How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

This usually happens because the filters need washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine continues to overheat, please refrain from using it until it has cooled down sufficiently and then carry out the performance checks.
TheDC25 has 220 air watts of suction power. The Dyson DC25 uses a HEPA filter. What exactly is a HEPA filter? A HEPA filter (high efficiency particulate air) is a high-efficiency air filter that is capable of removing at least 99.97 percent of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers or larger.
220 air watts. Ideal for pet hair. Length of hose 4.4m.
Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filters need washing or your machine is blocked. Carry out the performance checks, and if your machine cuts out unplug and leave for at least 2 hours to cool down.
Overheating usually occurs because the dust bag has not been emptied, filter has not been cleaned or there is a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bent hand piece. If your vacuum shuts down unexpectedly, make sure you turn the vacuum off and unplug it from the wall socket.
We reinvented motors to make them smaller, lighter and more power dense. Our Dyson Hyperdymium motors spin at 125,000 RPM – on average 5 times faster than a jet engine. A motor this powerful means that our vacuums have more powerful suction.
Air watts are a European test standard (IEC60312) for vacuums. An upright vacuum cleaner should be around 100 air watts and a cylinder vacuum cleaner needs to be about 220 air watts.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has two filters in it, a pre-motor and a post-motor filter.

Dyson was designed and patented by a British, had it made in Malaysia (Johor Bahru), – as it is cheaper to make here.
This genuine Dyson vacuum part is the reset switch for the Dyson DC24 and D25 uprights. This switch needs to be activated if you experience a power surge while vacuuming, and your vacuum turns off as a result.
The company is going to focus on its smaller, battery powered models, it said. It made the announcement as it revealed its new Cyclone V10 cordless vacuum, which it says is “why we`ve stopped developing corded vacuums”.
As the cleaner head and filter fills with dirt and debris over time, all the built-up debris begins to emit a burnt-smelling odour. You may need to remove and clean out the vacuum`s filter. We need to advise you to stop using your machine and request that you contact your local customer support team.
Sadly, most Dyson cleaners do not feature a reset switch. So the best way to resolve the problem is to unplug the machine and let it rest and cool down for a minimum of one hour. This automatically resets the appliance and makes it ready for use.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
Overheating due to clogged exhaust filter

The exhaust filter can also get clogged, causing a problem with the motor cooling. Therefore, you should also check the exhaust filter if the vacuum cleaner smells burnt. It is usually located on the top or back of the unit, right where the exhaust air comes out.

Dyson Hyperdymium™ motors work very differently to conventional brushed motors. We replaced the brush with digital pulse technology, added neodymium magnets and built a ceramic shaft that`s three times stronger than steel. This makes our motors durable and powerful, yet smaller, lighter and cleaner than ever before.
Which Dyson vacuum is the most powerful? In terms of sheer suction power, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the most powerful option in Dyson`s current lineup, offering 290 AW, or air watts, of suction power. Among the brand`s cordless stick vacuums, the Dyson V15 Detect is the most powerful, with a rating of 230 AW.
Is It Energy Efficient? Although the Dyson Hot isn`t a dramatically energy-efficient small appliance (it draws a typical 1,500 watts of juice), the manner in which it releases warm, “amplified” air (up to 99 degrees) into a room using patented Air Multiplier technology—quickly, forcefully, and evenly—is efficient.
The air purifier consumes: Low level approx. 1950 watts.
Most Dyson vacuums are designed for use with a standard household electrical outlet and have a voltage rating of around 110-120 volts. Some models are also available for use in countries with higher voltage standards, such as 220-240 volts.
The suction capacity indicates how powerful the vacuum cleaner is, and the air volume indicates how much air the vacuum cleaner is able to move. The suction power adds up the suction capacity and the air volume and indicates how much power the vacuum cleaner has.
A vacuum cleaner gets power from a regular electrical socket, with the average upright design requiring between 450 and 3000 watts. However, the most often used versions use around 1400 watts, equivalent to approximately 1.4 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity each hour.
The Airwrap may not get as hot as other hair tools, but it`s still heating up your hair enough to set a style—you don`t want to do damage. With the current version, you should ideally let your hair air dry or rough dry it with the blow dryer attachment.

ANSWER : Video of what pholefono is talking about

Bissell PowerForce Turbo: The motor spindle becomes very hot while spinning, causing the new belt to burn and break. Is this because the motor is overheating?
ANSWER : Something is preventing the brush roller from turning even though it seeems to be OK when not in contact with the floor. The motor shaft is spinning on one spot of the belt, causing the heating, the smell, and eventual belt failure. I have had brush rollers that appeared OK but proved to have pet hair jammed between the end caps and the roller itself causing rotation to be very difficult
