The BISSELL portable and handheld carpet washer are wet extraction models only. Please do not use as a dry vacuum. If you use as a dry vacuum, you may damage your deep cleaner and void your warranty.
You can absolutely use the bissell crosswave as just a vacuum.
Although some carpet steamers and cleaners have a suction mechanism to remove the cleaning fluid and water from your carpet after cleaning the area, you should only use them for steaming or cleaning a carpet and never use them like a vacuum cleaner.
Can I use cleaning formulas other than the BISSELL brand? It`s possible to use others, but we recommend against it. Our formulas contain no dyes, phosphates or optical brighteners, and will produce optimal cleaning performance when used in combination with BISSELL carpet cleaning machines.
It will remove any visible stains, and the baking soda will also remove pet odor. While baking soda can work wonders on stains, it`s not recommended for use with the cleaner. It can overload the filters and even cause the vacuum motor to stall. If you regularly use this cleaner, you could risk voiding its warranty.
You can try using 1 cup of white vinegar in your Bissell Spot Cleaner. Pour in the Vinegar, then fill the rest of the Bissell Spot Cleaner tank with hot tap water. Just be sure to follow normal safety guidelines that go with using vinegar as a cleaner.

Add 2 oz of BISSELL 2X Formula to the tank Measure 4 oz (2 capfuls) and pour into tank. Fill the clean water/solution tank with hot (not boiling) tap water to the WATER fill line Add formula to the indicated fill line (approximately 0.5 oz) on the solution tank.

ANSWER : Pump part number is 2107181, the diverter valve # 2136988. You can Bissell and they can tell you who may have parts near you, or you maybe able to order thru Bissell.com. Before you took it apart, were you getting water to spray out of the hose. If you were the the heater is plugged and won’t allow water to spray out the bottom.

Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine and I turned on and it turns and so do the brushes at the bottom of the machine. I was reading online and I guess there’s two belts on this machine? where can I find the other belt to see if it needs replacing. I guess it’s a ribbed belt? that is the water pump belt?
ANSWER : Just taken ours apart with the same problem… found it was caused by the 2 halves of the main casing coming apart in the area where the upright pedal release is. I found this to be due to the upper casing having broken in 2 places – the bottom of the screw wells..This means that the water tank cannot exert sufficient pressure on the valve to release the water..Only solution is a new top cover assembly

New replacement pump on Bissell ProHeat Protech not working
ANSWER : Made a mistake, my model # is bissel 7901. Won’t spray water..When you turn the machine on, it sprays for a minute or so then stops. All belts are in place..water tanks and spray bottle positioned correctly.
