How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Turn the unit on and press the toe-touch upper control pedal as often as necessary to lower the Power Nozzle to its lowest setting. Press the toe-touch lower control pedal one notch at a time to raise it to your preferred height. Listen for each click as it raises or lowers.
Manufacturing Date: 1984 – 1989

The Heritage II introduced our revolutionary Zippbrush.

The price of vintage Kirby vacuum cleaners can vary widely, depending on their age and condition. The least expensive ones are probably worth about $100 and high-end models might sell for $2,000 or more. But if you`re looking to buy one that hasn`t been refurbished, expect to spend several hundred dollars.
This is why the average lifespan of a Kirby is over 30 years.
Almost all upright and canister vacuums come with a variety of attachments—extra brushes, hoses, and other tools—to make it easier to clean more than just the floor. “These tools are meant to help clean different surfaces and difficult-to-reach spaces,” explains Frank Rizzi, who conducts Consumer Reports` vacuum tests.
VACUUMING. Q: What is the N/D pedal on the back of the Kirby for? A: This is your Neutral/Drive pedal. When you are vacuuming or using the carpet shampooer in the upright position, push down the Drive (D) pedal. This activates Tech Drive® power assist to make pushing your Kirby easy.
The Dyson vs. Kirby vacuum cleaners debate can be complicated, as these brands are so different. If it comes down to price or size, Dyson will probably get the upper hand — but for all other vacuuming considerations, Kirby is the way to go.
Kirby vacuum prices are higher than many vacuums found at big-box stores, but that`s because Kirby vacuums are made of durable materials that will last for years. Why replace an inexpensive vacuum over and over again when you can purchase a Kirby vacuum? This complete home cleaning system that will last for a lifetime.
The first game in the Kirby series, Kirby`s Dream Land for the original Game Boy, was released in Japan on April 27, 1992 and later in North America, Europe and Australasia in August that year.
For more than 100 years, every Kirby has been handcrafted in the United States from die-cast aluminum.
Their vacuum cleaner prices range from $995 to $2500.
The Greenland shark has the longest known life span of all vertebrates, estimated to be between 300 and 500 years. Found in the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, the species can reach an astonishing 21 feet in length and mostly eats fish, but has been spotted hunting seals.
Handheld Vacuum

Don`t have a broom closet? You can store your handheld vacuum and its accessories inside your shoe rack, in the coat closet, or on the rack where you store other cleaning equipment. You can also store it under the sink as long as the space is dry. You can even hang it on your tool rack in the garage.

Also known as the power nozzle, the power head is found at the base of most vacuum cleaners. These frequently offer brushroll height adjustment capabilities for cleaning different floor types. Different types can clean any surface, from bare floors to deep-pile carpeting.
When you use a vacuum cleaner without a HEPA filter, these particles are stirred up and put back out into the air through your vacuum`s exhaust. Regular filters can`t remove these harmful particulates and this puts the people in your home at risk.
32mm is the most common size used for vacuum cleaners, ducted vacuum cleaners and backpack vacuum cleaners. However some less common sizes are 35mm, 36mm or 38mm. The best way to find out what size will fit your vacuum cleaner is to measure the INTERNAL diameter of one of your old vacuum cleaner tools.
Vacuum cleaner tube diameter is measured internally. The most common size is 32mm internal diameter (approximately 38mm to 39mm external diameter). Other less popular vacuum cleaner hose sizes are 27mm, 35mm, 36mm, 38mm, 40mm, 51mm, and come in various colors. Ducted vacuums utilize 32mm vacuum cleaner hose.
A turbo brush has rotating brushes that make the vacuum suck dirt out of high-pile carpets better or pick up pet hair from the ground better. If you have pets, high-pile carpet, or coarse rugs, a vacuum with turbo brush is the best choice for you.
Attachments are quite easy to clean – just fill a sink or bucket with warm water and about a teaspoon of dish soap and drop them in. For any attachment that has hair stuck in it, you can use your cleaning toothbrush to brush it away.
After a year or so, you may need to replace your vacuum`s beater brush. If the bristles seem to be squished, broken or are varying heights, it`s time to replace the brush. These can be found online with the vacuum`s brand and model of your vacuum cleaner.
On average a brushroll should be replaced every year or two. If you`re not sure if the vacuum is working as good as it could or should be, replacing the brushroll can be an easy fix .
A vacuum cleaner`s brush roller also called the beater bar assists in cleaning your carpets and depending on your vacuum model, a variety of floors. The brush roller is usually located under the vacuum cleaner and some in the attachment tool.
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
Essentially, the system is comprised of four main components: the main vacuum unit, pipes and inlets, a vacuum hose, and cleaning tools. The vacuum hose and cleaning tools are what you – the consumer – will most directly interact with. They`re pretty familiar and work just as they would on any vacuum cleaner.

.Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best way to clean the HEPA filter is to take it outside and use a blower over the trash can and blow off the dust and dirt, or use things like an old paint brush and brush it off, or you can vacuum it off with another canister vacuum or shop vac if you have an extra one. For the best filtration is to replace it, there fore the air flow will catch most of the dust and dirt and then you would have to watch how fast it gets dirty and then do the maintenance.

.So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. I shut the vacuum off, pulled out the scarf and and resumed vacuuming. Much to my dismay the suction on the vacuum had ceased. Can you tell me if there is a reset button on the vacuum? The vacuum does not appear to be damage
ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.
.
.A reset button is for use if the motor isn’t running, so won’t have anything to do with the suction.

ANSWER : Hi,

If you go to this website, http://www.bissell.com/poweredge-hard-floor-vacuum/
