Dc11 dyson the brush head turns very slowly but when i take brush head cover of (the yellow part) and put my hand over the suction inlet part the brush head turns really fast. Have cleaned out collection chambers eg the hoover bag have washed the sponge with the little pictures of taps on it what now . thanks alan
ANSWER : I have taken the brush heads off and pulled all the hair out of the small gap between the chrome shaft and the plastic gear housing. Then a small amount of 3-in-1 oil into that gap to lube the internals and just a little through the air intake on the side of the head to clean and lube the seals and it works like new. This lasts about 9 months under high use and the process takes roughly 10 minutes.
Roomba keeps saying clean brushes yet are clean!
ANSWER : Make sure you take off the little cap at the end (the one that spins — just grab it and pull it straight off) and clean under it too. The rest of the brush may look perfectly clean but what happens is that hair gets stuck under spinning cap and, like a slowly growing washer, it pushes the whole brush toward the gear box. When it gets pushed over enough, the large yellow ring starts to rub against the side of the brush deck making it harder for the motor to turn the brush and you get that “remove and clean brushes” message.
Cleaning! To clean the cyclonic cone Dyson say to use can-air? that may be ok for computers but not to blow out the dirt and dust from the cone in question. Someone else here suggested to use a real compressor! Well dahhh I knew that! Should I do the blowing in the living room? or may be in the bathroom? Seriously what I need is an assy. drawing to take it apart and washing it Any ideas where I can get one? Thank you John
ANSWER : Hi, we realy love our Dyson, but get frustrated when it gets clogged with pet fur (2 cats and 2 dogs). This takes a little effort but what we ended up doing was taking the vacuum apart into its major components and alternately blowing it out, filter too, with an air compressor and reaching down into the holes in the main suction compartment with “mechanical fingers” and pulling out clumps of the traped fur. Like I said it too a bit of effort to get it all out, trust me even when you think you have it all check again, but your efforts will be greatly rewarded, you will end up with a vaccuum that “really sucks!!!” (pardon the pun). Hope this helps.
I have a dyson upright bagless that needs a good cleaning

ANSWER : Hello,
.
.Here’s a link to a very helpful video that shows you step by step on how to access and replace the belt on your machine. When the brushes stop spinning, but the rest of the machine works fine, this is a tell-tale sign that your belt has gone bad.

Vacuum has new bag but won’t pick up dirt. Cleaned flat filter and it made it worse. Do I need to replace rectangular filter or can I clean it. If so , how? If not, do I need to take it in for repair, ir should I get new parts?
Thanks!
ANSWER : It’s clogged somewhere. Disconnect the hoses where you can and check for obstructions. Run a coat hanger down the hose if you need to to clear the obstruction.
My older Dyson DC14 (the purple one) early model with a clutch on the beater bar belt needs a clutch replacement. The bar has been cleaned and there are no worn or damaged parts so I conclude that the clutch at the motor end of the belt needs to be replaced. I can find the part online but no instructions on how to disassemble the vacuum to get to and replace it. Dysons only advice is to give me the address and phone of the nearest service center. Can you help me?
ANSWER : Have a look at
www.dysonmedic.com which has some very useful info on dismantling and repairing Dysons.
.
.Although this site doesnt actually cover the DC14 yet, the DC14 is very similar to the DC07 so as regards dissassembling the machine, and replacing the clutch, my experience is that the DC07 info will enable you to do the job.
