How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

You can clean it by tapping it over a bin or brushing it. B) The foam part can be washed with water. It needs to be fully dry before you can place it back in the vacuum.
Use your vacuum cleaner`s hose with a nozzle or brush attachment to clean your non-washable HEPA filter. Run the attachment over the filter until you`ve removed all debris. Take care not to puncture the filter with the vacuum attachment.
Your Philips Air Purifier`s pre-filter (C in the image shown above) is washable and should be cleaned every month to ensure its optimal functioning. You should clean the pre-filter when F0 is displayed on your air purifier`s display.
The best way to refresh a self-cleaning filter is to give your dishwasher a thorough cleaning with distilled white vinegar and baking soda at least once a month or use a commercial dishwasher cleaner. Manual-clean filters should be cleaned at least once a month.
If the filter isn`t clean, it can impact the performance of the vacuum. Dirty vacuum filters can restrict airflow so the suction won`t be as strong.
Any fine dust remaining in the filter can usually be removed with a gentle rinse under a cold tap – hold the filter under the running water until the water runs clear. You shouldn`t need to use any detergent – just water.
We recommend you use the self-clean function once every two weeks. If the water in your area is very hard, the self-clean function should be used more frequently. To use the self function, follow these steps: Ensure your iron is switched off and unplugged from the mains supply socket.
1) Fill the water tank halfway with warm water and shake it carefully. 2) Empty it and rinse well with fresh water (do not use detergent). Note: Algae can form when water remains in your iron`s tank for a long time. Emptying your Philips Steam Iron`s water tank regularly will prevent the formation of algae or residue.
If you have a steam iron, another way to clean out the iron steam vents is to fill the water reservoir with a mixture of half distilled white vinegar and half water. Then grab an old cloth or towel, and iron and steam it. As you steam, residue will come out of the vents along with the vinegar.
They recommend that you clean the filters every three months, but that number increases if you vacuum frequently. You will know it`s time to clean your vacuum`s filters when it`s not working effectively. For example, you may need to vacuum the same area multiple times for crumbs and debris to be picked up.
You can try to clean them and reuse them, even if the brand says to discard them after use, but be aware that they won`t be operating with the same thoroughness afterwards.
When to clean the filters. The filters (A and B in the image above) are not washable nor vacuum cleanable. These filters need to be replaced.
You can clean or wash the pre-filter (indicated as C in the image below). The other filters (indicated as A and B in the image below) cannot be washed: they need to be replaced.
Strip Your Self-Cleaning Oven

Racks can easily be cleaned in a sink or tub using a soft sponge and a little DIY cleaner. I often leave my racks to soak in the sink as the oven cleans, then when the self-cleaning cycle is over, my racks are ready to be scrubbed.

A self-cleaning strainer (or self-cleaning filter) is a type of water filter which utilizes system pressure to clean itself.
If you don`t vacuum your carpet, the dirt will break down carpet fibers and create a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria. In addition, your home will begin to smell musty from the dirt, mites, and other organisms settling into the fibers.
Rather than waiting for the canister to fill up all the way, the Vacuum Experts suggest you empty it after every use. If that`s not feasible, “empty the vacuum once it reaches half to two-thirds of the way full as a matter of habit,” the Vacuum Experts blog post recommends.
Can I soak my filter in vinegar? If you are cleaning a foam filter, you can add a few drops of vinegar to the water you are cleaning it with. However, if you are cleaning a cartridge or HEPA vacuum filter, do not use vinegar.
Do not use vacuum filtration to filter a solid from a liquid if it is the liquid that you want, and if the liquid is low boiling. Any solvent which boils at about 125 degrees or lower will boil off under the reduced pressure in the vacuum flask. To perform a vacuum filtration, clamp the flask securely to a ring stand.
The Smart Clean works on the basis of an automatic cleaning program. It degreases and cleans the heads of your shaving device, thoroughly. For better and cleaner shaving! See all benefits. For a thorough cleaning of your shaving device.
If you use the Cleaning system weekly, then the cleaning fluid in a cartridge should be enough for three months. If you are a more regular user, then the cartridge will need to be replaced much earlier, possibly within a month. The Philips Cleaning cartridge comes with a special cleaning fluid designed for this device.
Deep Cleaning Tips

Use a dry toothbrush or specialty kitchen brush to clean debris around knobs on the mixer head. Once the dirt has been brushed away, use a damp cloth to wipe around the knobs. Tip the mixer head backward and clean the underside with a damp cloth.

A Regular Deep Clean Is Necessary

Wipe down the mixer after every use, but every once in a while, do a deep clean. This involves unscrewing the parts to clean out leftover dough from all the nooks and crannies. Follow the manufacturer`s recommendations on the best deep-cleaning processes — refer to the mixer manual.

SELF-CLEANING. Steam-cleaning ovens use high temperatures and steam to loosen and dissolve remnants of food particles and grease before wiping down with a cloth. They generally don`t require much energy, so they are great if you need to do a quick cleanup after cooking.

Eureka lightforce 300 poor suction, power paw doesn’t spin and self cleaning duster doesn’t clean its self when the button is depressed.
ANSWER : When this happens to me I do two things. The first is to empty the cannister but when you do (with the vacuum unplugged) stick your hand up inside of where the cannister goes.Sometimes that is filled with debris. Pull as much as you can out. There is another part inside there that you can twist and pull out – this will help you pull out more of the trapped debris. Replace that part and the cannister – usually there’s a blockage and just removing some of that debris will cause a bunch more to dump in to the cannister. You may have to repeat this process two or 3 times untill no more debris comes out when you turn the vacuum back on.

The second tip solution is to clean the filter which can be found on the front of the vacuum. There’s a clear plastic cover, a black rectangular this that hold the filter sponge and inside of that, the filter sponge. I just rinse the little sponge inside and shake off the thing that holds the sponge (Sorry, don’t know the technical terms). Put it back together and you should have suction – viola.

Hope this helps.

Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!
ANSWER : Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins — just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that “remove and clean brushes” message.

ANSWER : The power head requires 120 Volts. Some hoses have a receptacle in the handle for the power head plug, and the hose has a cord at the wall inlet end that plugs into a receptacle. Some hoses have a plug at the wall inlet end that plugs into a 120Volt receptacle built into the inlet. The hose plugs into this receptacle when you push the hose into the inlet. The power for this built-in receptacle is wired with line voltage when the system is installed.
