The level you set your vacuum depends on the height of your carpet. For bare floors, use the lowest or bare floor setting, for short and medium pile carpets use a medium setting and finally, for plush carpets use the highest setting.
A: Yes, you can just rinse your carpet with plain water when using the Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner. Helpful?
Hoover is another brand that does a great (and safe) job of cleaning both your tile and carpet. Just keep in mind that this is not your typical tile cleaner. It has brushes that will not scratch your tile. The water and cleaning solution located under the cleaner is tough enough to get any stain out of your tile floor.
Add 3 ounces per gallon to warm water in the clean water tank. For AutoMix machines, fill solution tank. Always consult owner`s manual.
For carpet cleaning machines without a separate solution tank, mix a 1:10 ratio of Simple Green to water. Apply solution onto the carpet in sections, using the carpet cleaning machine according to manufacturer`s instructions.
Vacuum Clean Loose Dirt from the Sofa Surface

By using the right accessory (nozzle), your vacuum cleaner can also double up as your sofa cleaning machine.

One most certainly can use a carpet cleaner to clean a couch. Carpet cleaners usually come with an upholstery attachment that is gentle enough to clean the sofa and get into all the nicks and folds. The same cleaning solution can be used; the only determining factor is the sofa`s material.
Yes, if you want to use a carpet cleaner to its full potential, complete multiple passes and water changes until the water comes out clear.
Hot water loosens and softens dirt more quickly, making it easier to remove, and it also helps to kill bacteria. That`s why we recommend filling up your carpet cleaner`s tank with warm water. Some BISSELL Carpet Cleaners also use HeatWave technology to keep the water hot throughout the cleaning process.
Put simply, the answer to this question is “yes”. In fact, carpet cleaner might be the best at-home cleaning option that you have to clean your mattress.
I boil the water and pour it in carefully—boiling hot. Most home cleaners do not use the power of boiling water, but I do. I have done this for 14 years now, and without any problem.
You can use most carpet shampoos in any type of carpet cleaning machine. However, some solutions may have specific requirements, such as an upright or water-based machine.
A steam cleaner uses hot water vapor and a cleaning solution to displace and extract dirt, dust, and tough stains on your carpet. A vacuum uses an electric motor to suck dirt, dust, and hair from your carpet and hard-surface floors.
A steam cleaner uses actual steam to clean various types of surfaces, and this steam can damage carpet fibers and remove the protection. A carpet cleaner is designed to force a mixture of hot water and cleaning solution into the carpet to clean deep down.
Some carpet steam cleaners use a combination of water and steam. These will be two tank machines, which collect water too. These are often better at stain removal than models which purely use steam. A carpet cleaner, on the other hand, uses water and carpet shampoo to remove a stain or general dirt.
While extreme suction power may offer peace of mind to homeowners who want to feel confident that their vacuums are effective at sucking up dirt and germs, it can be very damaging to your carpet and should be avoided! For high pile and premium soft carpet, be sure to avoid vacuums with concentrated or sealed suction.
For most models, the lowest setting is optimal for bare floors or thin carpeting. The middle setting offers the best suction for slightly fuller carpets. The highest setting is best for plush carpets or area rugs.
Yet, the unfortunate truth is that you should never use shampoo or soap to clean your carpet. By using shampoo on carpet, you`re doing damage to the carpet`s fiber. And shampoo leaves a residue that can cause irritation to you and your family members.
How Often Should You Shampoo Your Carpet? You should clean your carpet at least every 12 months to remove dirt, grime, and allergens. However, this schedule can vary depending on several factors in your household. If you have children or pets, you might shampoo your carpets more regularly.

Can Smartwash™ be used on hard floor surfaces? We designed the HOOVER® SmartWash™ specifically for deep carpet cleaning. We do not recommend using SmartWash™ on bare floor surfaces.
The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner does not heat the water itself. Please fill the clean water tank with hot tap water. The use of hot water as opposed to cold, significantly improves cleaning performance.

