Hoover Elite Rewind Bagless Upright VacuumVacuum\015 I have a Hoover Mach 3 cyclonic vacuum (my understanding is that the name was later changed to Hoover Fusion). I’m having issues with the dirt not reaching the dirt cup. The dirt will stay trapped in the hoses, causing the unit to overheat. Every time I vacuum I have to clean out the hoses because the dirt gets stuck right at the entry hole for the dirt cup! Any suggestions? Thanks!\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

The most common cause of loss of suction is that the filters have become blocked. They may require cleaning or replacing. Another cause could be that the vacuum cleaner hose is blocked.
If the device is not creating sufficient suction or powering on, the motor could be obstructed. Unscrew the screws from the side of the Dirt Devil Gator. Once removed, notice the motor device (the largest one) and inspect to ensure no dirt or debris is obstructing or damaging the motor or its fans!
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.
To fix a clog in the hose, feed one end into a garbage bag, and poke the other end with the back of a mop pole, until you push the clog material out into the garbage bag. To fix a clog in the vacuum, whether it is a canister or bag, use your finger to feel for a clog. Pull as much of it out as you can and discard.
If the cleaner is still not picking up water, you may have to rinse out the various parts with water before continuing. Try to rinse out the water tank, including the foam filter, and also rinse out the nozzle as it may have clogs in it. Make sure the circular hose tool connection door on the nozzle is closed as well.
Assuming you`ve already emptied the dust bag, your next step is to clean the brush and check if it`s broken. If the brush doesn`t spin freely, it can`t pick up dirt. If it`s not broken and it`s still not spinning, the issue is with the internal belt.
Filters need to be cleaned

Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace the filter.

The brush roll or its bearings may be clogged with hair, threads or dirt. Make sure they are clean and the roll spins. The belt may also have slipped because it was loose. Check the fit of the new belt when it is installed.
Clog located in the vacuum hose

Turn the unit on and feel the suction at the end of the hose handle. If there is no or low suction, then the clog is in the hose. You can remove the clog by running a long, stiff object through the hose, such as a butter knife, starting at the wall end.

Grab the clog with a pair of needle-nose pliers and pull it out. Open a pair of needle-nose pliers and feed it into the end of the lower hose. Once you feel the clog, pinch the blockage with your pliers to get a good grip on it. Pull the clog out of the hose and throw it away.
Water Can Ruin Your Vacuum Motor

If water invades the motor, you may have a completely failed vacuum cleaner. Again, not only will the water be inside your motor, but it will be carrying dirt and grime with it, making it unlikely (or at least very difficult) to restore the motor to a safe condition.

For best results the filters can be washed in warm water but check they are thoroughly dry before putting them back into place, this may take up to 24 hours. Hoover recommend that you fit new filters once per year to keep your vacuum cleaner in tip top working order.
If your robot still does not empty its bin, please unplug the Clean Base™ for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
If your Xiaomi vacuum is not working as expected, a reset may rectify this. To perform a reset on your vacuum, please make sure the unit is in the charging dock. Following this, hold the plug button, and press the WiFi-reset button whilst continuing holding the plug button until reset notification is played.
Roomba® uses Dirt Detect™ Technology, which allows it to focus its cleaning effort in dirtier areas. When your robot finds more dirt than usual concentrated in one (1) area, it will activate Dirt Detect™ and work harder to clean the same area until the sensors detect fewer particles in that particular area.
The first place to look when your Dyson stops picking up dirt is the roller. If the engine is still working properly and suction seems to be fine, then the roller is possibly the culprit. Unplug and Turn Upside Down: Make sure you completely unplug your cleaner before you start work, and then turn it upside down.
There may be blockages in the wand or main body creating a weak suction. Detach the main body and the cleaner head from the wand to separately examine them for any obstructions. Looking through both ends of the wand, check for any light coming through and if none is present, a blockage may need to be removed.
If the Shark ION Robot R75 vacuum`s side brushes are clear of debris and the vacuum is still not cleaning up debris, check the main brush for clogged debris, as well. If you find a build-up of hair or debris in the main brush, remove the end cap of the main brush and clear it of any hair or debris.
Check the motorized floor nozzle to ensure nothing is blocking the rollers, hose, or any debris in the wheels. You can do this by removing the floor nozzle if you haven`t already, pressing the quick release foot pedal, and looking underneath for any obstructions.
Check the power unit reset button located above the power cord. Pressing the button should restore operation. NOTE: The reset button is located on the upper left-hand side of the unit where the low voltage wires connect to the unit.
The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
If the roller brush is not spinning, it cannot pick up dust. One reason could be that the power button is not set to position II, which runs the roller brush. If the button does not work, here is the link to the power button replacement guide. Another reason is that the roller brush could be broken.
Most pleated filters have a replacement schedule and are considered disposable by manufacturers. Paper filters should never be soaked or rinsed in water. However, some filters are made from a non-woven synthetic material (similar to a dryer sheet) that can be rinsed with water a few times to remove dust.

Hoover Mach 3 (Fusion): Dirt Will not enter dirt cup
ANSWER : There is a filter in the top over where the dirt canister clips in, and one under the dirt cannister by the motor. Sometimes removing and cleaning will help if you have not tried it already.

Our Bissell Cleanview II 3576M does a great job except that the filter cup below the dirt cup gets full very fast and the dirt cup barely has anything in it. To clean the whole house, I have to empty the dirt cup and clean the filter several times. It didn’t use to work this way. It seems like something is missing, a gasket or seal maybe? I don’t think dirt, hair and debris should be going straight to the lower cup and bypassing the upper. I looked at the user guide but can’t see why it’s happen

Hoover Windtunnel My Hoover Windtunnel is 3 years old. It worked great until yesterday when it lost all suction. I have followed the manual to trouble shoot any possible clogs and could find none. Then I noticed that when I remove the dirt collection cup and held my hand over the vent the suction is fine and strong. So… I replaced the hepa filter thinking that might be the problem. That didnt’ work. The motor runs fine. The suction without the dirt cup inserted is strong. As soon as you insert
ANSWER : Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.

ANSWER : Either the hose has a clog, or the inlet down by the belt is clogged. Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then it is clogged. If there is suction, then it has to be clogged down below by the brush roll, check that inlet. There also is a filter at the bottom where the dirt cup (and bag) is, check it also.

Bissell bagless sweeper sucks up dirt but will not put dirt in the canister cup. It will pickup until it clogs, then it will stop picking up dirt. It will really hold quite a bit of dirt before it stops completely up. Thanks for any help.
ANSWER : I had the same problem, called Bissell over 10 times! They send me 3 plastic inserts for the dirt chamber, not the problem. I solved it by throwing the Bissell away and buying a Eureka bagged vacuum, no more problems.
