I can lubricate the “belt end” bearing, but of course the bearing behind the impeller is well hidden. a few attempts to remove the impeller have been unsuccessful. I cannot grip the motor shaft in my vise securely enough to be able to turn the nut on the other end of the shaft. I don't want to use the ***** vise to avoid marring the motor shaft. So, is it possible to get some lubricant into that hidden bearing? My high-pitched squeal seems to be coming from the impeller side when I power it up in its current ***** state.\015

If there is a strong burning smell coming from the motor area of your Dyson DC14 or DC07 then it is most likely that your motor has burnt out.
Check the Circuit
Check the vacuum cleaner to see if it tripped a circuit breaker or blew a fuse. Check the circuit breakers, or fuses and, if it has tripped a circuit breaker or blown a fuse, simply re-set the breaker, or replace the fuse, and switch the vacuum on again.

If your Dyson Ball Animal vacuum no longer sucks up dirt, dust, and debris when using the nozzle and its attachments, there may be a clog in the vacuum`s nozzle. Unplug the vacuum and use the Dyson Ball Animal Hose Replacement Guide to remove the vacuum`s hose and check for clogs at the base of the hose.
The simplest place to start: empty your dirt container. Debris in the main cyclone passage will cut suction rapidly. If the container was really full, you should also check the filters because they can get loaded with dust if the Dirt container is too full. Test the vacuum, and see if the suction is back.
As the cleaner head and filter fills with dirt and debris over time, all the built-up debris begins to emit a burnt-smelling odour. You may need to remove and clean out the vacuum`s filter.
Burning smell can indicate motor damage
If you suspect that the motor is damaged, you should not continue to use the vacuum cleaner! The cause of motor damage is usually wear and tear or damage caused by prolonged improper use (e.g. overheating). In most cases, it is not worth repairing.
If you`re smelling rubber, the belt has either burned out and snapped or the belt has become so stretched out that the roller is not moving and the vacuum belt is getting super heated from the motors RPM.
This issue could be caused by a blockage in your machine. Please clean the machine and check for blockages. Unplug your Dyson personal purifying fan from the mains electricity supply before cleaning. Look for blockages in the air inlet holes on the shroud and the dome.

Bad Motor I have purchased two of the Kenmore direct drive beltless systems with Progressive systems. The first died after a year, the vacuum motor start making a grinding noies. ANSWER : That dust is from the carbon brushes on the motor. You may need to check them, and also clean out the motor compartment. A slight noise could be a motor bearing starting to go. Does the smell like rubber or electrical. If rubber, then the belt has stretched and needs to replaced. If electrical, then something is causing the motor to run hot, like a clogged filter, or it could be a motor going bad.

Hoover Elite II Model # u4689-910 Impeller replacement
ANSWER : I have had to use a dremmel tool to cut the plastic around the shaft, you can also something sharp and a hammer to break away the remainer of the fan. There are no threads on the fan so to keep truning it may or may not get it off. Just have to watch and not damage the motor shaft and housing.

Motor Fried? Eureka 431BX Vacuuming, and then all of the sudden the motor just stopped. DYson DC07 not sucking properly when in upright mode. I have tried cleaning out pipes etc and even tried an old motor section I had in garage (replaced once under warranty as kept cutting out and they left old motor section here). Even the old motor section had same prob so this suggests its something in the rest of the vacuum cleaner (whats left after you have lifted off the green motor section and dust collection area if you see what I mean? Any advice weclome please.

The motor in my Powermate (Kenmore Canister 116.27614700) is whining, high pitched, but still works. A local shop told me the motor is dying (the one in the Powermate that drives the beater bar) and would cost $150 for them to repair. The machine is only 1.5 years old and I paid $300…yikes.
I think I can fix it but don’t understand why the foam gasket that apparently wraps around the motor costs as much as the motor. This is assuming that part 32 (ks747156) is the foam I see glued to my cur
ANSWER : I think you are right! Buy the motor…..use the gasket from the old motor if you can cut it off clean and just glue it on the new one.

Electrolux Centralux I have a Electrolux Centralux. When I plug the hose in at one of the wall outlets the motor will not start. If I go to the motor and slap the unit it will start…..then…it will not stop unless I unplug the power cord to the motor. If I plug the power cord back in, the unit will not restart until I slap the motor unit again. The unit has only been used 20 – 30 times. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Bruce
ANSWER : I dont know if you had your unit looked at yet but it sounds like the Power module is going. I repair the machines so I know some of the work.

I have a Eureka Boss Model 411… I need to know where the reset button is for the suction motor. The canister was clogged on the backside, I didn’t see it and the suction motor shut off. I have cleared the obstruction, but don’t know where the reset is for that motor. I know how to reset the brush head motor.
ANSWER : If your vacuum motor overheats, it will stop working. it will start working again once it cools.
