Fill up with warm water.

That`s why we recommend filling up your carpet cleaner`s tank with warm water. Some BISSELL Carpet Cleaners also use HeatWave technology to keep the water hot throughout the cleaning process.

Energy: Hot water extractors tend to use more energy than cold-water systems, potentially making them a less sustainable cleaning method. As to the fumes, most cleaning professionals and carpet cleaning technicians already mix carpet cleaning chemicals with cold water.
A: Yes it can be used as a vacuum without water.
You don`t have to use the Bissell solution, but it is optimized for use in their machines. This means it won`t streak, leave residue, need to be rinsed, or leave buildup in your machine.
Your BISSELL Steam Mop has been designed to be used with tap water although to prolong its life the use of demineralised water is strongly recommended.
A possible cause might be that the tank is not properly seated. To assure the tank is seated properly, pick it up and re-seat is so it sits snugly on the unit. If this doesn`t fix the problem, make sure the tank is assembled properly. To make sure they are both latched properly, pick the tank up by its handle.
The ProHeat® Carpet Cleaner has a built-in heater to heat tap water up to 25 degrees hotter for optimum cleaning.
Pre-Vacuuming:

Before you begin using your Bissell Carpet Cleaner, it`s important to make sure that the surface of your carpets is free from dirt and debris. To do this, use a regular vacuum cleaner to remove any loose particles or hair before beginning your cleaning session.

Laundry Detergents aren`t Formulated for Carpet Cleaning

Of course not! Cleaning solutions are specifically formulated to clean and not damage the machines they`re used in and the material they`re treating. Laundry soap is designed to be used in washing machines to clean clothing.

How long does it take carpets and upholstery to dry after carpet cleaning? On the average, it will take approximately 2-4 hours for carpet and upholstery to dry after being carpet cleaned. To expedite the drying process, you will want to use a fan and increase your air circulation.
Expand. For maximum cleaning results, BISSELL does not recommend using cleaning products other than BISSELL specified in the Big Green. BISSELL formulas are specially formulated with more “active” ingredients, contain no dyes and are designed for use in the BISSELL Big Green.
The ideal temperature range for carpet cleaning is between 100°F to 150°F. At this temperature, there would be enough heat to accelerate the chemical reaction during cleaning, but it will not be hot enough to create problems with the carpet or the carpet cleaner.
Wash on a Gentle Setting. Wash a rug in the washing machine on a delicate cycle with cold water and your usual detergent. Add bleach, if preferred, using only oxygen-based bleach for rubber-backed rugs.
It`s not unusual for DIY carpet cleaners to need eight or even 10 passes on a carpet before the water runs clear. This is especially true when: It has been a long time since your carpet was last deep-cleaned.
So, you`ve decided to buy a Bissell Power Steam Pro Carpet Cleaner and are wondering what other cleaning solutions you can use in it. Well, you can use Baking soda, Vinegar, Castile soap, or even Warm Water. However, you must keep in mind that you should leave the carpets to dry after you use them.

There could be several factors as to why your BISSELL PowerFresh steam mop is not producing steam. First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. My carpet cleaner (bissell proheat plus) is not steaming, dispensing cleaner. Seems like there’s a little thingy that should be spinning or turning….. When I work a small area of carpet, it just leaves behind dry blobs of carpet gunk like pet hair. I had to use a carpet sweeper to clean up. FYI – I filled the cleaning fluid container and after trying to clean the carpet, it did empty out but the carpet isn’t wet. Any tips? The manual doesn’t help.
ANSWER : You need to replace the pump belt. Here is the belt you need:

We have a Bissell Proheat Cleanshot 2X Model 9500 Steam carpet cleaner. The first time we used it things were great. The second time we used it it left tracks in the carpet. We have no idea what caused this. We tried using the machine on an entirely different carpet and it did the same thing. After vacuuming the carpet about 10 or 12 times, the tracks are still embedded in the carpet – HELP!!!! We’re read and reread the manual and contacted customer service and received no help.
ANSWER : First things first. It’s only the second time you have used the machine, so it must be fairly new. If you have a receipt and the unit is less than a year old you should take it to an authorized Bissell repair center and have the machine inspected under warranty.

.Otherwise, The jets on this unit clog easily, there are two of them and you can locate them under the recovery tank towards the front of the machine, and blow them out with an air compressor. To prevent the jets from clogging in the future make sure to flush all shampoo out of the machine with clean water when done using it. That is most likely your problem.
.
.If it is leaving black streaks on your carpet it could be coming from a burnt belt or melted brushroller part, in which case inspect the belts and brushrollers and replace the damaged pieces.
