Remove the brushroll and clean all hair, string, and lint from the brushroll bearings. If the vacuum cleaner brush still doesn`t spin after you clean the brushroll, consider replacing the brushroll.
The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
One of the most common reasons a washer won`t spin clothes is an imbalanced wash load. To protect against damage, a spin cycle won`t engage when your machine senses an unbalanced load. If there are too few items in the washer or if it`s overloaded, the load will be unstable, and the spin cycle won`t start.
The essential role of the roller brush
The roller brush is the combination of a belt, a roller, and sometimes a small vacuum head motor. The roller spins, and the bristles attached to it sweep up debris that then gets sucked into the dirt container of the vacuum.
Inspecting the Vacuum Commutator for Motor Brush Problems
Test that by turning the motor off and pushing on the center shaft, the armature. If it has any play, besides spinning, then replace the motor. If solid then replace the brushes – motor brush replacement instructions.
Clear the brush roll of any hair and debris and inspect by placing it on its end and spin. The brush should spin freely. If it doesn`t spin; it may be time to replace.
Beater Bars
Many vacuums feature a rotating brush, known as a beater bar, which is designed to agitate the carpet fibers to help loosen soil deep in the pile. This feature is helpful in many cut-pile carpets but can be damaging to certain styles.
Brushes. According to iRobot, brushes should be replaced every 6-12 months. Robot vacuums like the iRobot Roomba j7+ have multiple brushes that allow it to clean.
A rotating brush is used in conjunction with a machine that spins it on a cylinder or on a ring. This spinning motion cleans objects that come in contact with the brush`s bristles. These brushes can be found on shoe polishers, street cleaners, conveyor belts, runway sweepers and more.
The rollers must spin freely to work properly. If the drum rollers are worn out, the dryer won`t turn properly. To determine if the support rollers are worn out, remove the belt from the dryer and try turning the drum by hand. If the drum does not rotate freely, check the support rollers for wear.
After a year or so, you may need to replace your vacuum`s beater brush. If the bristles seem to be squished, broken or are varying heights, it`s time to replace the brush. These can be found online with the vacuum`s brand and model of your vacuum cleaner.
On average a brushroll should be replaced every year or two. If you`re not sure if the vacuum is working as good as it could or should be, replacing the brushroll can be an easy fix .
There Is Blockage on the Brushroll
There may be debris wrapped around the roller that is preventing it from turning. This is often due to hair, string, or other larger items that may be suck in the roller. Open the brushroll garage by sliding both of the release buttons away from you and then lift off the garage door.
Check for a clogged hose or filter; unclog the hose and replace the filter. Wait 45 minutes for the vacuum to cool; then plug in the vacuum. Turn the power switch to the “I-On” position to start the vacuum. If the vacuum still does not start, contact Customer Service at 1-800-798-7398.
Brush Roller
Frequently found in vacuum cleaners with electric power nozzles, brush rollers (also known as roller brushes or brushrolls) agitate fibers to provide deep cleaning on area rugs and carpeting.
Next to the motor, the belt on your vacuum is just about the most important part of your vacuum. Without the belt to spin the brushroll, most vacuums won`t pick up on carpeting at all! If your vacuum uses a rubber belt, check it once a month for cracks, melting, and especially, slippage.
A carpet beater bar is essentially a floor nozzle for a vacuum equipped with a rotating beater bar that spins while the vacuum is in use. By spinning, it agitates the carpet and loosens any lead dust that might be stuck in carpet fibers.
The beater bar, sometimes called the bristle bar, is the rotating brush on the bottom of your vacuum. It digs into carpet nap to fluff it up and remove hair while allowing the vacuuming power to suck up embedded dirt and debris.

If the drum stops spinning mid-cycle, try stopping the machine, draining the water and rearranging the laundry. You might be using too much detergent or an inappropriate type for your appliance. In this case, your washing machine will stop the spinning cycle and try to absorb the excess foam in its drum.

My model F5906-900 — problem is the brushes have stoped working… I pulled the brush assembly out by holding the two tabs, and all seems clean and the brush assembly rotates easly… onced the brush assembly is removed. ANSWER : (1) Assure the Brush Control on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
.(2) Remove the brush assembly by pulling/unlatching it from base on each side.
.(3) Does one of the brushes have the drive pin present? It should be about ¼ inch square, and two inches long. It attaches the brushes to the drive mechanism.
.(4) Remove and clean the intake filter. One the base of the cleaner, behind the brushes, squeeze the two red abs together and pull the panel down to access the screen. Clean the hair/debris off the screen and reassemble.

Electrolux vacuum brush not turning problem:
was vacuuming and rug got caught auto shut off kicked off power to brush. instead of hitting red button to restart brush I disconnected brush to vacuum some hair in Conner. after i reconnected the brush and hit the red button but no power to brush. Light won’t even switch on. Hope you can help
ANSWER : Under the vacuum, there is a guard..remove the guard , either by 2 screws or by 2 clips..there is a belt under the guard..that is connected to the brush..the belt need to be replaced.

Have a Hoover model S3670 and the beater brush no longer spins. Have checked the beater belt and it is good, did find out that the light bulb in the unit was bad. Any suggestions on how to test the motor that drives the belt or determine the reason the beater brush is not working?
ANSWER : I usually test the motor with a cord with alligator clips on the wires, and attach them to the black and white wires on the motor ( remove the belt first ). A very common problem with this model was a short circuit developing in the short cord that runs from the nozzle motor into the swivel neck. This is probably where the problem lies. Replacing the cord is best left to someone with experience.

Hi, I have not owned my electrolux pronto 2 in 1 for very long but the roller brush has stopped turning. The handheld part works and the green light is on. ANSWER : Check the end cap bearings … and replace the belt even though it may not be broken. Put a drop of sewing machine oil (no more) in each end cap bearing.

Brushes only work when Dust Bin is removed!!
I have cleaned & cleaned this thing! It runs for about 2 mins & stops, says “Clean Brushes”! and now it’s very noticeable it’s not picking up well… but is picking up a bit. If the brushes work , without the bin, the problem , the problem could be caused , due the failure at the bin lock mechanism. There is a sensor that checks if the BIN is connected properly or not. This problem is best resolved by getting the same replaced .

My Roomba only works correctly when I leave out the rubbery type brush (not the fiber filled brush)…… when I leave the rubber one in, it doesn’t pick up & then finally stops & says REMOVED BRUSHES….. This would expose the cover of the gear box. On the left side, with the white nylon holes in which the square ends of the brushes plug. Remove the cover of the gear box with a tiny Philips screw driver might be there are 6 screws. Inside you would see two Golden Retrievers. Once, cleaned meticulously, the Roomba will be back. If this does not resolve the issue then probably needs this part

Kenmore 35923 beltless brush not working after rolling up shlace.
ANSWER : Its due to the grip of the brush and the motor not getting fit its became little bit like streched so this happens and in this case replacing the brushes and checking any other component broken near to it is necessary.
