Air Is Stuck in Pump or Hose

If the cleaner is still not spraying despite the water and detergent tanks being full, there may be a bubble of air stuck in the pump or the hose. To fix this, you need to turn the cleaner on and lower the hose down to the floor.

A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
Turn on the vacuum. Place the nozzle on top of the water. Hold it in place until the water under and around it is depleted. Progressively move the nozzle to a new section until all of the water is gone.
Although Hoover of course recommend their own detergent, we are using a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, with a few drops of essential oil (tea tree oil) in it to improve the fragrance. This has worked well for us and is very inexpensive.
For best results the filters can be washed in warm water but check they are thoroughly dry before putting them back into place, this may take up to 24 hours. Hoover recommend that you fit new filters once per year to keep your vacuum cleaner in tip top working order.
Yes, you can clean a carpet with just water. Using water alone is an eco-friendly and cost-effective method that removes dirt and stains from carpet fibers. However, success depends on water temperature, agitation techniques, and proper drying. Consider professional help for stubborn stains or regular deep cleaning.
you need a filter with a fine filtration level. For wet pick up, the ideal filter is a foam sleeve. It is important to use the correct filter for your pickup needs. Using the wrong filter could cause the dust or water to blow back into the room.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
Here`s how to care for your carpet: It is a common belief that you should not vacuum new carpets immediately after they have been laid. This is not the case and you can, in fact, vacuum straight away. When your new carpet is fitted you may notice a few single tufts or loose ends standing above the pile.
All steam cleaners work best with distilled water. “I don`t think people realize that you can cause the steamer to stop working if you use the incorrect water,” says Kellsie Zapata, the owner of Zapata`s Cleaning Services. “The minerals in tap water will corrode the inside of your machine.”
I boil the water and pour it in carefully—boiling hot. Most home cleaners do not use the power of boiling water, but I do. I have done this for 14 years now, and without any problem.
Mix the Ingredients

In a spray bottle, mix one cup of distilled water, one cup of distilled white vinegar, and one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. Shake well to mix and label the bottle.

To get the best results, it is advisable to vacuum your carpet first before the deep cleaning. Vacuuming helps remove loose dirt particles, hair strands, and pet dander that have been tracked into the home.
Vacuum cleaners are fairly simple machines. They need power to be transmitted to the vacuum to create a suction force that lifts debris. So, the usual areas that cause suction loss include the wrong height setting, stuck rollers, a faulty gasket, a broken vacuum belt, a filled bag, or a clogged hose.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Vacuuming can release and re-introduce pollutants back into your air, while washing the filters could potentially cause mold to grow if the filters are not dried fully. The only way to keep your filters fresh is to replace them regularly.
But your vacuum is just like any other appliance in your home, it requires maintenance. If the filter isn`t clean, it can impact the performance of the vacuum. Dirty vacuum filters can restrict airflow so the suction won`t be as strong.
check the cap of the water tank to make sure it is correctly and securely attached to the water tank. check your water tank to make sure it is securely and correctly fitted in to the body of the garment steamer – incorrect placement of the water tank can block water from feeding in to the body and boiler of the steamer.
You may have used the steaming function too frequently in a short period of time. Keep ironing at a horizontal position and wait for a while before using the steam function again. Over time, lime or gunk may form on your iron`s soleplate, hindering steam. For milder cases, try wiping the soleplate with a wet rag.
Most steam cleaners are designed to be used without detergent, so stick to water only with these. Some models, on the other hand, can be used with detergent – follow the manufacturer`s instructions.
Yet, the unfortunate truth is that you should never use shampoo or soap to clean your carpet. By using shampoo on carpet, you`re doing damage to the carpet`s fiber. And shampoo leaves a residue that can cause irritation to you and your family members.
Carpets that still look dirty or have stains reappear after cleaning is a result of something called wicking. This is due to over wetting the carpet, the backing, and pad which causes them to return back to the surface once dry.
Clean your carpet with baking soda and vinegar

Simple and inexpensive, this old-fashioned trick works wonders to revive dilapidated carpet pile. First work in the baking soda with a stiff brush (rub it in deeply, working in all directions), then let it sit overnight so that it can fully absorb odours and bacteria.

Step 3: Setup Your Carpet Cleaner

After you get out your carpet cleaner, fill the clean tank to the line with hot (not boiling) tap water. Hot water does a better job cleaning than cold but, if you boil it, you run the risk of melting parts of your carpet cleaner.

The Hoover Steamvac Widepath will NOT pick up water. The dispenser with cleaner DOES have water. The TANK that would receive the dirty water is NOT full. All tanks are on properly and the machine will still not pick up the used water. I found a tear in the interior hose leading to the receiving tank and repaired throughly with electrical tape. Still will not pick up the water. Any suggestions?
ANSWER : Sounds like a clogged air path (no vacuum action) from the floor pick-up to the collection tank. Take the tanks off and deal with the vacuum problem alone. The collection tank should have a air exit vent–is it clear? Check the interior hose that you repaired–is it clogged? Remove the bottom plate and inspect the air path from it. Because this machine deals with water, clogs can become like concrete! Hope this helps!

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.
