Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop – Gray/ Purple Vacuum

How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced Vacuum Technicians :

Shark Pocket will not make steam

Check that your water tank is full, if you find it is empty, add water. Also check that the tank is free of any cracks or holes that could cause water to leak, and that the tank is properly seated in the device`s housing.

Not Plugged In

You will notice a blinking blue light on the front of the device when plugged in correctly. If the light fails to come on then try to plug into a different outlet.

Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn`t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again.
A common cause to your cleaner not producing steam can be a failed heating element. As the heater is used to heat up the water, if that has ruptured or burnt out your steam cleaner will not produce any steam. With the water tank filled and switched on the steamer should sound like a boiling kettle.
I used baking soda to fix the problem. Mix water with a teaspoon of baking soda in a bowl, and then pour the mixture into the water tank (fill up to the brim). Then, turn on the steam and hold the steamer upside down, with the nozzle AWAY FROM YOU. Once the light turns green, turn on the steam.
We have had some customers who have had their steam cleaners for 5-8 years and are still going strong. For less expensive models like the steam mops or handhelds, you should probably expect more like 3-6 years of consistent use.
Flashing headlights

These work lamps make it easier to see dirt and dust that hides away in the nooks and crannies of your home, but they also function as a secondary health indicator. If your Shark`s LED headlights are flashing, nine times out of 10 it means that your brush roll is clogged up.

From the manual: • Top and bottom LED lights are flashing: Battery temperature is not optimal, so charging is temporarily paused. Leave battery plugged in and charging will resume soon.
Sometimes the battery may have gotten dirty or slipped away from its contacts inside the Shark robot vacuum. Cleaning and repositioning it may fix your problem. But if it`s an old battery or there are clear signs of damage, you should order a replacement battery that matches your model.
Pull the wound-up power cord out of the mop and plug it into a 120-volt outlet. The on/standby button will start flashing blue. The mop only takes about 30 seconds to fully heat up.
To prolong the life of your steam mop, we recommend using distilled water in the tank. Make sure you only add water to the tank – chemicals or cleaning solutions (including vinegar) may damage the steam mop and could be unsafe.
How hot does it get? We used a hi-tech thermometer that registered the Shark`s steam at 217 degrees. We also tested on wood floors with no problems. “Does It Work?” We give the Shark Steam Mop a yes.
Let the Steamer Heat Up All the Way

Many handheld garment steamers heat up in just a few minutes, and you might be tempted to start steaming your clothing as soon as the first tendrils of steam drift out of the nozzle. However, it`s best to let the steamer heat up all the way before putting it to your clothing.

If left unchecked, the steamer could overheat and stop working entirely.
A: There is an overheat switch inside the fabric steamer that will shut down the unit if it runs out of water and isn`t turned off. But, there will be damage to the unit before it kicks in.
Mix your purchased descaler or mix 1 1/2 oz. of baking soda with one quart of clean water. Fill the empty tank with this mix. Seal the unit and turn the steam cleaner on so that it begins heating.
Only Use Water in the Reservoir

With the exception of a few models that have dual functions, steam mops are typically designed to be used with water and nothing else. The steam alone does a great job of cleaning the floor. Always read the manual on your mop model thoroughly for complete use guidelines.

Our testing has found that all steam mops remove stains fairly well, with marginal differences, and are likely slightly better than a regular mop and bucket due to the heat and vapour produced by the steam.
Soap only lifts dirt and oil into water, making them suspend in water. Therefore, the more soap you use, the more your mop gets saturated with dirt. So, if you do not remove all the soapy water from the floor, the dirt remains, forming streaks on the floor.
Aim for a replacement every two to three months or sooner if it looks very dirty. Your floors are only as clean as your mop head; a soiled and worn mop will not be effective.
Roller brush is not spinning

Check to make sure the vacuum is switched to the correct mode. The switch should be in the Power and Brushroll mode to make the roller spin. If it is in just the power mode the roller will not move. The brushroll indicator light should be green when working.

If you checked your brush roll, floor setting, and belt but your brush roll is still not spinning, that means you probably need a Shark micro switch replacement. This small switch tells the vacuums brush when to start spinning.
Plug the charger into a wall outlet. The red charging light will fade in and out. This means the vacuum is charging.

My steam pocket mop seems clogged. Steam does not come out of the mop head. The clog appears to be in the rectangular mop head. The triangular head still works fine. I’ve tried soaking it in hot water and soaking it with cleaning solutions. They have not worked. If I blow into the connection piece, no air goes through. That’s what leads me to believe there is a clog. If you can help, please do. I like the product and haven’t been able to use it for awhile because of this. Thanks.
ANSWER : I had the same issue with the rectangular mop and corrected it by disassembling the tube from the rectangular piece. There are two screws that will need to be removed in order to get access to the connector. Once the connector is removed from the rectangular piece you will need to **** out the clog. I used a small drill bit and was able to do this without attaching the bit to a drill. There is a slight angle to the connector which causes the clog to occur. The total job took about 45 minutes to accomplish. I could have purchased a replacement for $21.95 but thought I’d take a shot at fixing it. Hope this helps.

The steam mop was only used 3 times.stopped working. It has now stopped working altogether. I have only had it for a month. I did not save the receipt because after the third time working I thought it was okay. I am very disappointed and have a hand shop vac of Sharks which has been working for a year. I have been discouraged from buying another one of your products now that the steam mop has quit working after 3 times. I followed the exact instructions how to use it. Model S3101/ 120V 60HZ

I have only had my shark steam mop for about a month and only used it twice. I tried to use it yesterday and it would not work. The green light came on and it worked for maybe ten seconds, then it completely shut off. I tried switching outlets and draining the water but nothing worked. It still doesn’t work today either. What do you think is wrong? Does this product have a warranty?
ANSWER : Yes has warranty call Shark/europro.
