Dyson DC05 Cylinder Bagless Canister Cyclonic Vacuum\015 Hi Champ,I recently bought the Dyson DC05 at second hand market, I don’t have the operation manual to refer to. Can some one please tell me how many filters are there within this machine as I saw one seating under the collected bins, The one on the top of it does not have anything in it. However it seems to me that it should have something on it and would that be a second filter, if so do you know the part number that i can get it for?many thanks Guys\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

A Dyson vacuum cleaner has two filters in it, a pre-motor and a post-motor filter.
While some machines use one HEPA filter, most Dyson vacuums use two filters; the pre-motor filter and the post-motor filter.
Your Dyson vacuum cleaner may include one or more filters that need to be cleaned to keep your machine operating at its best. Washing your Dyson filter is quick and easy.
Location – This filter can be inside the dust bin, remove the dust bin and the filter is located in the upper section of your cyclonic dust bin.
Full-sized upright vacuum. Ball technology allows you to turn on a dime. Quick-draw telescope reach wand expands for easy high-reach cleaning. Patented Root Cyclone technology cleans all floor surfaces.
“Most vacuum cleaners will have two filters – pre-motor and post-motor. In general, the pre-motor filter would be made of foam or fabric and can handle a larger quantity of dust before needing cleaning. The post-motor filter would more likely be folded or pleated and made from a finer filter medium.
PLEASE NOTE: This Dyson vacuum cleaner has one filter, located as shown. It is important to check your filter and wash with cold water regularly or as required to maintain performance.
The better the filtration, the fewer allergens escape back into your home. Bagged vacuums often have HEPA-rated bags, replaceable exhaust filters or both. Bagless canisters usually have permanent, washable filters, some with HEPA ratings.
The first thing to know is, there are two filters you can clean. They`re attached, so no need to go hunting for both. To clean the filter, simply turn the filter (the purple encasement with the paper fan) counterclockwise, and remove it.

It`s recommended that you replace the HEPA Filter Cartridge Assembly on a yearly basis, as this filter can NOT be washed, and wash the secondary Pre-Motor filter once every 30 days, and replace it after 6 washing`s to maintain peak performance of your Dyson DC25.

Finding the machine serial number

The serial number and WiFi information can be found in the following locations: On the front of the user guide. On a removable sticker on the front of the purifier. On your purifier, located underneath the filter.

How many filters does Dyson DC05 has?
ANSWER : The DC05 has two filters.  In terms of air-flow through the machine, one sits between the bin and the vacuum motor, the other is after the motor and is effectively the exhaust filter. The one that’s missing on your machine is the first filter – it consists of a blue foam disc contained within a yellow surround (the base of the surround has additional filter material built in to it). Both components are washable (but be sure everything is absolutely dry before re-installing after washing).  The filter you can see under the bin is the second (HEPA) filter. This one is usually quite long-lived but, if your machine has been used without the first filter in place, the HEPA filter almost certainly needs replacing too.  The machine should never be used without the first filter in place, as that will risk serious damage to the motor and will certainly shorten its life.  Incidentally, user manuals can be downloaded from dyson.com.

I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter. When the V/C was next used, there was again a burning smell and sparks. The filters were switched, but the V/C would not re-start.
What shall I do?

.Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Or, you can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the manufacturer’s website and or phone #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Our problem with our Rainbow E Series is that it has sucked water up and blown it out through the lower part of the hepa filter, making the filter wet and dirty. This had happened before and the repair shop did not see any problems with the machine, so we replaced the filter and were very carful not to overfill the tank and to change the water often. Now it has happened again and ruined another filter. Do you know what could be causing this issue? Can the filter be cleaned or will a new one be

Hello, thank you for sharing your problem with us, I would personally be happy to provide the most accurate and up to date information for you.

1. There is no reason to waste money on an EXPENSIVE replacement. While some people may like the fact that something that may be brand new may work better, this is not always the case.
.

2. You can easily set the filter out to try as long as there is NO WET ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, if so, you will be facing electrical damage
.

3. Once you have performed a natural or sun dry on the old filter, ensure to check your unit for anything that may have caused the back clog.
.

4. Back clogs for your model are often times associated with a BUILD UP of dirt and HAIR. YOU may always use pressure air for example at a gas station to flush out the build up.
.

5. Other occasions, users accidently build the vac WRONG causing continual backup and water going where it is NOT suppose to go.

ANSWER : This isn’t really a problem that can be fixed here on Fixya rather than advise you as a buyer. You’d have to contact the people/company you have purchased the filters from and take it up with them regarding the postage. Hope you get a decent reply.

Dyson DC05 problem with filters.
ANSWER : First, and for sure, the problem is in the collection unit (CU), not the filter.  Is it possible that something is missing from the CU?  When you remove the CU to empty it, and you lift off the top, a conical yellow part remains attached to the inside of the lid; another yellow part remains in the bottom of the CU, with a big black rubber seal on top.
I think the problem you describe will occur if that black rubber seal is missing, displaced or damaged (perhaps it dropped out with the dirt and you didn’t notice).  A healthy seal between those two yellow parts inside the CU is essential.
Please rate my response if this helps.  If it doesn’t help, also let me know and I’ll think again.

I have just replaced my Dyson DC14 Motor and now it blows the hepa filter out and filter cap off from under the bin the air is really hot. Is something wrong?

My dyson DC07 animal does not have the suction it once had I saw a dyson program that showed a filter in the top of the canister I was just aware of the filter around the wheel. Is there one on top of the canister and how do you get to it
ANSWER : Hi
.
.The DC04 Dyson has a filter at the top, but the DC07 has one at the side on the bottom and one underneath the cylender.
.
.Take all the parts off your dyson and throw them in the washing machine and then put them back together
