Electrolux Guardian Bagged Canister Vacuum
How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
Why Does My Electrolux Vacuum Head Turn On and Off? Typically, an intermittent on/off issue has to do with a connection between the vacuum head and the hose handle.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Electrolux Stick Vacuums
The filter assembly is not washable and should be placed every six months. As with the canisters and uprights, an excessively dirty filter leads to motor noise, loss of suction, and overheating.
If your vacuum cleaner keeps turning off, this could be due to the following reasons: Blockages – check the hose and head for any obstructions. Filter – always check your filters, if these are clogged this could be causing the vacuum cleaner to work harder and lose suction power.
A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.
The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
Clog located in the vacuum hose
Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.
Remove the filter and empty out any loose contents/rubbish. Rinse under warmer water for 1 minute (max 400C). Leave out to dry, making sure it is completely dry before refitting to your vacuum.
Vacuum cleaners are often designed to turn themselves off if they hit a thermal cut-off point. Basically, if the machine is starting to overheat, there is an automatic system in place to prevent damage to your vacuum or other issues. The most common cause of overheating is blockage.
The vacuum has a safety feature that turns off the vacuum when the vacuum gets to a certain high temperature or overheats. This happens because the vacuum has a motor protective thermostat. If the vacuum turns off due to overheating, the thermostat has to be reset before you can use it again.
Blockages or dirty filters may cause this to happen, the safety cut off will activate and switch off the electrical supply. If the cleaner has cut out, simply unplug and check for a blockage or dirty filters.

A few things you can check to try and solve:
Turn off the vacuum cleaner – then check if the nozzle, tube, hose or filters are blocked and/or dirty. Let the product cool down for a minimum of 2 hours on the charging stand before starting it again (stick vacuum cleaners only)

Electrolux power nozzle quits working after just a few minutes of working. i’ve cleaned the head, but have to push the restart red button for it to go again for a few minutes
ANSWER : My guess is that hair, threads, and/or similar long fine fibers have gotten wrapped around the ends of the brush near where the bearings are. The PN may need to be disassembled to remove them. Be aware that if the vacuum is less than 5 years old, disassembly by anyone other than an authorized service tech will void the remaining warranty.
.My recommendation is to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and let the tech perform a free service check. He/she can let you know what the problem is and for a nominal charge, probably repair it on the spot.

Electrolux power nozzle not working
ANSWER : FIRST OFF EACH OF YOU HAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MACHINE. ESPECIALLY THE OXYGEN WHICH IS MADE BY THE “NEW”
ELECTROLUX. THE OTHER TWO ARE MADE BY THE “OLD”
ELECTROLUX WHICH IN NOW CALLED
AERUS. THE ADVICE WITH THE GUARDIAN TO GET IT SERVICED BY THE DEALER SINCE THE POWER
NOZZLE IS PROBABLY STILL UNDER
WARRANTY IS A GOOD IDEA. (THE 25 YR.
WARRANTY DOESN’T APPLY TO THE WHOLE MACHINE SO YOU HAVE TO READ CAREFULLY WHATS COVERED. THE MAIN MOTOR
DEFINITELY IS.)

.DID ANY OF YOU HIT THE RESET BUTTON ON TOP OF THE POWER HEAD?!
Our Electrolux canister vacuum just stopped working when we were vacuuming the floor. The power does come on when the power head is attached but as soon as the power head is removed the power shuts off. I tried pressing the reset button but that doesn’t help. Is there a solution that I can try at home?
ANSWER : Sound like you problem is in the connection going to the power head you will see a small screw on the power nozzel where it joins to the handle take out the screw and take it a part you will see where one of the bars have been disconnect from the power.
The motor on my Epic 6500 works, the hose is sucking, but the power head isn;t working… I tried the sidestep power head and that one works. Ive opened and replaced the belt and that is fine. The bulb was already burned out and wasn’t replaced so I cant tell if theres power to the head. What else could it be?
ANSWER : Connect the power nozzle directly to the hose and try.
.Check the terminals where the wand connects to the PN. If any are discolored or cracked, that may be the problem.
.Open the PN and check for loose or broken wires and connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
.The reset switch could be broken or worn out. You can check this with a continuity tester or multimeter.
.If none of these solve the problem the vacuum needs to be taken to your local Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and repair.

http://www.aerushome.com/storelocator/ Eureka lightforce 300 poor suction, power paw doesn’t spin and self cleaning duster doesn’t clean its self when the button is depressed.
ANSWER : When this happens to me I do two things. The first is to empty the cannister but when you do (with the vacuum unplugged) stick your hand up inside of where the cannister goes.Sometimes that is filled with debris. Pull as much as you can out. There is another part inside there that you can twist and pull out – this will help you pull out more of the trapped debris. Replace that part and the cannister – usually there’s a blockage and just removing some of that debris will cause a bunch more to dump in to the cannister. You may have to repeat this process two or 3 times untill no more debris comes out when you turn the vacuum back on.
The second tip solution is to clean the filter which can be found on the front of the vacuum. There’s a clear plastic cover, a black rectangular this that hold the filter sponge and inside of that, the filter sponge. I just rinse the little sponge inside and shake off the thing that holds the sponge (Sorry, don’t know the technical terms). Put it back together and you should have suction – viola.
Hope this helps.
REMOTE CONTROL IS MALFUNCTIONING & NOT TURNING ON CUSHION – Hello. I bought a used (by near new) Shiatsu+ Massaging Cushion from Ebay. When I installed it today the remote control was faulty. When you push the Power button, the blue light comes on, but none of the other buttons work. When you push the Power button again to turn it off, it clicks & turns itself back on again. So it’s running but nothing is happening in the massage cushion.
I did see a card in the box saying “For the Shiatsu
ANSWER : Before you use this cushion you MUST first ‘unlock’ the rollers which are held in place by a screw which MUST be removed or the unit will self destruct. The manufacturer provides a hex wrench to remove the shipping screw and a large label on the back of the device states that if the screw is not removed then the item will be damaged when you turn it on.The large tag says “For the shiatsu mechanism to function, you MUST remove and discard screw BEFORE using this cushion. Failure to do so WILL CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE PRODUCT”. The manual does not mention this screw. There is a two year warranty and a $(ten dollar) handling fee for warranty repairs. I suppose that the warranty is void if you do not remove the screw, however, it seems that only by luck would one normally find this shipping screw (and tag) that holds the rolling mechanism in place during shipping.
...
Remove the screw from the back as instructed by the manual. When you first get the massage cushion you will need to open the box and set it up. The first thing you need to do is remove the safety screw. This screw is holding the massage mechanism in place for shipping purposes. If you do not remove this screw before you turn it on you could permanently damage the cushion. After removing the screw you need to find a good chair and strap it on and plug it in. There are two straps that you need to attach. One is on the back and the other is where the back meets the seat. Once those are around the chair then you plug in the transformer to the wall and the massager. After setting up the massager all you need to do is sit on it and turn it on. You may want to start out with a rolling massage so that you can get a feel for the massager.————–.
but as you mentioned, that its a used product, then yes the screw must be already removed by the previous user.and in that case, it indicates any thing internally is got shorted, a loose wire or shorted transformer or burned circuit or weak motor. This are few possibilities , that can cause the problem. Also check batteries in remote.——— And i dont think, this problem is caused by you. This problem must be there before buying this product.Thats why, the user must have sold this on ebay.A local electrical parts repair store tech can get the internal board checked and confirm. If this board is faulty or any small loose wire or shorted wire.————–.
This should help.Thanks.Helpmech..
