How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :
To remove the wheel that doesn`t have lug nuts and bolts, you will need to remove the cotter pin that holds the wheel in place. Bend the two prongs up to straight and then push that end through the spindle. That wheel and tire should be replaced so you can have matching hubs with the same bolt pattern moving forward.
Abrasive products are designed to remove base material, whereas wire brushes are not.
In this case, you need to use spacers. There are many wheel spacers with varying thicknesses which allow you to change the offset of your wheels quickly and easily. Wheel spacers essentially increase the distance from the centre of the wheel to the hub, thus reducing positive offset.

I purchased a utilitech 7-day digital in-wall timer #0141224. My house wires are two black wires and a green ground wire. The new timer has a w,g, r, and b, wires. My question is what wires do I connect. I found the black power wire from the house. I have no white wire in the switch box. Where would the red wire go? Thank you
ANSWER : Hi!!.
..
.- The Green wire goes to ground,
.
- The White wire is the neutral. (in this case is used to supply power to the clock.)
.
- The Black wire will have to be connected to the incoming black hot wire and,
.
- The Red wire will go to the black wire going to the light.
.In order for the timer to work, you’ll need to run a Neutral wire from a nearby outlet into the switch box to power the timer..
.Good Luck!! A HELPFUL – 4 THUMBS – rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

ANSWER : The black and blue wire should conncect to the black wire in the electric box and the white wire should connect to the white wire in the box. This assumes the wiring was correctly installed.

Am attempting to get ‘inside’ the vacuum to troubleshoot why it suddenly stopped running. Suspect it may electrical, and have already checked the obvious (visible cord and plug.) However, there doesn’t seem to be an obvious way to get inside the canister without destroying something. Thanks!
ANSWER : Hi There,
.
.Here’s a link to a repair solution that I’ve done explaining how to diagnosis the cord reel, and open up the machine. The model this is done on is not the same exact model as yours, but the repair will be almost identical. Usually when this happens all of a sudden, chance are good that you need to replace your cord reel. Due to a request by the manufacturer we are no longer allowed to sell the cord reel online, however if you need to obtain one, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to provide one for you. Hope this was helpful! If it was, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave some feedback for me.

Oreck XL How to remove rear wheel. Removed all viewable hair, thread, etc., but one wheel is still hard to turn. I think there’s hair stuck inside the wheel core. Can I remove the wheel & take it off the metal post?
ANSWER : You can take a medium size flathead screwdriver and slide it in beside the wheel and under the pin. Then pry carefully on one side and then the other it will start to come out but work both sides alternately so you won’t put too much pressure on the plastic. Once it is out you can clean it and put it back in. Line up the pin and use a blunt end tool like a punch to tap it back in. You can use the same screwdriver but don’t hit it too hard. You can tell when it is in all the way when it bottoms out. Make sure you look closely at it before you take it out so you will know what it is suppose to look like.
I own a Eureka Optima 437 and one of the rear wheels are broken and cannot find parts for this. Where can I find parts for real wheel?
I have a rear wheel that came off too. The wheel seems fine, but the plastic base that the wheel clicks onto on the underside of the vac seems to have cracked. I need a new plastic bottom. Any ideas?
ANSWER : Called Eureka Customer Service and ordered another part. They are mailing it to me free of charge!
No more problem.
I have my vacume electrical cord tangled inside and disconnected (I can see the open end of the connection from the power cord collector wheel! I need to take the vacume apart so get access to the wire inside. I need to know if there is something else to open other than the 4 screws. Your help is highly appreciated in advance.
ANSWER : Since you did not provide a model number for your vacuum, it is difficult to provide any precise directions regarding disassembly.
.
.However, most vacuum cleaners are fairly straightforward machines, and as long as you unplug the unit before you attempt any maintenance, then you should not have any trouble with the repair.
.
.Just be sure to keep track of all the screws you remove, and if different sizes are used in different parts of the vacuum, keep them separated and labelled so you can reinstall them in the correct places later.
.
.If the unit has a cover over the collection bag compartment, be sure to remove the cover and the bag to check for additional screws in that compartment.
.
.Other than that, just remove the visible screws holding the cover in place and then carefully remove the cover. If you need to reconnect the power supply wires from the cord to the vacuum, you may need to use a soldering iron, depending on how they are connected.
