The Roomba® s Series Dual Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes – now 30% wider* clean large areas efficiently and work together to help get floors thoroughly clean. One brush loosens and agitates dirt, and the other moves in the opposite direction to extract and pull it in. Compatible with Roomba s Series Robot Vacuums Only.
The side brush is on all Roombas and helps sweep dirt, dust, and hair into the vacuum`s suction. However, that same dirt and dust may stop it from being trapped under the unit.
Besides regularly cleaning the brushes on your Roomba, you`ll also need to replace them from time to time. iRobot recommends replacing the two main brushes every six to twelve months.
The Roomba® j series robots utilize a front-facing camera and a front-facing LED, allowing the robot to accurately see and avoid objects on the floor during a cleaning run. The camera uses the front-facing LED to view objects on the floor better, but is not bright enough to allow the robot to run in the dark.
Newer Roombas have captive retainer screws in the brushes, but they can still come loose. Check that the side brush screw is tight. If it`s loose, tighten it. If the screw hole in the end of the shaft that the brush is mounted on gets stripped out, it is easier for brushes to stop spinning or fall off.
Most owners believe that running their robot vacuums four times per week is sufficient to keep the floors dust-free. However, if you have children or pets, you should use your robot vacuum more frequently. Daily vacuuming is recommended if you suffer from seasonal allergies.

It`s easy to ignore, but there`s a filter inside the bin compartment, and if you`re not cleaning it regularly—and replacing it once in a while—your Roomba will get less and less efficient as it sweeps your floors.

Product Recycling

Both Roomba® and Braava® robots can be recycled. Up to nearly 90% of certain Roomba® models are recyclable. The company expects that the recyclability of Roomba® and Braava® will continue to increase as it further refines and evolves its design and manufacturing processes.

End Job: The robot will automatically end its job once you get home*. Off: If you turn off the `When I return home` toggle, the robot will continue its cleaning job with no interruptions.
The Roomba keeps saying empty the bin when the dustbin sensors send full bin signals. This can be frustrating as it happens even when you have already emptied the bin. To avoid this, thoroughly clean the Roomba bin sensors and the dustbin after emptying.
To reset the Brush bar press the Brush bar control button twice or switch the machine off and back on. Please note: In normal use, the Brush bar automatically turns off when the machine is upright and automatically turns on when the machine is in the vacuuming position.
The brush bar release button is located at the back of the cleaner head. Reassemble your filter Dry your filter Wash your filter Press the button on the bin handle to detach the bin from your machine.
If you checked your brush roll, floor setting, and belt but your brush roll is still not spinning, that means you probably need a Shark micro switch replacement. This small switch tells the vacuums brush when to start spinning.
Inspecting the Vacuum Commutator for Motor Brush Problems

Test that by turning the motor off and pushing on the center shaft, the armature. If it has any play, besides spinning, then replace the motor. If solid then replace the brushes – motor brush replacement instructions.

“We would recommend vacuuming at least once or twice a week—and more often if we have pets—with the right tools to remove dust quickly and effectively,” Patel advises.
