How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Open the cap on the handle and slide the wand upwards until both the wand and hose release from the machine. Press the button on the end of the hose and remove the wand. Press the button on the bin handle and remove the bin. Press the tab on the base of the hose to remove it from your machine.
If the release is still stuck, try pressing and holding that release for a few seconds. Sometimes the release just needs a little help or a bit more force to get started. Another tip to try; gently press and release the bin release a few times.
An object that falls through a vacuum is subjected to only one external force, the gravitational force, expressed as the weight of the object. An object that is moving only because of the action of gravity is said to be free falling and its motion is described by Newton`s second law of motion.
If you throw something in a perfect vacuum, Newton`s First Law states it will carry on at that velocity unless acted upon by an external force.
This pressure drop behind the fan is just like the pressure drop in the straw when you sip from your drink. The pressure level in the area behind the fan drops below the pressure level outside the vacuum cleaner (the ambient air pressure). This creates suction, a partial vacuum, inside the vacuum cleaner.
Firmly push the red bin release button. The bin will slide down, cleaning the shroud as it goes and the bin base will open. The bin base won`t open if the red bin release button isn`t pushed down all the way. Press the red wand release button and pull the wand away from the bin.
Near the surface of the Earth, an object in free fall in a vacuum will accelerate at approximately 9.8 m/s2, independent of its mass. With air resistance acting on an object that has been dropped, the object will eventually reach a terminal velocity, which is around 53 m/s (190 km/h or 118 mph) for a human skydiver.
Objects in space follow the laws or rules of physics, just like objects on Earth do. Things in space have inertia. That is, they travel in a straight line unless there is a force that makes them stop or change. The movement of things in space is influenced by gravity.
For centuries, physicists thought there was no limit to how fast an object could travel. But Einstein showed that the universe does, in fact, have a speed limit: the speed of light in a vacuum (that is, empty space). Nothing can travel faster than 300,000 kilometers per second (186,000 miles per second).
No human can survive this — death is likely in less than two minutes,” Lehnhardt said. According to NASA`s bioastronautics data book, the vacuum of space would also pull air out of your lungs, causing you to suffocate within minutes.
Friction is a force that opposes the motion of an object. terms of inertia and friction. A baseball, if thrown in outer space, would continue to move in a straight line at a constant speed forever or until it encounters a force that changes its motion.
Push harder than you pull.

Many people naturally exert more force when they`re pulling their vacuums back than when they`re pushing them forward, but this can leave dirt on the floor. Vacuums are designed to be pushed forward at a rate of about 12 inches per second and pulled back at a rate of 6 inches per second.

Vacuum uses the surrounding atmosphere to create work force by pulling on, rather than pushing, a work piece.
As the cleaner head and filter fills with dirt and debris over time, all the built-up debris begins to emit a burnt-smelling odour. You may need to remove and clean out the vacuum`s filter. We need to advise you to stop using your machine and request that you contact your local customer support team.
With both hands, firmly grab one of the black circular ends of the purple brushbar. Pull up and out to remove the brushbar from the head piece. Repeat this on the other side.
Any claim that a hot tool doesn`t damage hair is a lie. Thankfully, Dyson isn`t lying and claiming the Airwrap won`t damage your hair, but the brand does claim it is less damaging than comparable hot tools. The Airwrap was designed to “measure airflow temperature over 40 times a second.
A Dyson vacuum cleaner has a lifespan of around 10 years. This is considerably longer than most other vacuums. So, if you`re looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last you for a long time, a Dyson could be a good choice. However, remember that Dyson vacuums are expensive.
Set of three Smiths Torx Star screwdrivers compatible with Dyson Vacuum cleaners screws. These are the only three star/Torx screwdrivers you need for repairs to all Dyson vacuum cleaner models (with the tamperproof tips on two of them to suit later Dyson ball models too).
On the front of the handle you hold to guide the vacuum is the wand release button. This is a large release button that is found just above the power button. Push the release button in and hold while pulling up on the grip handle. The wand will slide out of the bracket that holds it in place.
Gravity will accelerate any object at a rate of 32 feet per second per second. But what do we do with that number? What it means is that if we fall for one second we`ll reach a speed of 32 feet per second. After two seconds we reach 64 feet per second.
In a vacuum, there is no fluid that will introduce drag force and other types of retarding forces, this means that the force acting on the object remains constant, and it will constantly accelerate. This results to an object not having a terminal velocity or an upper limit.
Physicists Have Detected a Friction-Like Force in a Perfect Vacuum. One of the most fundamental tenets of modern physics is that in a perfect vacuum – a place entirely devoid of matter – no friction can possibly exist, because empty space cannot exert a force on objects travelling through it.
Conduction cannot happen in vacuum.

