The Vacuum will not Stand Upright

Locate the u-bend cover, press the yellow release button, and look for any possible blockages. These blockages may be preventing the machine from locking in its upright position as well as reclining when already locked.

Press the button on the bin handle to detach the bin from your machine. Push your handle into the upright position. Push your handle firmly forward and listen for two clicks to lock in upright position. The stabiliser wheels will drop into position when the handle is locked in the upright position.

A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
You also have to swap between two different brushes depending on whether you use it on carpet or bare floor. It takes four hours to recharge—longer than most other models—and doesn`t stand up on its own. Dyson covers it with a two-year warranty.
You do have to hold the button in while using this, but the way the Dyson is engineered it isn`t a big deal at all.
You can use the switch on the Dyson High Torque cleaner head to further adjust the suction. Slide it towards the `+` for maximum suction for ground-in dirt. And towards the `-` for light dirt on deep pile carpets and delicate floor coverings, such as vinyl and lino, plus large debris on durable floor coverings.
Cylinder vacuums are typically more powerful and have a larger dust capacity, so need emptying less frequently. They also have a larger cleaning radius — the length of the cord — than upright vacuums. That`s why you`ll find the professionals use this type of vacuum cleaner in offices and hotels.

Check the Rotator Brush and Wheels

Sometimes pieces of string or other objects get wrapped around your vacuum`s rotating brush or around the wheels of the vacuum. Unplug your vacuum. Turn it over and have a look at the wheels and brush. If you see any pieces of string or objects lodged there, remove them.

First check the airflow valve located under the handle. Sliding this open may make it easier to push your vacuum. It could also be that your suction is set too high. To fix, use the suction controls on the canister to adjust the suction settings.
You Need to Change Suction Power Settings

One of the most common reasons for a vacuum that`s hard to push is using the incorrect suction setting. Most people want to use the maximum suction setting all the time, when in some cases this isn`t necessary.

It sounds simple but a dead battery is the most common cause of the vacuum powering down while in use. Charge the vacuum battery for a minimum of 2 hours. After the battery is fully charged, power on the device.
Give it a break

By letting the battery run down to empty at least once a month, you`ll help to prolong its life. If you have a spare battery, we recommend you swap them out from time to time, so that they both have time to naturally discharge.

Stick Vacuums. Compact and lightweight, stick vacuums are great for a quick cleaning, but they don`t match the deep-cleaning prowess of upright or canister vacuums.

It`s called the Dyson Gen5detect vacuum. This has the single button power option.
On the front of the handle you hold to guide the vacuum is the wand release button. This is a large release button that is found just above the power button. Push the release button in and hold while pulling up on the grip handle. The wand will slide out of the bracket that holds it in place.
It may be full, or the machine may simply perceive it as too full to continue working. Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening. Make sure there`s no dirt lodged in the top part of the bin.
Handily stores the Combination and Crevice tools on the wand of your vacuum. So they`re always there when you need them.
Upright vacuums have more capacity and can be more powerful than stick vacuums – here are our favourites of 2023. Upright vacuum cleaners might not be as sleek or enticing as cordless cleaners like the latest Dyson V11 but there are still plenty of reasons you might want to choose one.

Placing the handle of my Dyson DC07 into its upright and locked position causes the beater bar to stop turning. It will not start turning until the handle is first lowered to the working position and the Carpet/Bare knob is moved to the Bare Floor position and then back to the Carpet position. Then the beater bar turns until the handle is placed into the upright position. What might be the problem?
ANSWER : Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.

If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the “on” position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Handle wont go to upright position
ANSWER : The red pedal has slipped out of position. On both ends of the red pedal you’ll see metal rods (the axel of the pedal). On one side you’ll see the metal rod sits into a long groove, on the other side you’ll see the metal rod sits into a round hole. They both have to be in the long grooves so you have to reposition the rod that’s into the round hole by pulling it out and sliding it back into the long groove above the round hole. You’ll now be able to bring the handle up and lock the machine back into the upright position.

Dyson won’t go back into upright position to engage suction
ANSWER : The dyson.com website had a solution for this particular problem. Just press in a button in the area around the right wheel while lifting the rear of the vacuum up. This allows the base to roll forward enough to go back into the upright position. I did this and it worked. All fixed.

The mechanical off/on in the handle is not working with the electrical on/off switch upon removal of the handle you can cut the machine off by hand but after ensuring the the handle is re-placed in the proper position the machine will not turn off so what new handle or is the rocker switch has worn is now to hard for the mechanical switch to operated

You are spot on in your diagnosis however i have fixed heaps of these and i have found no way to tell wether its the switch or handle untill you try 1 or the other part. I have an Easy-Flo central vac unit. The handle on the electric hose has a switch on the handle. With the switch on ”O” in the center, it’s off. On the left, is the ”I” position. The vacuum runs but the power brush doesn’t. On the right is the ”II” position. The switch won’t flip that way. It feels stuck. It feels as if there is something underneath of it that won’t let it push that direction. I have the switch out of the handle, but I can’t seem to get the actual black casing around the
ANSWER : Switches are not usually designed to be dissembled.
I would strongly suggest that you dont take the switch apart. you are better off getting a new one. then if you feel like it you can take the old switch apart and if it dosnt work you still have a new switch. if you decide to dissemble the old switch be vary careful there are very small parts in there that will fall out. and most of the time the casing will crack when you pry it apart.

Good luck

Brush won’t spin when position of handle changes
ANSWER : The belt for this machine is very specific and only one size fits. It is not uncommon for vac shops to sell the wrong belt because the proper belt is not available from normal supply houses, so they will substitute something they think will work.
.
.Also, assuming you do have the right belt, check the tension arm that drops down on the v-belt when the handle is brought back. This arm has a wheel/bearing with a plastic “tire” or trim that rolls on the belt to tighten it. Sometimes, this tire cracks and falls off and then the remaining bearing won’t have the necessary tension to tighten up the belt.
