The cyclone part of your Dyson vacuum is the special filter that filters out finer dust particles using centrifugal force. Technically, you can wash it.
Hold the handle of your appliance firmly and gently rotate the filter cage anti-clockwise. Pull down and away from the appliance. Wash the filter cage under a warm, running tap. Leave the filter cage to soak in warm soapy water for 30 minutes.
Wash filters in cold water only (don`t use detergent or wash in a dishwasher or washing machine). Rinsing under the water supply then gently squeezing the water out of the filter.
The single washable filter on a Dyson handheld stick vacuum cleaner is located on top of the cyclone. To remove it, simply hold the small bump on the end of the filter and pull upwards.
We recommend replacing your air purifier filter every 12 months. That`s because over time, filters can get clogged with pollutants, and even let unpleasant odors back into the room.

The cleaner head housing is not washable and should only be wiped over with a damp lint-free cloth. To maintain optimum performance, check and wash your brush bar regularly. Make sure your machine is disconnected from the charger and take care not to touch the trigger.
Filters in Dyson air purifiers have been designed to last up to a full year, based on 12 hours of daily use. However, the filter may need replacing earlier depending on environmental conditions. If you live in a highly polluted city, you may find it needs changing sooner.
If your filter is clogged, you may need to give it a good cleaning with vinegar. Just mix equal parts vinegar and water in a bowl and let the filter soak for about 15 minutes. Then, rinse it off with clean water and let it dry completely before putting it back in your vacuum.
If the filter is not installed correctly, then the air can flow around the filter and not into it. When that happens, the filter won`t get dirty because all that air isn`t going anywhere near it.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Typically the top filter of which is the sponge is washable but the HEPA filter is not, it can be brushed off and vacuum off with another vacuum, but the best filtration is to replace the HEPA filter and to wash the sponge filter, if the sponge filter get to bad then replace the sponge filter as well. Go Ahead. Use Us. Shop vacuum float rises to shut off vaccuum immediately when turned on. Is using foam filter covered by Shop vac paper filter. Vac is shopvac 86L450
I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter. When the V/C was next used, there was again a burning smell and sparks. The filters were switched, but the V/C would not re-start.
What shall I do?

Filters have been clogged with wet cat litter and now the vac will turn on but shuts off and wont cont to vaccume. can we clean/rinse the filter out. filter light has come on and then turns off once the vac shuts down.. thanks
ANSWER : Using a vacuum cleaner for wet cat litter??? Not a good idea at the best of times! The machine’s cutting out because it’s overheating. You don’t tell us the make or model of your machine – some filters are washable, many are not. Your user manual should tell you. As a general rule, cloth- or sponge-type filters are probably washable, paper ones are not. If you do wash the filter, give it at least 24 hours in a warm place to dry thoroughly before re-using.
Hoover u5781-900, motor shuts off (intermittent)when you shake vac or make jerky movements.If you move vac to up right position the vac starts right up.When you giggle vac, motor starts and stops no mater if you just started up or vac for ran for 45 min. Thanks Lucy C.

Our problem with our Rainbow E Series is that it has sucked water up and blown it out through the lower part of the hepa filter, making the filter wet and dirty. This had happened before and the repair shop did not see any problems with the machine, so we replaced the filter and were very carful not to overfill the tank and to change the water often. 1. There is no reason to waste money on an EXPENSIVE replacement. While some people may like the fact that something that may be brand new may work better, this is not always the case.

2. You can easily set the filter out to try as long as there is NO WET ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, if so, you will be facing electrical damage

3. Once you have performed a natural or sun dry on the old filter, ensure to check your unit for anything that may have caused the back clog.

4. Back clogs for your model are often times associated with a BUILD UP of dirt and HAIR. YOU may always use pressure air for example at a gas station to flush out the build up.

5. Other occasions, users accidently build the vac WRONG causing continual backup and water going where it is NOT suppose to go.

I just received my Hepa filter in the mail today. Product #XSH621 – Hepa filter for EP619 & EP621 :005-04 When bought my vacumn, I was told that the filters were free and all I do is pay Postage. Today I received one filter and it lookes like I got charged the postage for two filters. The packages slips: One stated order #11152282 The other order # 1151940 If I get charged for two I expect to receive two. Can you help me with this matter or where can I go to get resolution. Power nozzle not working on my vac but does on another vac
ANSWER : If pushing the reset button doesn’t help try having your local Aerus dealer check out the 2 prongs in the power head where it all connects. Sometimes they go bad.
