How to Identify and Fix Common Vacuum Problems ?

Bearings that are best able to afford axial movement are NU and N roller-contact bearings (fig. 4.10). If ball or roller-contact bearings are used as free bearings, then one of the bearing rings (usually the outer) must be attached freely (fig.
Steel wires are die cut into cylinders to make the rollers. It then goes through several surface finishing and heat treatment processes. Steel plates are first press cut into circles, then formed into cone shapes, the bottom is then cut. It then goes through a turning process.
The first digit indicates the width or height series (dimensions B, T or H). The second digit identifies the diameter series (dimension D). The last two digits of the basic designation identify the size code of the bearing bore. The size code multiplied by 5 gives the bore diameter (d) in mm.
Bearings with cylindrical bores are usually mounted by pressing them on the shafts (press fit) or heating them to expand their diameter (shrink fit). Bearings with tapered bores can be mounted directly on tapered shafts or cylindrical shafts using tapered sleeves.
When mounting bearings on shafts, locknuts are generally used. Special spanners are used to tighten them. Bearings can also be mounted using hydraulic nuts.
The bearing size is selected based on the basic static load rating C0 (product tables). For an equivalent static bearing load P0, the selected bearing must have a C0 value equal to or larger than the value of the requisite basic static load rating C0req (table 1): P0 ≥ C.
Radial type roller bearings (cylindrical, tapered, spherical, and needle) consist of four basic components, an inner ring, an outer ring, rollers, and a cage (roller retainer). Under normal operating conditions, bearing rings and rollers carry the load while the cage spaces and retains the rollers on the cone.
Roller bearings on the other hand are classified according to the shape of the rollers: cylindrical, needle, tapered and spherical. Rolling bearings can be further classified according to the direction in which the load is applied; radial bearings carry radial loads and thrust bearings carry axial loads.
Bearings are measured by their inner diameter, outer diameter, and width; the size of a bearing is normally listed as such: ID x OD x W. These measurements are normally taken in millimeters, but can be converted to inches.
To find the outer diameter of a bearing, you`ll need to measure from one side of the outer ring to the other. To measure the outer diameter of a bearing, place the jaws of your vernier caliper around the outside of the bearing and close it until it meets the outer edge of the bearing.
In the case of small non-separable ball bearings, hold the bearing horizontally in one hand, and then rotate the outer ring to confirm that it turns smoothly. Separable bearings such as tapered roller bearings may be checked by individually examining their rolling elements and the outer ring raceway.
The fit, or amount of interference that exists between mating components (such as the shaft and bearing bore), can be devised into three categories: loose (slip), transition, and press (tight).
Bearings are of only two types, friction, and antifriction bearings, and further subdivided these two like solid bearing, ball bearing, roller bearing, etc.
Some people choose bearings based on the outside diameter of the bearing that matches the dimensions of the housing. 4) Select the bearing of diameter series 0, 2, or 3 from the example of Table 3. If the bearing installation space is limited due to the down-sizing of the machine, select a bearing of diameter series 9.
Typically, most plain bearings are installed by force. The holes they are supposed to fit in are tolerated slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the plain bearings. This way, the bearing is kept in place nice and secure by mechanical tension.
My model F5906-900 — problem is the brushes have stoped working… I pulled the brush assembly out by holding the two tabs, and all seems clean and the brush assembly rotates easly… onced the brush assembly is removed. What I did notice is the female driver slot (found in the main assembly unit) that drives the brushes seems stuck..Is that normal when the machine is not hooked up to power? How can I get the brushed going??? it is a good machine, but the brush options is important too it’s ab
ANSWER : (1)
Assure the Brush Control on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
.(2)
Remove the brush assembly by pulling/unlatching it from base on each side.
.(3)
Does one of the brushes have the drive pin present?
It should be about ¼ inch square, and two inches long.
It attaches the brushes to the drive mechanism.
.(4)
Remove and clean the intake filter.
One the base of the cleaner, behind the brushes, squeeze the two red abs together and pull the panel down to access the screen.
Clean the hair/debris off the screen and reassemble.
