Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum
How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
Locate the u-bend cover, press the yellow release button, and look for any possible blockages. These blockages may be preventing the machine from locking in its upright position as well as reclining when already locked.
Plugged vacuum hoses are sometimes the reason for a loss in suction. Hoses can get clogged with hair, dust bunnies, string, or anything else that can`t pass through the other end of the hose. Airways inside the machine should be looked at as well. Wherever there is an air passage, check it.
By letting the battery run down to empty at least once a month, you`ll help to prolong its life. If you have a spare battery, we recommend you swap them out from time to time, so that they both have time to naturally discharge.
If the vacuum is still hard to push, tilt it back far enough that you can inspect the moving brush while the vacuum is running. Be careful to avoid getting too close to the moving parts. If you see that the brush is not turning, that means you will need to replace the brush belt.
One of the most common reasons for a vacuum that`s hard to push is using the incorrect suction setting. Most people want to use the maximum suction setting all the time, when in some cases this isn`t necessary.
Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening. Make sure there`s no dirt lodged in the top part of the bin. You may need to give it a knock or two, or even use a thin blunt object to get rid of all the bits.

Your DC24 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. Once you’ve checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you should be able to reset the machine as shown in the video below.

If you’re concerned your DC24 may have a blockage, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
You may also want to wash the filters if you haven’t done so already. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them – you may find the video below useful when doing this.

this problem. Stand behind your machine, lean
over and look at the front: Right in the center of the opening between the
machine and the beater bar head, you will see a black tab. Simply slide a
thin, flat-head screwdriver down and magically the machine will
release. NOW: once it\\’s released, simply examine the area where your
screwdriver JUST slid down…see the dirt and gunk? DON\\’T follow the
MANY suggestions of adding lubricant “which only works for a short
while” (by their own admission) WIPE AWAY THE DIRT AND GUNK and voila!
YOU are now a “certified technician” and you didn\\’t have to sit through
any technical school to get there! You go girl!!!!!!!
