The “Manual” key allows manual setting of cooking time. The time set in this mode is pressure cooking time which will begin to count down when working pressure is reached. The maximum pressure cooking time is 120 minutes. The “Sauté” key is used for open lid sautéing, browning or simmering inside the inner pot.
Press the “Manual” or “Pressure Cook” button, and check to make sure the pressure level shows as “High” in the display. If it does not, press the Pressure Level button until it shows high. Then, use the plus and minus buttons to change the cooking time to the “at high pressure time”.
Pressure cookers require liquid, usually water, to generate steam. “Jiggle top” cookers need a minimum of one cup of water, while valve cookers need at least half a cup. Put food in the cooker first, then add water.
Having dual pressure (both a high and a low pressure setting) allows you to cook at maximum speed on the high pressure setting but still allows the cooking of delicate foods, such as some types of fish and seafood and some fruits and vegetables such as spinach, on the low setting.
1. Manual or Pressure Cook Button. This is the mode you will use most frequently on your Instant Pot (bottom right corner). This is the main button to pressure cook any dish.
Place pressure regulator firmly on the vent pipe. Heat the pressure cooker until the pressure regulator begins to rock slowly. Adjust heat to maintain a slow, steady rocking motion. Cooking time begins at this point.
The Manual mode (called the Pressure Cook mode for some later models) is a mode where the pressure and heat have been programmed to change during pressure cooking to be “good for most foods.” Other pressure modes have other change profiles.
Electric pressure cookers are slower than the stovetop models, sometimes taking almost three times longer to reach pressure in our tests. But they`re easier to operate, and once you get a sense of the time needed for your recipes, they should require less attention than stovetop models.
My husband cooks a lot of pressure cooker hard boiled eggs and he agreed the time to cook the eggs was the same in the Power Pressure Cooker XL on the rice setting and in the Instant Pot using high pressure and the manual button – 6 minutes with a 6 minute natural release.
Electric pressure cookers will have the “valve release pressure” written in very small text on the underside of the pressure release valve either on the plastic housing, or the metal part of the valve.
An electric pressure cooker consists of three parts, the lid, inner pot and housing unit. The most important things to know about electric pressure cookers are the safety valves and smart control box.
As a result, your appliance won`t be able to build up enough pressure. How to Troubleshoot It: If your pressure cooker is taking too long to build up pressure, check the gasket and pressure valves for damage. If there is noticeable damage, replacing the gasket may remedy the issue.
Here is an interesting hack to do it. After the water comes to a boil, cover the mouth of the pan firmly with aluminium foil sheet and then cover the pan with the lid. The aluminium foil will block the steam in the pan and will create pressure cooker-like effect.

Need instructions for 8qt pressure cooker, model 65999. All it has on lid is a dial which says ‘open’, ‘low’, & ‘high’. If it had a pressure guage it wouldn’t be a problem, but I have never worked with a pressure cooker with a low – high dial. Please advise.

The automatic drain hose is hooked up to the back of the unit, but when the bucket is full, the automatic pump does not work. The automatic pump should come on and empty the bucket, but it does not come on unless the water is siphoned manually through the tube. Then the pump come on and empties the bucket. I have reattached the tube and still had to manually siphon the water through the tube. Any suggestions?
Any automatic pumps operate off a swith that is turned on when the water rises. They normally have some type of ball lift, that will raise the switch when water is high and then drops with the water and shuts the pumps off. It sounds like yours is stuck and not activating the pump.

ANSWER : .Vacuuming Liquids
.1. When picking up small amounts of liquid
.the filter may be left in place.
.2. When picking up large amounts of liquid
.we recommend that the filter be
.removed. If the filter is not removed, it
.will become saturated and misting
.may appear in the exhaust.
.3. After using the vac to pick up liquids,
.the filter must be dried to reduce the
.risk of possible mildew and damage to
.4. When the liquid in the drum reaches a
.predetermined level, the float mechanism
.will rise automatically to cut off
.airflow. When this happens, turn off
.the vac, unplug the power cord, and
.empty the drum. You will know that the
.float has risen because vac airflow
.ceases and the motor noise will
.become higher in pitch, due to
.increased motor speed..IMPORTANT:
To reduce the risk of damage
.to the vac do not run motor with float