I have something stuck ionside the long extender arm and am unable to get it out. Can anyone help?
ANSWER : Maybe you could try a little bit bigger size tube from a shop vac and **** it out, I will go look at my dyson and see if there is another way.

I have the dyson animal. There is something stuck in the wand tube and everyting is getting caught on it. There is very little suction from the wand. How do I get the wand apart or somehow get the object stuck out of the tube? Thanks
ANSWER : Yes, things stuck in vacuum hoses are not always as easy to remove as one might think. Trying to push it out with something can be counter-productive, and only get the thing stuck tighter! If you have a second vacuum, you can try sucking it out the way it came in (and risk getting it stuck in the other machine. Or you can try pulling it out, using a wooden stick with a small hook screwed in the end. If you try a piece of bent wire, you must be careful not to perforate the hose. Usually just requires a bit of ingenuity.

I can’t get the vacuum to **** and can’t get to the point of the clog. The pieces don’t come off. Also need to know how to get the filter piece off the machine.

I’m trying to pull the fan drive of my vacuum so I can get to the motor but Ican not seem to get it off. I was wondering if there is a release switch or something that is preventing me from doing this. Also the motor seems to be burning but I think it’s because ther is something in there clogging it up.
ANSWER : Check to see if it has reverse threads, Most do

Hi! I have a Pfaff Creative 1475. The presser foot seems “gummed up” or stuck. The back lever lifts it with great force, but then instead of staying up like the lever usually does – it then falls back down. The lifting foot stays stuck up and I have to push on it to get it back down. Help?

Suction problem I have a Hoover Widepath Fold Away, 12 amp motor vacuum cleaner and the problem I am having is every time I vacuum, the vacuum gets clogged up with carpet. I am probably only able to do one stroke then it gets clogged and I have to stop and unclog it or it spits it out on the carpet. This is very frustrating and I don’t get much vacuuming done. Please can you help me. Thank you. Gwen email is [email protected]
ANSWER : Get rid of the carpet its shredding and falling apart.no sence in vacuuming old rotten carpet.or try using a vacuum without a brush roller and just suction

I have an electrolux central vacuum in my house. My central vac hose has something stuck in it, I think, maybe a sock. I tried to put a long dryer wand down it but the hose is just too long. Does this need a repair man or new hose?? Any idea of a way to blow it out? Thanks.
ANSWER : The best way to clear an obstruction is to blow it out by attaching the wall end to the exhaust of a shop vacuum, or using an air compressor.
.You can try holding the wand end of the hose directly to the CV in port and turning the machine on. This provides essentially the same action as the previous method.
.If neither of these work, try a combination of the two. Or using a shop vac, hold the wall end to the exhaust of the vacuum and the wand end to the in port of the shop vac. Turn shop vac on and the obstruction should come out.
.Borrow a good strong shop vacuum if you need to.
.If these methods fail, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have the service tech try to clear it. Care must always be taken when trying to clear an obstuction with a long object, especially if it’s pointed. I’ve seen many hoses that have shorted out and even caught fire due to the wiring accidentally being “nicked”.

Help, my new Sunbeam Slush Maker won’t ‘slush’ – I just get VERY cold drinks! Have followed the instructions to the letter. Is there something I don’t know? Perhaps I am doing something wrong?
