Typically the burning rubber smell is caused by friction from the rubber on a wooden brush, or the hair and fur is caught and is starting to burn. To prevent this, the unit should be cleaned at least every few months to remove hair and fur buildup.

How can you take the top of a rainbow D-4 series to repalce the plug for the power head? I can’t find any screws to take out
This is a time consuming jod. You will need to carefully peel back thew rubber gasket around the separator . Underneath you will find several hidden screws.Loosen them off. With the separator removed you will be able to loosen the upper body and motor and work your way to the powerhead receptacle.
Power head attachment works great when plugged into the hose part of the vacuum. The problem is when I attach it to the tube for normal use there is no power. I have checked all the connections and switched the power switch on and off still no power from tube to power head.
Is there anything else I can try? Model Callisto
Try having someone turn the machine on and off while you pull the cord in and out with the cord more angled towards the on/off switch. Sometimes these models have a break in the cord rewind and will not put the power through to the motor.
Keep in mind this is repairable, and if the unit is less than 5 years old it should still be under warranty.
Good luck .
The power brush floor rug attachment on my Eureka 6997 A Oxygen Canister Vacuum goes on an off as I use it. I replaced the The power cord from the handle has 2 plug in connections:
1 at the handle / upper wand
1 at the lower wand top of the power brush attachment
I replaced the entire wand assembly and it worked great for a year or so and now it’s doing the same thing again. I was told to keep the power switch on the handle set to off when connecting the power brush attachment or it will bu
This is from the prongs not making a good connection causing an arch inside the plugg causing what looks like rust on the plugg. I would try snugging up the connection by squeezing the female section to get a better connection on the prongs when it is plugged in together.
Power head has power but motor won’t run
ANSWER : Circuit brealer switch
may be bad, but the fact that Rainbow nozzle made this strange sound makes me think that it may have happened because there is something wrong with the motor.
.While unplugged – remove the brush and belt. Try turning brush ends – see if they yurn easily… Try turning the motor shaft – see if it turns and if it does – if it turns smoothly and if makes any strange sounds…
.To really test the motor you can just bypass the circuit breaker switch.
E series How did you take your rainbow e series apart? Do you have a manual? I’ve got a few pieces off mine but can’t see where any other screws are to completly take apart to be able to look at motor. Thanks Kelly
The clear lenses on either side of the top part of the E-series Rainbow are removable. If you look at the each lens you will see two sections on the top edge of each lens that looks like this |___| |___| about 1 1/2 inches in from each end. Put a small screwdriver in the middle of each one of these (I used 2 screwdrivers at once) and pry out. The clips will come undone and you can remove the lens this way, exposing the screws which hold the motor cover on. On my E-2, there were 4 screws under here, and once I removed them, the top came right off.

Power head and wand connection is intermittent.
If there is a rubber bumper on your power head you must slip it off before the two halves will separate.
The motor on my Epic 6500 works, the hose is sucking, but the power head isn;t working… I tried the sidestep power head and that one works. Ive opened and replaced the belt and that is fine. The bulb was already burned out and wasn’t replaced so I cant tell if theres power to the head. What else could it be?
Connect the power nozzle directly to the hose and try.
.Check the terminals where the wand connects to the PN. If any are discolored or cracked, that may be the problem.
.Open the PN and check for loose or broken wires and connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
.The reset switch could be broken or worn out. You can check this with a continuity tester or multimeter.
.If none of these solve the problem the vacuum needs to be taken to your local Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and repair.
