How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Replacement wet & dry PET cartridge filter. Compatible with 11564 and 67098 . Washable to extend usage. Enables wet, damp or dry use without removing filter.
Rinse the filter

Any fine dust remaining in the filter can usually be removed with a gentle rinse under a cold tap – hold the filter under the running water until the water runs clear. You shouldn`t need to use any detergent – just water.

Replace the filter. Do not replace the filter in the vacuum if it is still damp.
To clean a foam filter, submerge it in water, squeeze it to allow the dirt to escape the foam, and allow it to air dry before putting it back in your vacuum. If you want the room to smell really nice next time you`re vacuuming, add a few drops of essential oil to the foam.
In general, though, most cabin air filters should be replaced somewhere between every 15,000 and 30,000 miles. You may also notice any of the following signs: Reduced air flow when climate control systems are on.

ANSWER : Mary, I have some wonderful news for you and your Oreck XL2600 Vacuum, I called 1 800 989 3535 customer service and inquired about your bag attach problem, it seems to be a docking station problem that “may” be warranteed, however if it is missing then it is assumed not a manufacturers defect and therefore must be purchased, however they assured me the price is reasonable and inexpensive.
.Please call the 1 800 # above with the model XL2600 upright and they will assist you in locating a repair store nearest yoou or you may go online to www.oreck.com and visit there store locator using your zip code, please dont try to glue…. lost my user manual never used it to pick up water. need to know how to puit it in wet mode i want to clean the dirty water out of my pool.
ANSWER : .Vacuuming Liquids
.1. When picking up small amounts of liquid
.the filter may be left in place.
.2. When picking up large amounts of liquid
.we recommend that the filter be
.removed. If the filter is not removed, it
.will become saturated and misting
.may appear in the exhaust.
.3. After using the vac to pick up liquids,
.the filter must be dried to reduce the
.risk of possible mildew and damage to
.the filter.
.4. When the liquid in the drum reaches a
.predetermined level, the float mechanism
.will rise automatically to cut off
.airflow. When this happens, turn off
.the vac, unplug the power cord, and
.empty the drum. You will know that the
.float has risen because vac airflow
.ceases and the motor noise will
.become higher in pitch, due to
.increased motor speed.
.IMPORTANT: To reduce the risk of damage
.to the vac do not run motor with float
.in raised position

I have a hoover 3000 i have not used in awhile, and since I removed a large rug, I would like to use it again on my slate floor. HOWEVER, I cannot get it to pick up ANY water in the water recovery unit……it is dry, dry, dry. I have put in a new filter, cleaned the nozzle unit, the scrubber , and reconnected both the recovery unit and the water unit several times, but to no avail. I would like to get a graut attachment a well as replacement part, but since I can’t get the basic unit to work, I
ANSWER : Have you made sure the plastic filter cover with the round hole in it that covers the filter is in place ( part # 59177096 ). This piece seems to get lost, and without it there is no pick-up. The other common problem is that the wheel assembly has been damaged. Look at the bottom of the Floormate. You will see a black plastic wheel assembly. There are two pegs at the rear attaching it to the base. If this piece has a crack in it where it attaches to the base, there will be no pick-up.

It’s been awhile since I have used my shampoo system on my Ultimate G series Kirby. Well, as instructed I took it apart and cleaned it. Now I can?t figure out where to put the ?screen cap? and ?sponge filter?. I have my manual in front of me and the only place it shows the filter and sponge (page 35 in the manual) is when it?s been taken apart to clean. It doesn?t show where to put it back. Help hi there. i have a hoover savvy u8172-900 vaccum. the hose has great suction, but there is limited suction on the main unit and the brush does not spin when i try to use the product. we have cleared the brush of any debris and have also installed a new bag. a few days ago, we disconnected the hose to make sure there was not any foreign bodies stuck in the unit…nothing seems to help. any advise?
ANSWER : As the hose fits into the base (if i am correct) the power at the base should be fine, make sure the base is clean and free from blockage,.you say the brush doesn’t spin, has the belt broken, if so replace it, (very cheap) and only a couple of screws to undo, the roller not rotating will effect the power of suction dramatically,.start from there and see how you go..if i have helped please rate me

I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter.