My carpet cleaner (bissell proheat plus) is not steaming, dispensing cleaner. Seems like there’s a little thingy that should be spinning or turning….. When I work a small area of carpet, it just leaves behind dry blobs of carpet gunk like pet hair. I had to use a carpet sweeper to clean up. FYI – I filled the cleaning fluid container and after trying to clean the carpet, it did empty out but the carpet isn’t wet. Any tips? The manual doesn’t help.
ANSWER : You need to replace the pump belt. Here is the belt you need:

We have a Bissell Proheat Cleanshot 2X Model 9500 Steam carpet cleaner. The first time we used it things were great. The second time we used it it left tracks in the carpet. We have no idea what caused this. We tried using the machine on an entirely different carpet and it did the same thing. After vacuuming the carpet about 10 or 12 times, the tracks are still embedded in the carpet – HELP!!!! We’re read and reread the manual and contacted customer service and received no help.
ANSWER : First things first. It’s only the second time you have used the machine, so it must be fairly new. If you have a receipt and the unit is less than a year old you should take it to an authorized Bissell repair center and have the machine inspected under warranty.
.
.Otherwise, The jets on this unit clog easily, there are two of them and you can locate them under the recovery tank towards the front of the machine, and blow them out with an air compressor. To prevent the jets from clogging in the future make sure to flush all shampoo out of the machine with clean water when done using it. That is most likely your problem.
.
.If it is leaving black streaks on your carpet it could be coming from a burnt belt or melted brushroller part, in which case inspect the belts and brushrollers and replace the damaged pieces.
.
.I hope this helped

.Good Luck

I have a Bissell Pro 2x carpet cleaner. The water heats properly as well as spraying the cleaning product. However, when I go to suction the water from the carpets, the 2 in 1 water tank bladder works properly but there is no dirty water outside the bladder. I have only used this carpet cleaner ~ 5 times and in the beginning I had to empty the suctioned water quite frequently as it was dirty and it could not not hold any more water. So I have done 1 room and all the dirt remains in the carpet
ANSWER : Check that the suction cone is not blocked. Check that the filter or hose to the bladder isn’t blocked as well.

Hoover vacuum carpet cleaner will not sucktion (sic)
ANSWER : No, this cleaner uses no belts.
.If you are having a suction problem, first check that the lid on the recovery tank is lined up to the tank when installed to get a good seal.
.Second, remove the tank and make sure the round black rubber seal is present on the pipe from the base that aligns with the bottom of the recovery tank. That seal connects the vacuum from the motor to the recovery tank.

Hoover carpet cleaner not picking up water – Hoover SteamVac Carpet/Upholstery Deep Cleaner Vacuum
ANSWER : Assure the ring gasket is in place under the hood. A round rubber gasket must be in place on the round tube under the hood where the recovery tank sits to connect the vacuum from the motor to the round tube on the bottom of the tank.
.
.In addition, make sure the recovery tank lid is properly aligned to the tank to seal.
.
.Lastly, make sure the square duct is latched in place in front of the recovery tank, that links the nozzle plate to the tank lid.

Carpet stained recently cleaned my cream coloured carpet in my entrance hall with a carpet cleaning product, wet foamy spray type, ran out of this and found a part bottle of a different brand in my cupboard, used this to finish off however must be some sort of reaction and carpet gone a greenish colour i think (colour blind sorry ) any idea’s of any product that might restore my carpet, will try anything, nothing to loose. thank you Peter McGurk Goole East Yorks
ANSWER : Ok in the future try to have carpet cleaned only by a pro. For spot cleaning use white paper towels or dish towels and warm water. (ONLY WHITE) 99% of fabric is white and then dyed to color and if you use a color cloth you might pull the dye from the cloth into the carpet. Now what you can try is your basic dishwashing detergent like electrosal with warm water and a dishtowel. little at a time try to blot not rub. try AFTA if that doesnt work. wet the rag first with warm water. pour the afta on the wet rag not on the carpet.
