Potential Damage
As we`ve said so many times already, putting anything except distilled water in a clothing steamer can result in significant damage to the product.
While using your steamer, the steam nozzle should be close to the surface that you are cleaning. This will break down and blast away messes on the surface. Water being left behind is normal as the steam cools and condensation occurs.

Except when you are descaling a steam mop, do NOT put anything other than water in the tank. Water type to use
Your steam iron or garment steamer has been designed to be used with tap water.
You will need to top up with just-boiled water 2-3 times as it will cool and lose the steam. Use ordinary water, just-boiled from the kettle. You do not need to add anything to it.
Never overfill. Never use water left overnight in steamer.
Typical steam cleaners can use anywhere from 1000 to 1800 watts. (For comparison sake, a typical lamp uses about 60 watts, while a typical computer uses about 365 watts).
How many watts should a clothes steamer be? Balanzat recommends looking for steamers between 1,000 and 2,000 watts. Consider the types of fabrics you plan to use your steamer with. If you`re only using it on delicate fabrics or one garment at a time, you might get away with a lower wattage.
Steam cleaners are a wonderful way to deep-clean many types of surfaces since they don`t use harsh chemicals. Hard surfaces easily cleanable with a steam cleaner include countertops, kitchen & bathroom fixtures, some types of flooring, as well as other impervious surfaces.

Now that I just fixed my Lux Legacy canister vacuum, I need help on my other Electrolux Regency Series upright! The vacuum works fine but the rotating brush does not work and the brush motor does not turn on. Tried cleaning the brush and hitting hte reset button to no avail. This upright has a triple setting switch and I checked the each of the wires seem to be attached. Tried rotating the brush by hand and it would not budge. ANSWER : There are a couple rectangular holes on the bottom of the power nozzle, beside the wheels. These have tabs in them that need released with a standard screwdriver.

I am looking for a Hoover Steam Vac Bare Floor Attachment, Part #90001331. I found one in the US for $8.95 but by the time I paid shipping and handling it would cost $91.77, a little ridiculous. I am looking for one in Canada. Can you help. I have heard Hoover has been bought out and parts are very difficult to purchase. I bought this 1 month ago and I’m sorry I didn’t know this prior to purchasing.

ANSWER : If this is a Hoover Steam vac, the turbine which drives the brushes is bad. If not a Hoover, then what is it, they are different, need brand and model number.

Streaks on porcelein tile from shark steam mop
ANSWER : I have the same problem!!! its driving me nuts, i think its the microfibe pads that do it. I used the kenwood steam mop and it didnt have a microfibe cleaning pad on the bottom of it and it cleaned it perfectly, no streaks! because that blew up i have the monster mop and it streaks every time, i ended up wraping a bath towl around the base and mopping with that on it, dont know what else to do?

I have a hoover 3000 i have not used in awhile, and since I removed a large rug, I would like to use it again on my slate floor. HOWEVER, I cannot get it to pick up ANY water in the water recovery unit……it is dry, dry, dry. I have put in a new filter, cleaned the nozzle unit, the scrubber , and reconnected both the recovery unit and the water unit several times, but to no avail. ANSWER : Have you made sure the plastic filter cover with the round hole in it that covers the filter is in place ( part # 59177096 ). This piece seems to get lost, and without it there is no pick-up. The other common problem is that the wheel assembly has been damaged. Look at the bottom of the Floormate. You will see a black plastic wheel assembly. There are two pegs at the rear attaching it to the base. If this piece has a crack in it where it attaches to the base, there will be no pick-up.

Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!
ANSWER : Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins — just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that “remove and clean brushes” message.
