Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum\015 I believe my contractor used my Dyson Animal to vacuum plaster dust. Now the vacuum makes a noise as if it is obstructed and, looking through the plastic at the filter, it is clogged with white material and dust.\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

On Dyson canister and cordless models, the brush head is connected to a wand or tube that leads to a hose which connects to the vacuum itself. The head itself will often have clogs in the air passages immediately behind the brush roll.
The Dyson DC14 also has a lifetime HEPA filter and is certified asthma and allergy-friendly!
Checking for blockages

Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening. Make sure there`s no dirt lodged in the top part of the bin. You may need to give it a knock or two, or even use a thin blunt object to get rid of all the bits.

Simple: the bag or canister is full and the vacuum has nowhere to store the dust it is collecting. Empty the canister or bag. If that doesn`t fix it, the vacuum filter needs to be cleaned or changed.
Faulty Suction

If after cleaning the filter your vacuum is still not sucking things up, turn your vacuum around and pull the red tab at the bottom of your Dyson out. Check the external hose thoroughly running up and down the hose feeling for any nicks or lodged items.

All Dyson vacuum cleaners have two filters, a pre motor filter and a post motor filter. This filter is a post motor Hepa filter for DC07 and DC14 Dyson vacuums, it filters air which has passed through the motor.
We recommend replacing your air purifier filter every 12 months. That`s because over time, filters can get clogged with pollutants, and even let unpleasant odors back into the room.
If your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum no longer sucks up dirt, dust, and debris when using the nozzle and its attachments, there may be a clog in the vacuum`s nozzle. Unplug the vacuum and use the Dyson Ball Animal Hose Replacement Guide to remove the vacuum`s hose and check for clogs at the base of the hose.
If you find that your machine is turning off intermittently, the filter in your vacuum is most likely full and covering the ventilation system. Remove the filter, then empty and wash it. Allow the filter to dry for at least 24 hours, or until it is completely dry.

.Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Or, you can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the manufacturer’s website and or phone #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter. When the V/C was next used, there was again a burning smell and sparks. The filters were switched, but the V/C would not re-start.
What shall I do?

Hello- my motor filter is becoming clogged every time i use it. i have removed and washed it–I thought maybe i didn’t have the lid closed tight enough but for some reason dirt is pouring into the filter, it seems that some of the dirt suctioned is actually being pulled into the filter intead of the canister
ANSWER : One way or another, dirty air is by-passing the cyclone. My best guess is that when you emptied the clear bin, a seal has dropped out (or become displaced) and the base of the clear bin is no longer sealing properly against the bottom of the cyclone. Check that all the seals are undamaged and in place. Also check that the bin base closes tight after you’ve emptied it.
If this doesn’t help, please post a response and I’ll try again. If it does help, please remember to rate me!

Poor suction The actual sweeper seems to work ok, but the hose attachment has some suction but not enough to pick up things I think it should and not enough to make the power brush spin. I’ve checked everywhere I can for clogs, but I can’t see anything. And there doesn’t seem to be any way to check to hose itself for clogs. I’ve cleaned out the container and the filters, but there’s still a problem.
ANSWER : Check the inlet down by the brush roll, make sure it is open, if it is then the hose itself must have a clog. If the hose comes off, drop something like a marble in one end and see it it comes out the other end, if it doesn’t then you have a clog.

Our problem with our Rainbow E Series is that it has sucked water up and blown it out through the lower part of the hepa filter, making the filter wet and dirty. This had happened before and the repair shop did not see any problems with the machine, so we replaced the filter and were very carful not to overfill the tank and to change the water often. Now it has happened again and ruined another filter. Do you know what could be causing this issue? Can the filter be cleaned or will a new one be

1. There is no reason to waste money on an EXPENSIVE replacement. While some people may like the fact that something that may be brand new may work better, this is not always the case.
.

2. You can easily set the filter out to try as long as there is NO WET ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, if so, you will be facing electrical damage
.

3. Once you have performed a natural or sun dry on the old filter, ensure to check your unit for anything that may have caused the back clog.
.

4. Back clogs for your model are often times associated with a BUILD UP of dirt and HAIR. YOU may always use pressure air for example at a gas station to flush out the build up.
.

5. Other occasions, users accidently build the vac WRONG causing continual backup and water going where it is NOT suppose to go.

I just received my Hepa filter in the mail today. Product #XSH621 – Hepa filter for EP619 & EP621 :005-04 When bought my vacumn, I was told that the filters were free and all I do is pay Postage. Today I received one filter and it lookes like I got charged the postage for two filters. The packages slips: One stated order #11152282 The other order # 1151940 If I get charged for two I expect to receive two. Can you help me with this matter or where can I go to get resolution. ANSWER : This isn’t really a problem that can be fixed here on Fixya rather than advise you as a buyer. You’d have to contact the people/company you have purchased the filters from and take it up with them regarding the postage. Hope you get a decent reply.

No vacuum My Floormate has plenty of air moving, but no vacuum at the nozzle. When I turn it on, the filter hops up to the black rubber “intake”, rather than staying in its spot. It seems to me that the intake should be in contact with the filter when the reservoir is installed. And I don’t understand why the intake isn’t closer to it, but it seems fixed there, almost an inch higher than the filter. When I remove the bottom reservoir and turn the h3000 on, I feel vacuum at the intake, and air
ANSWER : Someone must have lost the filter cover from the machine. It is a clear blue plastic cover that goes over the filter and has a hole that lines up with the motor intake. It is approx. 3 inches square and has an angular top to coincide with the motor intake. Look around the house for it or order a new cover.

Filters have been clogged with wet cat litter and now the vac will turn on but shuts off and wont cont to vaccume. can we clean/rinse the filter out. filter light has come on and then turns off once the vac shuts down.. thanks
ANSWER : Using a vacuum cleaner for wet cat litter??? Not a good idea at the best of times! The machine’s cutting out because it’s overheating. You don’t tell us the make or model of your machine – some filters are washable, many are not. Your user manual should tell you. As a general rule, cloth- or sponge-type filters are probably washable, paper ones are not. If you do wash the filter, give it at least 24 hours in a warm place to dry thoroughly before re-using.
