mops essentially employ steam to loosen grime, which the mop head then clears away, but there`s no suction element in this appliance. This means that surface dirt will need to be vacuumed or swept up before you begin or you`ll only succeed in pushing dirt across the house.
