How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
If you notice that your Hoover shampooer or carpet cleaner doesn`t spray water or the brush roll doesn`t spin, then typically you need to replace your turbine assembly. This is another very common repair need for these shampooers because the turbine is air-driven.
Your Vax carpet cleaner may not be picking up water because the machine has picked up too much grime, and has become blocked up. Check around the head of the carpet cleaner for anything obvious that might make the suction on the Vax weaker, or look for clumps of hair that could be caught in the bristles.
First, check to make sure the clean tank has water and/or the water & formula mixture in the tank. If your tank is empty, this could be the reason your machine is not spraying. You will need to fill your clean tank again. Reseat the tank and ensure it sits snug on the machine.
Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn`t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again.
Heat helps to loosen and lift stains from fabric without causing damage to the material. It also accelerates drying time so that moisture doesn`t settle in and cause mold or mildew growth. Cleaner. Steam cleaners can also use a cleaning agent or detergent to accelerate the removal of stains.
Upholstery Tool: The upholstery tool has a small, flat head and powerful suction, this attachment works well on fabric surfaces such as mattresses, couches, chairs and other fabric based pieces.
Check to see if your clean water tank is empty. The clean water tank also may not be seated properly. The brush window could also not be latched into place. Turn off your machine and check to see if the brush window is secure.
Should the brush not rotate freely there may be debris tangled around the ends of the brush, carefully remove any obstructions or replace the brush with a new one. We recommend that you fit a new belt and brush once per year to keep your Reactive vacuum working efficiently.

Can’t find info for hoover steam vac spin scrub model # F5905900 on Hoover website, doesn’t show that model number at all…looking for mesh (kind of cone/cylinder shape) that goes in dirty water tank (I think) and also the tool (wand) that slides into front to clean it out. It doesn’t pull all the water up very well and the filter has been missing for some time. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. As far as the wand tool goes, I have taken the cover off at this point and

Have a Bissell Proheat2 will not spray water from the carpet power head but sprays from tools setting Does anyone know how to get water to spray or clean out water
ANSWER : I had this problem. It was small pieces of debris that got into the solution lines and clogged all the nozzles. There is a nozzle for the handheld attachments, one on the front of the machine for spraying spots and two nozzles underneath just behind the rotating brushes.
.
.It was a royal pain disconnecting the clear rubber hoses inside the machine and blowing out the nozzles and the hoses with compressed air. If you are mechanically challenged I’d suggest you take the machine to a vacuum/steam cleaner repair facility.
.
.I’m not sure how the debris got into the solution system, but it may have been when the dirty water tank was emptied some of the dirty water entered the internal, clean water bladder.
.
.A note to Bissell engineers: This issue can be prevented if you simply add an easily accessable solution and/or water filter that the customers can remove, clean and reinstall. Just a suggestion.

The hoover steam vac 5 brush agitator dispenses water and soap but does not show any return water to dirty water reservoir. The carpet seems damp but not soaked, still a bit troubling no waste water…what up ?
ANSWER : You do not have the needed vacuum on the dirty water intake. Possible causes are:
.1. No adapter sleeve in the back of the dirty water tank (the one that you remove to put the fabric hose adapter in)
.2. The dirty water top is not sealed (cracked, not on correctly)
.3. The intake shoot at the front of the unit is clogged with dirt/hair.
.
.REMEMBER: This is NOT a vacuum cleaner – it is not designed to remove hair and dust…. ONLY wet dirt. If you fail to vacuum floors just before steam cleaning, the unit will clog up in minutes!!

I have a bissell quickwash 1950-e. I bought it Jan. 2006, and have only used it 8-10 times, I live in a very hard water area, so I though if I put some vinegar in with the cleaning solution it would get rid of any hard water deposits, unfortunatly the solution went lumpy in the tank and stoped spraying out water, I have opened it, hose clean, sprayer not blocked, x at bottom of water container when depresed water trickles out, component that opens the x when water container placed, also ran wate
ANSWER : Hard to say what is causing your problem, replacing the cap and insert on the water tank may help, part #2041111, even tho it may trickle out water when depressed, they can still be bad. The other thing would be the rod not relesing the water like it should. The big draw back to this model is Bissell has obsoleted all of its parts and most are no longer available. Might be wiser to buy new.
