How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.

There are two filters fitted to the product that will require regular cleaning. If you find that the suction power is not as good as it should be and the vacuum cleaner is not picking up very well, cleaning the filters will improve the power of your vacuum cleaner.

If this appliance also appears to have no power, there is possibly a problem with the supply at that socket. Check the socket is switched on and that there is not an isolator switch somewhere in your home which may be switched off or tripped out. If there is an isolator or fuse box, check it is also switched on.
Why does my Shark vacuum keep stopping? For Shark robotic models, odd sweeping or sudden stops can often be a result of dirty vacuum sensors. These sensors can often be found on the bottom and sides of the vacuum. Hitting them with a soft cloth should be enough to remove any excess dirt.
The most common problem with a vacuum cleaner is also the easiest to remedy: clogs in the hose or attachments. Also the electrical cord, motor, switch, fan, brushes, and motor bearings can all need repair or replacement. The drive belt may need replacing; and the attachments, hoses, and filters may need unclogging.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
The most common cause of no power is the machine overheating and cutting out. In this case once the vacuum cleaner loses power leave it for at least half an hour and then try turning it back on again. If it comes back on again after an hour then clean your filters and check for blockages.
You should check the outlet to make sure it`s working. Then, check if a fuse is blown or a circuit breaker thrown. If those both work, see if the Delay Start button or Control Lock feature has been activated. Sometimes it`s as simple as opening and closing the door to reset the washer.
First, reset your Hoover washing machine, and turn off the power at the wall socket. Then press and hold down both the Start/Pause and Super Rinse buttons for 3 seconds until you hear a beep sound. This should reset your machine to its default settings and allow you to use it again.
Usually the distressed signal happens for one of two reasons: the robot is stuck and cannot move, or something has caused the main cylinder brush to lock up.
This usually occurs if the dust cannister is too full or the filters are clogged and the motor wasn`t getting enough cooling air passing over it.
If you checked your brush roll, floor setting, and belt but your brush roll is still not spinning, that means you probably need a Shark micro switch replacement. This small switch tells the vacuums brush when to start spinning.

As a general rule, if the repair is going to cost less than half the cost of a new vacuum cleaner, it`s best to go ahead and get it repaired. When the service tops half the price of a new machine, it`s probably best to invest in a newer model.

I have a Kirby G4 Vacuum Cleaner – MOdel G4 D. I have never had any problems or repairs done to it in the past ten plus years that I’ve had it. This is an upright vacuum. I was vacuuming the carpet floor and was not having any trouble at all. I switched the vacuum off and moved it into a different room. When I tried to turn on the vacuum, it would not turn on. I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. I shut the vacuum off, pulled out the scarf and and resumed vacuuming. Much to my dismay the suction on the vacuum had ceased. Can you tell me if there is a reset button on the vacuum? ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.

I have a DC 17. In the middle of vacuuming the vacuum stopped working when it was in the upright position. It only works when the head is down and i am using the bar. I can not use the extension bar, becasue when I put the vacuum upright it shuts off. Where is the problem?

My bissell proheat upright steam cleaner is spraying out through the attachments just fine, but will not spray to the floor when using upright. we’ve taken it apart to find that there is no water at all going through one of the hoses, but it appears the hose is connected behind the on/off and heat switches, we can’t seem to figure out how to get in there to replace that hose….any suggestions on how to access this?? just curious how you would get in to replace the hose, we know it is the hose..

I have a kenmore progressive direct drive handi mate jr. upright vacuum. My daughter used it last night to vacuum up some cat litter that had spilled on the floor. I went to use it today and it turned on for a second and then stopped working. I have hit the reset button but it will not turn on. Help this vacuum is only 2 years old Is there anything that I need to reset or do so that the vacuum will work again?
ANSWER : Its probably clogged up with cat litter.might have gotten into the motor.your motor has a motor guard inside if it. when it overheats it will shut down till it cools off.you need to clean all th cat liter out of it.and clean the filters.with a direct drive you might want to take it in to a repairman to sevice. its not a shop vac i advise you not to pick up things like cat liter

I HAVE A BISSELL PROHEAT CARPET CLEANER 7920 I DISSEMBLY IT TO CLEAN IT.
