This is from the prongs not making a good connection causing an arch inside the plugg causing what looks like rust on the plugg. I would try snugging up the connection by squeezing the female section to get a better connection on the prongs when it is plugged in together.

Was using my Miele Champagne vacuum, powered down, changed the bag, and now I have no power. I checked to make sure all lids were securely closed, still no power. Checked to make sure outlet was working, still no power…help.
Most likely the cord went bad, one side of it opened up, you will have to replace the cord reel asm. if this is the problem, Could also be a switch, electronic control or the motor.
Our Electrolux canister vacuum just stopped working when we were vacuuming the floor. The power does come on when the power head is attached but as soon as the power head is removed the power shuts off. I tried pressing the reset button but that doesn’t help. Is there a solution that I can try at home?
Sound like you problem is in the connection going to the power head you will see a small screw on the power nozzel where it joins to the handle take out the screw and take it a part you will see where one of the bars have been disconnect from the power.
Power head attachment works great when plugged into the hose part of the vacuum. The problem is when I attach it to the tube for normal use there is no power. I have checked all the connections and switched the power switch on and off still no power from tube to power head.
Is there anything else I can try? Model Callisto
Try having someone turn the machine on and off while you pull the cord in and out with the cord more angled towards the on/off switch. Sometimes these models have a break in the cord rewind and will not put the power through to the motor.
Keep in mind this is repairable, and if the unit is less than 5 years old it should still be under warranty.
Good luck .

I have my vacume electrical cord tangled inside and disconnected (I can see the open end of the connection from the power cord collector wheel! I need to take the vacume apart so get access to the wire inside. I need to know if there is something else to open other than the 4 screws. Your help is highly appreciated in advance.
Since you did not provide a model number for your vacuum, it is difficult to provide any precise directions regarding disassembly.
.However, most vacuum cleaners are fairly straightforward machines, and as long as you unplug the unit before you attempt any maintenance, then you should not have any trouble with the repair.
.Just be sure to keep track of all the screws you remove, and if different sizes are used in different parts of the vacuum, keep them separated and labelled so you can reinstall them in the correct places later.
.If the unit has a cover over the collection bag compartment, be sure to remove the cover and the bag to check for additional screws in that compartment.
.Other than that, just remove the visible screws holding the cover in place and then carefully remove the cover. If you need to reconnect the power supply wires from the cord to the vacuum, you may need to use a soldering iron, depending on how they are connected.
.Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, wish to provide the model number for your unit, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it here.
