Simple air drying in sunlight should be all your filter needs. Using a tumble dryer or other heat source is typically not recommended. It`s important that your vacuum`s filters are COMPLETELY dry when they go back in the vacuum. Even a small amount of water running through an electric motor can be a Very Bad Thing.

But a shop vac has two holes. One hole near the top permits replacement air to enter the container. When a hose is attached to this hole, dirt and debris can be sucked into the container. Air circulates out another hole to equalize the constant airflow in the shop vac and keep the motor cooled as it`s being used.
you need a filter with a fine filtration level. For wet pick up, the ideal filter is a foam sleeve. It is important to use the correct filter for your pickup needs. Using the wrong filter could cause the dust or water to blow back into the room.
If you own a bagless vacuum, do not put a wet filter back in the machine. This will hurt the motor, but even worse, it can cause mold to grow. A warm, damp, dirty place is the perfect combination to grow mold. Then when you turn the vacuum on it blows the mold around your house.
Also, make sure you allow your filter to completely dry before putting it back in your vacuum bin. Get out any excess water and then let it air dry until it`s totally dry. You do not want to put a damp filter back in the vacuum.

ANSWER : # 1 myou just take the bag out make sure ytou sponge filter is in place athe top and turn it on the power switch just turns on ,machine ther is no wet dry switch just an empty bagless cannister is all you need make sure the ball outlet in vacumn is working it stops water from overfilling cannister # 2 just use the proper bag and attachment to vacumn up the drywall dust a good building supply store has special sanding attachments for vacumn so you can sand and vacumn at the same time

Shop Vac Can I **** water with a 4.5 12 gallon Shop Vac into the main cannister or is there another connection? DO you use the same one for both wet and dry??
ANSWER : You **** up water the same way as dirt. It’s designed this way, hence the name wet/dry. Just be sure not to get the water in the very top of the unit where the motor sucks the air for cooling ventilation, if water gets in there it can burn up the motor. A little hard way, personal experience, speaking there.
