Numatic Henry Bagged Canister Vacuum\015 I am a facilities manager and have 4 Henrys(HVR200). They are usually trouble free but one is giving me a problem with cutting off then cooling down and turning back on. I assume they have a built-in safety so the motor doesn\342\200\231t burn up. It runs no more than 3 to 4 minutes before cutting off. Takes about 30 to 40 secs to come back on. I did a little troubleshooting with removing the top-hat filter (yes, before you ask I had the filter plastic web up) just to see if this was causing the overheating. It still cuts off. Put in a fresh new paper bag with no top-hat filter, still cuts off. Then I removed the bag. Only when I have nothing in the canister it will stay running. I don\342\200\231t know if there are any serviceable parts that I can replace, but any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time. Dave\015

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Henry is fitted with a thermal cut out. If it has been running for an extended period of time, the overload will cut in and stop Henry from working until he has cooled down.
Overheating usually occurs because the dust bag has not been emptied, filter has not been cleaned or there is a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bent hand piece. If your vacuum shuts down unexpectedly, make sure you turn the vacuum off and unplug it from the wall socket.
Capacity: 9 Litre. Dimension: 415mm (H) X 355mm (W) X 355mm (D). Power (Watts): 580 W. Suction: 2500mm.
Check that the vacuum cleaner is plugged into a working power outlet and that fuses and breakers don`t need resetting. An activated thermal cut-out due to a blockage is the next most likely cause of the problem. Check for blockages in the hose and filters, and remove any obstructions that you find.
If the bag gets too full, this will put a strain on the motor, resulting in a loss of suction. It depends on how often you use the vacuum, but it`s recommended that you change the bag every six months.
If there is something that has become caught in the hose in another part of the system, the airflow will be reduced and can cause overheating and a shut down. Clear out hoses, attachments, and brushes of any hair, dirt, and debris. This will allow for restored airflow and should get things going again.
We recommend to replace your Henry filter at least every 12 months depending upon the amount of use. In between new filters you can clean your Henry filter to remove the dust and increase suction. You can learn how to clean your Henry filter here.
That`s no surprise: according to manufacturer Numatic, every Henry is “designed, tested and engineered to last a whopping 25 years”.
Henry hoover can operate without a filter in place though it won`t work as well and you will likely damage the motor in the process. Nonetheless, it will still operate as the motor will still run and you will be provided with some level of suction.
The Commercial version has a longer power cable at 12.5metres long, whereas a standard Henry only has a 10-metre power cable. A stronger drum design intended for commercial applications. A bumper ring around the front wheels protects Henry should he bump into anything.
Due to new European laws concerning the power consumption of consumer appliances, Numatic saw fit to alter the power of the latest Henry vacuum models. Today, all Henry vacuum cleaners come with a standard 620W motor, instead of the more powerful version that was in the older machines.
The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
Low compression, an intake leak or tight valves also can cause low vacuum at idle. If the vacuum reading fluctuates within the normal range-the gauge needle bounces around a lot-uneven compression (broken rings or leaking valves or head gasket in one or two cylinders) is a likely culprit.
According to a consumer report survey, the medium lifespan for a vacuum is 8 years.

My dyson d14 animal keeps cutting in and out. When it’s on, the hole above where the filter is, keeps making a loud suction noise and it won’t clean up hair and dirt.
ANSWER : Vacuum Cleaners require AIr-Flow. Your machine is not getting any air-flow. The noise you hear is a valve opening up to prevent your machine from overheating and burning out the motor.
You probably have an obstruction somewhere in the machine. Dysons are kind of known for that in the vacuum cleaner world.
Check all air channels and clean them out. If that fixes the problem you still might have issues that caused it to clog up.

I posted the part second because it takes 24 hours to complete it.
Be sure you wash your Washable Pre-filter. It needs to dry for 24 hours. Never put it back in the machine wet.

Once it is completely dry reinstall the pre-filter and your machine should be back to normal operating functions.

Let me know f this helps.
