How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

With a Hyla bagless vacuum, the air is forced through a water bath, which traps every fine dust particle. The water and air are then separated so that only clean and completely fresh air re-enters your home.
The most common reason for vacuum motors failing is overheating. Most `dry` vacuums have a flow-though motor. These motors use the air they have sucked up the dust with, to cool themselves. When there is a blockage, flow-though motors are unable to cool themselves due to the lack of airflow.
The HYLA air cleaning mode is controlled by an electronic timer which will automatically switch off the HYLA after 25 minutes.
A damaged vacuum hose, clogged motor air filter or bad suction motor can cause the vacuum cleaner to shut off during use. A tripped overload on the vacuum suction motor can shut off the vacuum cleaner during use. If your vacuum has a reset button, push it; if the vacuum seems hot, let it cool off first.
Loose connections will cause your vacuum cleaner to lose suction. Make sure that the dust container, the hose, the tube and the brush are all attached properly. If the problem continues, your vacuum cleaner might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
An inadequate oil supply is one of the most common causes of malfunctions with vacuum pumps. Modern vacuum pumps need 30 to 60 litres of lubricating oil per hour to function properly. If the oil supply is not adequate, this can lead to leakages in the pump.
The HYLA Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner can be used on both carpets and upholstery. Simply apply some to the stained area or just add a few capfuls to your Nimbus water tank to intensify the effects of the Wet Cleaning System.
The HYLA water hoover combines air and room cleaning. By vacuuming, the device binds dirt and dust with water and releases more moisture into the air. In this way, you ensure a clean home and higher humidity at the same time.

If all you hear from the vacuum unit is a click at the when you try to start the vacuum motor from inside the house, then the motor in the unit is dead and has to be replaced. A strong odor from the shellac, which coats the copper coil windings, is an indicator that the motor is about to or has burnt out.
The most common problems found in vacuum cleaners are low suction force, excessive noise, burning smell, vacuum not turn on, and overheating. These issues can be fixed by either cleaning the device or replacing some parts of the device. At times, it is best to seek a professional to fix the cleaner effectively.
Motor Thermostat needs resetting

Unplug the vacuum. Check for a clogged hose or filter; unclog the hose and replace the filter. Wait 45 minutes for the vacuum to cool; then plug in the vacuum. Turn the power switch to the “I-On” position to start the vacuum.

The Shark vacuum has a 30-foot cord and 1,200W of power for deep-cleaning thick carpets. Despite this high motor power, the vacuum only weighs 13.7 pounds. The dust collection canister can be lifted off the vacuum base to enable better access under furniture.
Putting in the incorrect amount of oil, putting in the wrong type of oil, and oil contamination can all cause the pump to not reach full vacuum. For this reason, you must check the oil regularly to ensure that it is not only clean, but also properly filled.
Drive variants

Vacuum pumps can be driven by means of cams, tappets, chains, belts or cam discs. Single-vane vacuum pumps are state-of-the-art: they are mostly mounted to the cylinder head and are driven by the camshaft. Electric vacuum pumps can be switched on independently of the vehicle engine as and when needed.

Even in a vacuum there remains some pressure… it is simply a pressure at a magnitude below the surrounding atmospheric pressure. Vacuum does not necessarily mean the absence of all pressure; vacuum can be any pressure between 0 PSIA and 14.7 PSIA.
Vacuum uses the surrounding atmosphere to create work force by pulling on, rather than pushing, a work piece. Evacuating air from a closed volume develops a pressure differential between the volume and the surrounding atmosphere.
With liquid ring vacuum pump, usually water is used to seal the vacuum chamber within the pump housing. In some instances when the vacuum is drying materials saturated with other chemicals a special sealing liquid may be used, which may actually be the byproduct of the industrial process itself.
If you don`t vacuum your carpet, the dirt will break down carpet fibers and create a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria. In addition, your home will begin to smell musty from the dirt, mites, and other organisms settling into the fibers.
It is able to remove dead skin cells, dirt, dust, mites, bed bugs and any other impurities because of its high suction power. The HYLA EST can also be used to suck any unwanted liquid like spilled water, as well as stain removal of hard floors.

Water vacuums clean better than a canister vacuum. This is primarily because using the power of water as a filtration system is a much more efficient way of cleaning than using an air suction vacuum with messy bags.
HEPA vacuums are sealed and have special filters that clean all of the air going out of the vacuum. Standard vacuums usually filter the outgoing air via the vacuum bag.

I purchased a brand new Eureka Pet vacuum, sorry don’t know exact name but it the one that has the self cleaning duster on it. Last night I used the vacuum on my carpet, it was working fine until I accidently sucked up the corner of a scarf that was hanging off a couch. I shut the vacuum off, pulled out the scarf and and resumed vacuuming. Much to my dismay the suction on the vacuum had ceased. Can you tell me if there is a reset button on the vacuum? The vacuum does not appear to be damage
ANSWER : If the motor is running, there should be suction. Possible problems depend on whether it’s a canister or upright and are:
.A clog in the hose, UR or canister. Detach hose. Drop small coin in one end and lift hose causing it to roll out the other. If it does, no clog in hose. Drop same coin into hose opening on power head. If it rolls out, no clog in PN.
.Broken fan blades, UR. Needs to be taken to shop for repair/replacement.
.
.A reset button is for use if the motor isn’t running, so won’t have anything to do with the suction.

ANSWER : That dust is from the carbon brushes on the motor. You may need to check them, and also clean out the motor compartment. A slight noise could be a motor bearing starting to go. Does the smell like rubber or electrical. If rubber, then the belt has stretched and needs to replaced. If electrical, then something is causing the motor to run hot, like a clogged filter, or it could be a motor going bad.

I purchased a Eureka C4910 last year and have a question that I am hoping you can answer.

There are two motor actions with this vacuum, 1) the vacuum suction, and 2) the beater bar. The action of the beater bar is that motor is supposed to automatically shut off when the handle is in the complete vertical position assuming the vacuum is stationary, but then turn on when the handle is tilted toward the floor, assuming the vacuum is moving back and forth.

The beater bar motor turn-on mechan

ANSWER : Good day!

Normally when the motor is easily moved back and forth means that it have a proper lubrication, proper alignment and no clogs.

When the motor and the belt is OK the problem could be on electrical wiring and switch.

If found electrical switch burned out you need to replaced it because when the switch is burn the contact of that switch is open even you turn it ON.that’s why the motor is not function because the voltage is not pass through the circuit because of open switch. You need to replaced it.
And check some fuses if any and other burned electrical wire.Replaced it also.

Thank you and don’t forget to rate my answer.
