(iii) Canister vacuum cleaner

It is powered by a motor and has a receptacle that collects dust. It can clean several surfaces- bare hard floors, carpeted areas, wooden floors, tiles, cars, stairs, walls, ceiling, corners and upholstery- furniture, curtains, etc.

A canister vacuum consists of a wheeled body that is attached to a vacuum wand and power head via a flexible plastic hose. The canister portion of the vacuum contains the main motor, filter, and any dust bags; depending on the model, the power head may also contain a smaller motor.
The motor filter is located behind the Electrolux S bag inside the vacuum. To open, push upward on the “S BAG” tab to reveal the interior housing.
Extremely quiet

One of the quietest bagless machines in the Electrolux range.

Drum Vacuum Cleaners

A Drum Vacuum Cleaner is similar to a Canister Vacuum Cleaner, but it is bigger and more powerful. It is usually a vertical cylindrical drum with a separate vacuum head attached to the main unit with a flexible hose.

For a large home, the power and easy handling make a canister a good choice. And if you have a lot of above-the-floor cleaning tasks such as drapes or upholstery, or a lot of stairs to deal with, a canister makes more sense than an upright vacuum.
This airflow is created by the vacuum motor, which also may be referred to as the suction motor. The vacuum motor consists of electrical components attached to a fan or multiple fans.
Remove the filter and empty out any loose contents/rubbish. Rinse under warmer water for 1 minute (max 400C). Leave out to dry, making sure it is completely dry before refitting to your vacuum.
The filter on an Electrolux front-load washer is located on the lower front panel of the washer, typically at the bottom, close to the floor. The filter is behind an access panel that can be opened with your fingers or a flat-edge screwdriver or coin. If you`re unable to locate the filter, consult the owner`s manual.
Founded in Sweden in 1919 by entrepreneur Axel Wenner-Gren, Electrolux has shaped living for the better for 100 years by reinventing what great taste, care and wellbeing experiences for our consumers.
Our customers love their Electrolux vacuum cleaners, and it`s easy to see why. Electrolux vacuum cleaners are known for their superior quality, suction power, and durability. Some customers noted that their old Electrolux vacuums lasted them over 30 years– that`s no small feat!
The Electrolux® Oxygen® EL6988E canister vacuum cleaner delivers a complete clean for multiple surfaces in your home. HEPA filtration gives you the freshest, cleanest air possible. With fingertip controls, you can switch from carpets to bare floors without bending.
They`re mighty – canister vacuums often have stronger suction power than most uprights, so you`ll get a deeper clean. They`re typically quiet, so you don`t have to worry about scaring the baby or the dog! They often come with tool attachments that help clean things like stairs, blinds, and upholstery.
Shop vacs come with a more powerful motor than home vacuums because they need to suck up big and heavy objects. They have powerful lifting and suction capabilities. They can remove both liquid and dust particles with ease. Home vacs are less powerful as they only suck small particles.
Actor Lloyd Bridges was the company`s spokesperson. In 2000, the North American rights to the Electrolux brand name were sold to Electrolux Group of Sweden, which since 1968 had been unaffiliated. The corporation that originally manufactured Electrolux vacuums has been known as Aerus since 2001.
In general, bagged models tend to work more efficiently than bagless vacuum cleaners because they have an extra layer of protection for their filtration system. If someone in your household lives with allergies or asthma, it`s in your best interest to choose a model that will filter out the air as best as possible.
Air watts refer to the number of watts used by the vacuum cleaner to carry a unit of air through an opening or nozzle. The higher the air watts, the higher the suction power.
Because water filtration vacuums use water as a filter, they have no problem cleaning up wet messes. So, in essence, the difference is all in the way that the dirt and air gets filtered, which in all reality works much better with water than with a general bag or filter.
With vacuum bags, the air inside these items is sucked out, and their bulky size is reduced to a fraction of their initial volume. The bags also keep items away from dust and moisture, and they allow you to have additional free space in your room.
The suction is 22Kpa which is very powerful, easily to pick up the hair, dust and sand in a short time.
The suction power is measured in Watt (W) and is typically between 250 W and 450 W for machines with 1 motor. The suction power is to be measured at the end of the tube of a complete vacuum cleaner (i.e. with tube, hose and filters – but without nozzle).
Rinse the filter

Any fine dust remaining in the filter can usually be removed with a gentle rinse under a cold tap – hold the filter under the running water until the water runs clear. You shouldn`t need to use any detergent – just water.

Many vacuums have not one but two filters. The pre-motor or air inlet filter can be found before airflow travels past the motor. This filter is designed to catch dirt and dust to protect the vacuum cleaner`s internal parts.
ULPA Filter Vacuum

So, if you`re looking for the absolute best in indoor air quality, vacuums with ULPA filters are the best on the market. ULPA stands for `ultra-low particulate air,` and vacuums with these filters are perfect in environments that demand an extremely high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.

Our Electrolux canister vacuum just stopped working when we were vacuuming the floor. The power does come on when the power head is attached but as soon as the power head is removed the power shuts off. I tried pressing the reset button but that doesn’t help. Is there a solution that I can try at home?

Is there anything else I can try? Model Callisto
ANSWER : Try having someone turn the machine on and off while you pull the cord in and out with the cord more angled towards the on/off switch. Sometimes these models have a break in the cord rewind and will not put the power through to the motor.

Keep in mind this is repairable, and if the unit is less than 5 years old it should still be under warranty.

Good luck .

The power brush floor rug attachment on my Eureka 6997 A Oxygen Canister Vacuum goes on an off as I use it. I replaced the The power cord from the handle has 2 plug in connections:
1 at the handle / upper wand
1 at the lower wand top of the power brush attachment

I replaced the entire wand assembly and it worked great for a year or so and now it’s doing the same thing again. I was told to keep the power switch on the handle set to off when connecting the power brush attachment or it will bu

ANSWER : This is from the prongs not making a good connection causing an arch inside the plugg causing what looks like rust on the plugg. I would try snugging up the connection by squeezing the female section to get a better connection on the prongs when it is plugged in together.

The motor on my Epic 6500 works, the hose is sucking, but the power head isn;t working… I tried the sidestep power head and that one works. Ive opened and replaced the belt and that is fine. The bulb was already burned out and wasn’t replaced so I cant tell if theres power to the head. What else could it be?
ANSWER : Connect the power nozzle directly to the hose and try.
.Check the terminals where the wand connects to the PN. If any are discolored or cracked, that may be the problem.
.Open the PN and check for loose or broken wires and connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
.The reset switch could be broken or worn out. You can check this with a continuity tester or multimeter.
.If none of these solve the problem the vacuum needs to be taken to your local Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and repair.

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead… the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope
ANSWER : Hi. On some models, one switch controls all of the power. Your issue, which is no working switch is almost certainly a blown triac on the circuit board in the canister – kenmore part number KC86WBZRZ000

Looks like a common fault with this particular model judging by the number of complaints on the web.

.Take it to your local vacuum repair shop and they should be able to fix it for a nominal fee.
