Insert your belt through the left-side loops first.
Take the end of your belt and insert it into your belt loops with the loop on the front left side of your pants. Thread the strap end through each loop, pulling the belt through as you go. Once you reach the last loop, buckle your belt.

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner–trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting –is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor, not contacting the carpeting?? I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting. ANSWER : Take the belt off again you will see burnt rubber from the old belt stuck to the motor shaft.you can take a fine piece of emery cloth and clean the shaft down to its polished finish.always good to do this after each belt.check the brush roller and see if there are any signsd of plastic melted.make sure it turns freely if not the brush roller might be siezing uo on youhave you cleaned the hepa filter?does it smell like wires burning or rubber.with it unlugged take it apart to the motor and take a fine iece of emery cloth and go over the motor armature .then try it again.you can take all the filters out and run it without the filters.that will help you narrow it down.please leave feedback

ANSWER : On the bottom of the vacume you should see about 4 screws ( philips ) that hold the plate in place, remove the screws and plate and this will expose the motor shaft,belt and roller ( you should also see the broken belt there two ) — pop out the roller ( pull straight up ). put new belt onto the motorspindle and then onto the roller, snap roller back into place ( note: on the edges of the roller it is somewhat keyed to only fit into the vacume a certain way ), replace the the plate and screws and you are good to go. also while you are getting dirty — clean the air filter and examine the hose between the floor roller and the suction hose for dirt build up and debris.

My Mom has a Dirt Devil Featherlite and the belt falls off all the time. I put it on three times today and it falls off within a few minutes. The belt post I put it on doesn’t have anything to hold the belt on. Is there supposed to be something holding the belt?
ANSWER : It sounds like the belt is too worn and loose to stay on. Buy a new belt specified for that model of vacuum and install. Ensure that there is only a slight amount of give in the belt when you press the middle.
