Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum\015 The Self-Propelled WindTunnel will not self propel. I am quite sure it has to do with the end of the cable line found just under the light. I do I re-attach that cable line to make the handle work and to make the the vacuum cleaner self-propel? Belts are fine and all has been cleaned. Any suggestions on how to attach the cable properly?\015

Check the Rotator Brush and Wheels

Sometimes pieces of string or other objects get wrapped around your vacuum`s rotating brush or around the wheels of the vacuum. Unplug your vacuum. Turn it over and have a look at the wheels and brush. If you see any pieces of string or objects lodged there, remove them.

Check that the brush bar is clean and not damaged

If the cleaner becomes noisy or starts vibrating, it may be because some debris has got tangled around the brush roll or agitator situated in the bottom of the cleaner.

Floor cleaning options – The Hoover Windtunnel offers five different floor cleaning options. Each of these options are designed to be used on a variety of surfaces. Some of these surfaces include hardwood floor, low pile carpet, and high pile carpet.
Loose connections will cause your vacuum cleaner to lose suction. Make sure that the dust container, the hose, the tube and the brush are all attached properly. If the problem continues, your vacuum cleaner might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
Self-propelled vacuums are powered by an electric motor that drives the brush roll. These machines are very useful for people with limited mobility as they can easily maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. The most common problem with a vacuum cleaner is also the easiest to remedy: clogs in the hose or attachments. Also the electrical cord, motor, switch, fan, brushes, and motor bearings can all need repair or replacement. The drive belt may need replacing; and the attachments, hoses, and filters may need unclogging.
Twist the lid until the arrows line up and open up the container to get to the hepa filter. Take the filter out and brush the dirt out, once a month wash the filter in warm water. Please make sure it is thoroughly dry before popping it back in – this may take around 24 hours.
MAINTENANCE: both the Hoover and the Dyson are bagless, equipped with a dirt cup/dust bin. After your vacuuming chore, simply detach the dirt cup/dust bin and press a button to release all the accumulated dirt.

Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel U6436-900 cable problem
ANSWER : The flat belt should be changed if it has been longer than 9-12 months. Next I would remove the upper handle to inspect the top section of the control cable, sometimes it fray’s and has a sponge feel (no positive control) to self propel. To set this adjustment, it is best to do withthe hood off of the lower section. I would also look at the cable jacket in the foot to make sure it is under the metal clamp. It must be under the clamp to work properly. To get it under the clamp loosen one hold down screw at the top and one in the back of the vacuum, remove clamp screws and put jacket into position and then secure all screws. Now set the adjustment, Install upper handle and set self propel to off. loosen cable from arm in foot with torx screw. manually move arm until the clutch is off both drive pads. This is a visual adjustment. then secure and reassemble vacuum.

Hoover Windtunnel My Hoover Windtunnel is 3 years old. It worked great until yesterday when it lost all suction. I have followed the manual to trouble shoot any possible clogs and could find none. Then I noticed that when I remove the dirt collection cup and held my hand over the vent the suction is fine and strong. So… I replaced the hepa filter thinking that might be the problem. That didnt’ work. The motor runs fine. The suction without the dirt cup inserted is strong. As soon as you insert
ANSWER : Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.

Electrical problem I have an electrical problem with the above cleaner. My wife recently extended the power cable by yanking it out of the reeling mechanism too violently. The cleaner stopped there and then. I suspect that the cable has become disconnected inside the cleaner and I would be grateful for information as to how I can mend this problem. Nigel
ANSWER : May have broken the cord, in which case you will probably have to repace the reel cord asm. But you will have to take it apart to find out. Take off the bumper that gores around the cannister, there are 3 or 4 clips that hold the two halfs together.

ANSWER : Either the hose has a clog, or the inlet down by the belt is clogged. Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then it is clogged. If there is suction, then it has to be clogged down below by the brush roll, check that inlet. There also is a filter at the bottom where the dirt cup (and bag) is, check it also.

On several occasions the belt has come off the Hoover Windtunnel beater shaft and had to be re-installed. Is there any way to prevent it from slipping off?
The shaft seems to be made so that the middle if it is wider(thicker than either the end or the part closer to the motor, which, to me, is a bad design so I don’t know how to overcome this problem.
I’d be very grateful for a permanent solution to this problem.
Thanks in Advance, mas
