How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Keep ironing at a horizontal position and wait for a while before using the steam function again. Over time, lime or gunk may form on your iron`s soleplate, hindering steam. For milder cases, try wiping the soleplate with a wet rag. Set your iron to the lowest temperature and let it warm up.
Heating Element. A common cause to your cleaner not producing steam can be a failed heating element. As the heater is used to heat up the water, if that has ruptured or burnt out your steam cleaner will not produce any steam. With the water tank filled and switched on the steamer should sound like a boiling kettle.
A quick trick to conquer a blockage that baffles you. If your iron isn`t steaming properly, turn to the household cure-all: white vinegar. Pour one part vinegar and two parts water into the reservoir. Turn the iron on, and when it`s hot, hold it soleplate-side down.
It is likely if you have hard water that your iron is blocked with limescale. Try emptying and refilling with a product like Stock Number: ES1562116 to try and clear any limescale build up.
check the cap of the water tank to make sure it is correctly and securely attached to the water tank. check your water tank to make sure it is securely and correctly fitted in to the body of the garment steamer – incorrect placement of the water tank can block water from feeding in to the body and boiler of the steamer.
Yes, when the iron gets too hot the thermal fuse will blow to protect the heating element. They can be replaced with the same value.
If left unchecked, the steamer could overheat and stop working entirely.
Most repairs are for faulty cords, damaged handles, and mineral deposits that hamper steam irons. Problems with an iron`s electronic complements should be dealt with by an authorized service center. It typically is more cost effective to replace rather than repair an iron with internal problems.
Fuse may be blown CAUSE: One of the most common reasons for iron press not working could be a blown fuse. In some cases when the fuse of the iron press burns or blows, then it may stop working altogether. This is why it is important to resolve the issue fast.
A good set of golf irons can last anywhere between 8 and 12 years, or 300 rounds of golf.
If you have an elevated wire cooling rack, that can also be used in place of a proper steamer. Use it exactly how you would a steamer basket: add an inch of water to a pot with a tight fitting lid, place the wire cooling rack in the pan, and place the food on top of the rack.
A typical large or medium steamer consists of a water tank, heating element and long metal rod, as well as a rubber hose with a brush attached to remove hair and lint. The water is added to the tank and heated until it boils and becomes vapor.
What is a Thermal Fuse? A thermal fuse or thermal cutoff is a safety device which open circuits against overheat. It detects the heat caused by the over-current due to short circuit or component breakdown.

Check the following points: The tank is empty or almost empty: add more water. The selected temperature is too low and does not allow steam to be produced: set the thermostat to the steam zone (between 2 dots and MAX). If your iron has a Dry/Steam control: set it to the Steam position.
Can steam irons be used without water? Yes. Simply remove the water from your steam iron by unplugging the iron, letting it cool and then emptying the water tank. If your iron has a dry/steam setting or something similar, turn the dial to this setting; if it lacks a dry setting then select the “MIN” setting.

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly
ANSWER : The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.
We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire across the brown wires flicked the wall switch and it worked, aha i thought faulty switch aquired a new one to no avail and now even the short piece of wire trick doesnt work, has the motor died do you think, it wasnt over heating or making strange noises prior to refusing to work
ANSWER : It could be the motor. I’m having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the carbon brushes wear down which is normal. However, the contact wire from the brush to its connector is set so that when the brush wears down, the wire is short enough to stop the spring etc from damaging the commutator. The end result is that you get an intermittent operation of the motor before it finally dies.
.I believe all the DYSONs come with the option of both motors and you cannot really tell which motor you have until you take the thing to bits. You also cannot change motors without changing various other parts on the hoover. On my DC 05 the writing on the YDK motor tells you which one it is.
.This website www. tasweb.org ,select the DC 05 option and scroll down tells you how to take the thing to bits. A search on google etc for your DC 07 may give similar results. Best of luck!
I have a Roomba 560 (it’s still in warranty !!) and, after my summer vacation, it has a problem.
When I’m charging Roomba, the orange light blinks (and this is normal!) but this orange blinking continues forever…. the light doesn’t change to green.
If I detach Roomba from the charger, the light become green and it works normally until the light changes to red and I have to charge it again.
WHY, DURING THE CHARGING PHASE, THE LIGHT DOESN’T CHANGE FROM ORANGE-BLINKING TO GREEN?
HAVE I
ANSWER : The problem is not with the charger itself but it is with the battery inside the Roomba. It sunds like one or more of the cells has gone bad so its not holding the same charge as it did. I would recomend sending it in while the warranty is still valid so they will replace it. Your charger and the Roomba itself should be fine.
A few tips to keep the battery working longer:
Only charge the battery when it is drained all the way to zero. It will help keep the battery active.
Only charge the battery until it is full and then disconect it from the power source. It will keep it active longer plus it will help keep your electric bill down.
My new H2O Mop Ultra (Danoz) seems to heat up ok then when the light switches to green and I start using it, the orange light comes back on as well as the green. Produces steam to start with but then it starts to spit water too and everything ends up wet. Any ideas on whats wrong or should I just send it back?
ANSWER : That is a major hardware fault, I have seen this numerous times with these H2O mop’s… They seem to either work perfectly for a long while or have problems right off the bat. You definitely want to send this unit back and either get a refund or at least have them send you a new one..
.Thanks.Tim
I have a 2 fluorescent light fixture in my bathroom. The right side light quit working. I took the starter out of the left side and put it in the right and it worked. Starter, right? I bought a package of 2 Leviton starters FS 2 15w. They didn’t work. Thinking bad, I returned it for another package. Still not working. The original starter is a Sylvania FS 2. Is it possible to have FOUR bad “new” starters? Do I need to replace it with the EXACT same starter? This light fixture is 38 years old. No
ANSWER : It is not likely that you had 4 bad starters.I assume you have more modern lights in it too(not 30 yrs old). Here is a link to Sylvania. It may be just that it requires certain something(who knows what)that only Sylvania has.It seems strange because they are all basically the same and a generic one seems like it would work.I also googled flourescent light starters and under one that talked about operation,it did refer to some older models. But like I said,it probably has newer lights so who knows what the heck.Well, here you go.You may also just want to call Sylvania and ask where you can find a replacement instead of paying $5 to ship $2 worth of parts.

The iron needs a new power cord; however, the screw at the back of the iron seems to need a hollow star driver. What tool do I need?
ANSWER : You’ve identified it in your question. These screws are just one type of so-called “security” screws (there are many others) that are designed to be turned only with a driver that matches the head. You can often get these screws to turn with a small flat-blade driver, provided it’s a tight fit. Or you can buy the proper tool, of course.
